Has anyone started WL injections with a ‘normal’ BMI?

Just that really

my BMI has always been around 22-24 but it’s been a lifelong battle of eating vigilance and massive efforts of daily exercise.

Since my 50s it’s just such a huge effort to fight to slow drift into weight gain and I’m not winning.

Im exhausted by it and honestly would love to shut out the food noise and just be able to eat small portions with satiety and not constant mental restriction.

I don’t think this would meet the current prescribing guidelines but I feel like I would hugely benefit mentally. I would love to see if a few months of shutting out the relentless appetite and 24:7 battle against the drive to eat would reset me a bit.

I could easily lose a stone and not look underweight or suffer from it so if that happened too it wouldn’t matter iyswim.

Has anyone started WLI for this reason and how did you access it/ how did you get on?

Most of us who are obese have tried everything to lose weight. I have dieted for many years, most recently by calorie counting, loosing 10lb an putting on 12. I have dropped from BMI of over 37 to 29.3 using Mounjaro and have about 2.5 stones to go to reach a BMI of 24 which is my current goal. I won't be able to afford to stay on it long term so when I get there I will be struggling again with food noise as you are. Most of us can lose a few pounds or a stone by using traditional diet methods but when you get to 6 stones overweight like I was, the just don't work anymore. Mounjaro has made it possible for me to eat in calorie defecit long term. I have been on it since October. I am hoping that when I stop, I will just be able to keep on top of my weight with diet and exercise as you have been doing.

The limits to prescribing have been set for good reason. Once people become obsese, the risks associated with obesity outweigh the risks of being on WLI. However those people are still predisposed to obesity so will be allowed to stay on it for maintenance if they so wish and can afford it.

In short, you are doing (without WLI) what we all wish we could even though it is a struggle. If I were in your shoes I wouldn't consider it. Please do not buy from a dodgy supplier or by lying as some have suggested. It just isn't worth the risk to your health.

I sincerely hope not! Good grief.

Why? How would it affect you? This sort of a response feels like such a moral judgement, people who aren’t naturally slim should suffer.

Yes. Microdosing. Ie less than half the starting dose. Losing very slowly but it has helped to focus on eating well and strength training long term. I don't recognise the suppression that you see people mention on the weight loss threads here. It's much more subtle. BMI was 25 when I started though so more than you.
General impulsive behaviours have stopped - from online shopping to needing to finish a pack of biscuits.
Yes yes yes I am aware of the 'risks' and have experienced none of them, and no no no I do not have an eating disorder. Just a normal woman who had read about the health benefits of GLP1s and wanted to experience them for herself.

Is this not what micro dosing is for? There are reputable clinics that offer this

This

How is it different from those who are a healthy weight after using weight loss medication and then are prescribed a maintenance dose?

I did 5weeks OP and then stopped and just changed habits - MJ certainly didn’t stop me thinking about food , maybe it does others but it didn’t me, I just didn’t feel that hungry but was still conscious of eating the right things and right quantities- I stopped because I didn’t like the heartburn 4 days a week or feeling like I had morning sickness - what I did was switch to eating only around 11 and again at 7 and hugely upped protein - lots of eggs, prawns, smoked salmon , chicken breasts, Greek yoghurt and berries - not a cheap diet but has worked well - but what really works sticking to MJ principles is no salty foods, no sugar and masses of water!! If you aren’t overweight and you clearly aren’t , I would have a bash at changing habits - spend more on high end food and try twice a day , tons of protein and little carb - MJ will not automatically switch off any food noise, that’s very ‘individual’ dependent and tends to happen more with people who have been overeating generally - and hence significantly overweight - it didn’t stop me wanting the odd glass of wine a couple of times a week either
