Can't believe we filled up a whole thread! Welcome to thread 2.

On a positive note to start us off, I've lost 1lb of the two that I gained from my autumnal apple crumble caper. Filling full of resolve and pleased to know I can gain a pound or two (which is of course completely normal) and then lose them again.

@FoxRedPuppy it may be in your mind but prob same as me. I def feel hungrier on 5

20bloodypounds · 26/11/2025 20:47

I don't feel particularly more hungry but I do notice that I can eat everything on my plate, and eat it a lot faster.

OneThirdLess · 26/11/2025 20:58

@FoxRedPuppy yes we have all been really good at the mentality for losing, and maintenance comes as a big adjustment doesn't it. A couple of weeks ago I was worried because I had loads of food noise and the scale was creeping up. But a week or so later the food noise was manageable again and the scale has bobbed back down, I have to remind myself that there's good weeks and bad weeks.

I have learned I can't intuitively eat, at least not yet, I still need to plan out my nutrition. I can have treats, but have to really watch it or the added sugar/fast carbs will trigger cravings.

I need to find some motivation to do regular weights. I walk a lot (and even run sometimes) so I'm ok for cardio but really, really need to find some motivation to get into a weightlifting habit, even if just at home, or my remaining muscles will melt away thanks to menopause.

@ThisMustBeMyDream I so hope life starts going easier on you, you have done so well to keep on the maintenance train with all that going on.

I read the Andrew Jenkinson book not long after starting on Mounjaro, was a really interesting read. The seed oil/omega 6 thing is hot for debate on various health podcasts as some docs think it's all overblown and they don't actually cause inflammation and others adamantly the other way so 🤷‍♀️

ShrankLastWinter · 27/11/2025 17:11

I’m at a much lower medication level right now than I have been for months because a longer trip delayed my injection and I’ve also just decreased from 7.5 to 6.25. Happy to say it’s made no difference at all to how I feel.

I hadn’t even realized how much lower I am now until I happened to look at my Shotsy graph. Each meal is still making me quickly full.

Level will increase over next few weeks as the injections accrue again, but I’m very glad to think I apparently don’t need to be on a higher dose. Was quite scared about starting to reduce.

I read Andrew Jenkinson’s (2nd) book and I recommend it to everyone on this thread. He has a chapter on coming off GLP1s, plus the book more generally explains how to eat to keep weight off (even after being overweight). If you don’t want to buy the book I think he was on a Zoe podcast but in a nutshell the advice is:

  1. get most of carbs from vegetables
  2. avoid processed food - so basically eating lower carb whole foods
  3. avoid omega 6 oils
  4. avoid sugar and fructose - and limit fruit

interestingly he is not convinced exercise helps as much as we all think it does..

I read it and think he’s got confused about fructose corn oils, mega-6 and fruit thinking all fructose is the same. My take was that walking isn’t great exercise but tbf, I don’t think I finished it. Walking is good for NEAT (non-exercise activity thermogenesis) and depending on your joints / weight is a great option for a lot of people and maintains/build confidence and balance.

I also didn’t agree with his simplistic insulin vs leptin. It’s far more complex than that! Not a surgeon but worked as a Dietiaian and training metabolism to HCPs for years!

I doubt he’s “confused” he’s a consultant surgeon and expert in fat loss. His views on omega 3 / omega 6 are quite widespread and I’d avoided / cut back on omega 6 for at least 10 years before I read his book.

re: fruit, he’s ok with whole fruit (in moderation) as it comes witn the fibre.

Dunno - I’m a pathologist and find surgeons get confused about a lot of things… they are simple beings! I’ve not read the book but did listen to the podcast. Thought it was really interesting and lots of good points but as with many of the Zoe podcasts they are very good at presenting the data they want to present and I’ve learned to take everything they say with a pinch of salt!

Got a bit of a shock this morning. I am almost out of my zone of tolerance… in a downward direction! I have been feeling a bit slimmer but scales had been static - I thought maybe it was body recomp but then I did a massive wee this morning which always heralds a woosh!!

