Shemed January Starters - Thread 4

Hello everyone! I completely missed the other thread was full (haven't been too well this week) so I've started this one and will tag as many people as I can think of from recent pages. Do tag anyone else you think of that might miss the new thread!

I hope everyone is okay. It's been unsettling times hasn't it with all the news about the price increases and very little from Shemed as to what they are planning. I am hopeful that of all people we will be shielded the most due to being on the Study (fingers crossed).

I weighed in this morning and took second dose of the 10mg. I seemed to put on this morning but if I take the weight I've been most of this week...

I am exactly half way to my target! And I've lost 25% of my bodyweight!

10mg - so far no burps or nausea but I am wondering if this extreme tiredness is in part due to the drug. Was eating just as I was before the last couple of days but today don't want to eat so who knows!

I'll read up and tag people if I can.

It’s my one year anniversary today. I started with SheMed hoping to lose 31kg before the study ended. Total loss to date is actually 22.1kg, which works out at less than 1lb per week in old money. It was frustratingly slow at times, yet now I’m at the year mark it’s hard to be mad at the lower than expected total loss, as the silver lining to being a slow responder is that I have no loose skin.

Wegovy seems to be working in a similar way to MJ for me, no huge weekly losses but the small ones add up. And luckily no unbearable side effects.

Happy Anniversary to everyone, I am so thankful I saw the advert and signed up.

JBJ · 22/01/2026 16:41

3 days off MJ and I’ve hit 13st 8.5lb today, which is exactly an 8st loss! I’m over the moon with that, although the last couple of months have been accelerated due to my gallbladder/pancreas problems.

Spoke to my surgeon today and he’s got me in for my pre-op appointment tomorrow, so hopefully the end is nigh. Just hoping my appetite doesn’t come back with a vengeance after the op, as I’m no longer allowed to take WLI and it’s terrifying to think I’ve still got a couple of stones to lose and I’ve got to do it alone!

JBJ · 22/01/2026 16:47

Oh and a huge NSV today! At the beginning of last year, I bought riding gear, as my first target is 13st so as I can ride again. I bought size 14 denim jodhpurs, short boots and a pair of half chaps. At the time I was a size 22. The chaps were about 2inches off closing and I laughed when I looked at them, thinking I’d never get my legs in there! Tried it all on today and there’s actually room in them, in fact, I think by the time I hit my 13st target (well, 12st 10 as my clothes/hat weigh a bit), I’m likely going to need a belt!

I didn’t sit around the house wearing full riding gear for hours until my 19yo son noticed at all 🤣🤣

Shmallow · 22/01/2026 22:15

That's fab @JBJ! I ride too, am tentatively thinking of getting one of my own again in the next year.. this kind of stuff is the ultimate reward!

Sadly, I don’t think I’ll ever have my own again as I have physical disabilities which would make it difficult to do a lot of the ground work, but maybe one day if I can convince the teenager to help! (He hates horses 🤣) I used to have two - a 15.2 ex racer and a huge 17.2 ID X and I just miss it all so much.

JBJ · 26/01/2026 11:38

Weigh in day, 2 weeks off MJ, still having to avoid fat and not gone over 1300 calories all week. 0.6lb loss. Considering my calories are still really low, I’m definitely losing slower than I was on MJ which is interesting. Not really hitting my protein goals though, as I’m struggling with what I can eat and still stay under 3g of fat per day! IBS has returned with a vengeance though, after a year of it gone 😭

Kaggi9 · 30/01/2026 22:43

Well, I’ve hit my 12 month anniversary with SheMed!

Exactly 100lbs lost which is 42% of my bodyweight 😁

If you’d have asked me this time last year, I’d never have believed it could happen. Just waiting for my 12 month blood test results to drop and deciding whether to take SheMed up on their new 12 month offer!

Hope you are all doing well 😁

JBJ · 02/02/2026 10:05

3rd week off MJ and stayed the same this week. It’s definitely harder work without the drugs! Genuinely not overeating as I’m on such a restrictive diet at the minute and still tracking every calorie I eat on Nutracheck. This remaining couple of stone is going to be a bloody long road I feel 😩

Simi90 · 03/02/2026 10:09

@Kaggi9 what is the new 12 month offer?

kittykarate · 03/02/2026 10:50

I'm all confused with the 'post study' offer now. In any emails I've received, there was not talk of a new 12 month commitment but to continue on the 'special' price you had to carry on with weekly checkins etc.

Now some people are saying that it's another 12 month contract, and I'm not sure how that would work.

Just typical Shemed communication, also, I've got to be honest, some people do seem to be mischief makers in the Shemed facebook group, posting up about 'problems' that don't seem real.

kittykarate · 03/02/2026 10:53

Tiny, tiny loss for me this week,100g. I was out on the beers on Saturday night so that probably hasn't helped. I'm through my personal target (65kg) and closer to 61kg. I'm still BMI 26, but I think after March I'll be looking to start moving down the doses and see what happens.