I really don’t want to lose more - I can see my ribs all the time now and my collar bones are quite pronounced. It’s been 2 wks since my last 3.75mg and Shotsy is estimating my levels at 0.72 mg. I’ve got meals out tonight and tomorrow so I’m not going to take my dose until Sunday but will probably stick at 3.75mg as I’ve got more meals out next weekend too. Im definitely more interested in food - it’s hard to know what the effect of the MJ is now and how much is my non UPF fairly low sugar diet combined with slimpod, better sleep and loads of exercise. I’m feeling reasonably positive about things though. Except that none of my going out clothes fit and I’m scared to buy things in a size ten because I can’t really believe this is now my size!

sorry I’ve not been around much lately - how is everyone else doing?

Azuresky68 · 28/11/2025 11:40

Good morning ...I skipped my Friday weigh in last week after a week on holiday half board ...so happy that I am half a pound under the weight I was before holiday.
Weighing in at 8 st 5 BMI 23 and very happy with that. Original goal was 9 stone as I never dreamed I could go below that.
5 stone less than my highest weight back in my fifties. Hovered between 9 stone and 11 stone pre MJ and starting weight on MJ was 11 stone. PS I am 69 now....never too late!

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/11/2025 13:19

maintaining here still

FurForksSake · 28/11/2025 13:34

Morning! What’s slimpod?

weighed in this morning, still 2lbs above my goal, but that’s fine. I’ve got a new dress in an 8 from Boden, but it’s an older one from vinted. It fits but it’s a little snug. I am hoping I can get those pesky two pounds off and it will fit beautifully.

im 2 weeks post surgery and dealing with some constipation and not being able to be up and mobile. I am very hopefully that as that clears things will move.

DH bought me a brownie from the bakery, it was delicious but so filling!

KrankyKumquat · 28/11/2025 14:54

I finally bit the bullet and bought some Geeks 3 in 1 magnesium in Amazon BF week sale. It's done wonders for my constipation (maybe a bit too good) but my sleep has, if anything, got worse. Wide awake for a couple of hours or more, after sleeping deeply for 2-3 hours. Is this a thing? Should I persevere? I'm completely knackered.

FurForksSake · 28/11/2025 15:27

I find the magnesium really helps my sleep, so I’d assume it was not the magnesium. But maybe take it at lunchtime? I find listening to podcasts sends me right off.

I have switched back to a high strength omega 3 from my 3-6-9, that feels like the right decision.

I’m also taking collagen and creatine and interestingly the nurse who removed my stitches on Monday was wowed by my wound healing. That’s unusual for me!

MargoLivebetter · 28/11/2025 16:44

Sounds like everyone posting is going along pretty well. I'll add my name to the list. My half dose every 10 days is keeping me on the straight and narrow too. I'm a few pounds below goal but it fluctuates from week to week. I remain very relieved not to be battling with the incessant food noise, particularly at this time of year and I'm not finding it a struggle to remain within my calorie allowance. I plan to order one more pen with Pharmulous and that will get me through January and then I will have a think about what I do from there.

Watched a good video about the effects of GLP1s on the hypothalamus. It was really clear and easy to understand and made so much sense. I'm sure that is what is helping me switch off the food noise. That makes me wonder whether hypnosis will work because if it is physiological, rather than 'emotional/thinking/bad habit' related then no amount of hypnosis is going to do the trick.

Sounds like all is going well with the maintenance crew! Also weighed in lower this morning than usual (by a smidgen, but still ...) so going into the weekend relaxed and ready to enjoy a few drinks and snacks.

I've heard good things about magnesium, but haven't joined the party. I find half a melatonin capsule keeps me asleep all night and I'm happy with that.

Went for a run this morning. 6 days out of 7 exercising - probable I'm going tomorrow too if I fancy it. It is helping me in mind, and to maintain. I would agree that it doesn't help you lose...

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/11/2025 20:18

I hope they will bring a pill out for maintenance /low doses

OneThirdLess · 28/11/2025 20:52

@Blondeshavemorefun There will be! Rybelsus (oral semaglutide, same stuff as Ozempic/Wegovy) is available from some prescribers already, but it's off label because it's not licenced for weight loss in the UK so harder to source.

Next year hopefully we'll see Orforglipron released (it doesn't have a brand name yet). It's made by Eli Lilly, same as Mounjaro, but it works in a different way. I don't know the exact science of it, but it's done well in trials although not as well as mounjaro. It could be a really good maintenance option though.

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/11/2025 21:22

will they give to under 25

Itscoldouthere · 29/11/2025 10:34

Must say I’ve been struggling a bit since I came back from holiday 6 weeks ago, I’m hungry eating too much, drinking more alcohol and not enjoying exercising as much.
I know the cold dark weather really affects me, I’ve been considering getting a daylight lamp at home as I’ve been feeling a bit depressed.
I’m now 60kg which is my upper limit, I did go down to about 56kg back in May, so I’m feeling like I need to refocus, sort out my mood, eat more protein, 57/58kg is where I feel good.
I’ve gone back up to 5mg but not feeling much, I’ve been wondering about switching to Wegovy as I’m pretty sure I’m not coming off anytime soon and it’s quite a bit cheaper.

FurForksSake · 29/11/2025 11:21

I’ve reached my final goal. I’ve only moved it about 8 times. I’ve lost 82lbs. That feels bonkers.

it feels like the real work starts now, to work out how to maintain and that feels hard.

ive just been chatting to ChatGPT and it’s suggested some meals and things to help maintain. My maintenance calories is 1300 which feels tiny.

ive just been floating the last few weeks due to surgery and various things so definitely feels a sensible time to refocus. I’m not going to try too hard to maintain over the next few weeks to give me some space for Christmas.

Roughly im going to aim for a fibre and protein heavy diet. Breakfast of oats with protein powder and berries. Lentil pot and chicken at lunch and then dinner will be protein and lots of veg. Snack apple and cheese mid afternoon or grapes or berries and yoghurt. Heinz are selling lentil pots and that seems to be worth a punt along side the gym kitchen pouches. So 300 for breakfast, 350 at lunch, 100 for snack and 550 for dinner. That adds up to 1300.

I am hopeful I can start exercising more in 2026 and get up to the lightly active category rather than sedentary and gain 200 calories which will give me some more leeway with dinners.

Azuresky68 · 29/11/2025 11:30

@FurForksSake amazing work, especially with your pain and surgery...sounds like a great plan. Difficult to resist the brownie I know but in the bigger picture you have got there and you are planning ahead. I am around the same for maintenance 1350 cals if i walk 4/5 days out of 7. In the meantime I am off to work at the theatre ..it's the Pantomine! Next week it's Miss Saigon, last week it was the Book of Mormon..I get to watch them all and get paid ..happy days 😀

According to this article the US price of a month of orforglipron is planned to be $149 although it doesn’t state the dose this is for.

If I buy a 10mg pen for £240 and use for 10 x 5mg doses that works about at £24 a week which is less than $149 a month. So I may still be able to use Mounjaro for less than the pills.

That is exactly what I have 1 7.5mg and a 10 mg. I am on 5mg and still losing just under 2lbs a week as an average.
I'm going to do 4 more weeks on 5mg from my 10mg then go down to 3.75mg and see how I go before going down to 2.5mg and then hoping to come off and see what happens. If I get the food noise I will maybe see about buying another pen. Hoping that my stomach has shrunk enough to need less food. I've survived for 7 months on under 1000 calories so I know in my head I don't need many. I've also been reading a lot about ultra processed food. I'm hoping to read more and turn myself off the quick fixes. But I know I will always choose chocolate over an apple! After 53 years it won't change completely. I do love wearing a size 12 - hopefully that will keep me going.

I think you’ll only get a 10mg pen if you have evidence you ordered one in the last month or so.