Kaggi9 · 03/02/2026 14:07

Simi90 · 03/02/2026 10:09

@Kaggi9 what is the new 12 month offer?

I had an email that you apparently get when you’re in your last month of the 12 on the study, for the next 12 months for Wegovy. They’ve got higher doses now too:

  • £129 – 0.25mg, 0.5mg, 1mg, 1.7mg, 2.4mg
  • £159 – 4.8mg (available to Founding Members only)
  • £179 – 7.2mg (new)
Reginaphalangeeeee · 03/02/2026 16:28

Hi all, still here.
Weight not moving much, I have got rid of the 1-2kg from Christmas so just at where I was leading up to Christmas period.
Coupled with my cold, period and the dosing experiment (lower dose but every 5 days) static overall.
That said, I feel smaller, & back
At the gym and have begun C25K.
Dose back up to 8mg and suppression back. Hoping I go downwards in weight again now. It is expensive to be on this and not loose weight, yet also
Think it is part of the process, body adaption etc.
Worked out my BMR now 1800
I am worried as the weight drops how hard it will be to keep
Under calories (for life)!

kittykarate · 03/02/2026 17:07

In shemed adjacent news - when I swapped to Wegovy the pharmacy uses wool based packaging. After 6 pens I had enough wool to stuff 2 cushions, so that's what I did over the weekend. The wool isn't great quality and random textures, but it survived a wash with some disinfectant, and I hand plucked/shredded it.

JBJ · 09/02/2026 10:34

Hi all. 4th week off MJ and today I have gained 4lb somehow! Most calories I’ve eaten in a day is 1300 (I track on Nutracheck) and I’m mainly eating porridge, soup, toast, chicken, veg, rice… cannot eat fat due to gallbladder and pancreas. I’m very frustrated with it all and might have cried my eyes out this morning :(

The food noise has 100% returned now, but can barely eat anything due to my issues. My brain fog and neuro fatigue is also back with a vengeance, as as my achy joints and swollen knees - left knee is 3 inches bigger due to fluid.

This is why I’d decided I wanted to stay on MJ long term, because, as well as the weight loss, I just felt so much better, and now that’s all been taken away. So despondent.

Mazd323 · 09/02/2026 15:59

Just gone to do my refill. So after previously saying founding members would pay £129 for doses up to 2.4mg now it seems you have to sign up for another 12 months and agree to automated payments! There is so much conflicting information this is getting ridiculous. It’s so unclear what we’re actually signing up to, how do we know what to do? Anybody else at this stage and decided what they’re doing?

I last jab ed over 7 weeks ago, my knee and hip pain have flared up as has an arm injury. It could be coincidence or mj could have been keeping it at bay. I'm eating everything I can see.
I'm also trialling ADHD medication and have had a delay seeing my prescriber where I hope to go up a dose. I'm off skiing next week and then I see the prescriber. My plan is to survive the next week or so and then see if any dose increase helps. If it doesn't I will go back to jabbing. I have a pen in the fridge for such emergencies.
I've stopped weighing as it's not good.

Within a week of starting MJ a year ago, I noticed a huge reduction in joint pain, so it’s definitely the drug. Sadly, it’s unlikely I’ll be allowed to go back on it ever again, now that I’ve had problems with my pancreas, so just got to cope I guess.

Oh no, is that the case for all WLI?

I believe so. The doctor at the hospital the other week was very dismissive and actually quite rude, basically saying I brought all this on myself by taking WLI. I’m going to talk it through with my lovely surgeon though to see what he thinks.

😥 hopefully the surgeon oks it. I think often doctors aren't trained in these sorts of things so have no idea. I know far more about my thyroid disorder for example than any GP. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Simi90 · 11/02/2026 14:46

I've just received the email... concerned about the 12 month commitment. Also I'm assuming we have to do the live check ins still? Whereas standard members can do the shortened version. What is everyone going to do?

kittykarate · 11/02/2026 16:33

If it wasn't a 12 month commitment, I'd stay with them for the convenience/laziness/reasonable pricing. I'm close to my personal target but wanted support to work my way down (and maybe off - but with a chance to come back if I rediscover pies).

So I'm probably leaving after this pen, and maybe going curely as they are the same price or cheaper for the wegovy dose I take.

kittykarate · 11/02/2026 17:12

Phoned them up and cancelled, so I just don't fill out my next questionnaire and that's me done. Need to try and work out if I can download my weight details as was only tracking it in their app.

meatyryvita · 11/02/2026 17:40

I'm sticking with them and have just asked for the 4.8mg Wegovy dose. You can do live check ins or you can self report the email said (I thought it did - will double check!). I now that I will need to be on WLI long term and so a further 12 months doesn't bother me. SheMed have, for the most part, been excellent and so I prefer the comfort of sticking with what I know. I have about a stone to go and have really struggled for the past couple of weeks with food noise and hunger on 2.4mg, so I really hope that they let me try the 4.8.
