Exactly. My dad has months and months worth of his meds. He gets given two inhalers at a time (every month!) so he can build a stock because it would be awful if he ran out. You can ask your doctor for more than one months worth of your meds if you’re going on holiday etc., I don’t know why people get so precious when it comes to Mounjaro

'Not my view' alert !!!!!! but perhaps true for others :(

Maybe because they equate lots of pens with being greedy or gluttonous? 'Those fatties unable to control themselves. They'll probably take it all at once and eat the box too. Tsk..... '

If lots of people can't see, feel or imagine the sheer level of unhappiness, impact and desperation to be different with WLI, they sure aint gonna empathize with much else. sigh.

Anyway, go us - we are all amazing x

I think in 'normal' times, the scrutiny we're subjected to by most on-line pharmacies is tougher than we often experience in face to face consults with GPs. My GP couldn't even record my height accurately, told me I'd have to wait 5 years to have my borderline high cholesterol checked again (I went for private blood tests), don't read their notes prior to seeing you, etc, etc. I'm sure we've all got our own stories.

What we've seen in the last couple of weeks is unprecedented and will settle down. Knee jerk regulatory responses will only lead to higher costs, more inconvenience and barriers for us, the patients. And those who want to get their hands on these meds when they're not eligible or to misuse them will still find a way. The powers haven't found a way to do this effectively to control the private prescribing of much more dangerous, addictive medications- please don't ask them to mess up the supply of WLIs, just because you're a bit shocked or put out or whatever.

Agree. I've experienced much greater regulation and professional attention whilst being prescribed MJ than I ever did with the contraceptive pill from the NHS, for example. Monthly reviews instead of six monthly. And my GP always prescribed competently and according to guidelines, so it's not even about fuck ups.

I understand why greater regulation sounds nice, meanwhile there's a shortage of all healthcare professionals and of retail pharmacists. It's debatable whether we actually have the capacity in either system to manage this, and just picking one is a double standard.

I do hope Oushk had exactly zero unanswered customer messages while making this. Reading the room doesn't seem to be a strength...

I think you’re probably spot on. If a generous estimate is approx 1 million current users in the UK (based on 1.5million current users of a WLI and ‘over half’ on MJ) that’s a tiny, tiny minnow compared to the American market.

The uk market is so different from the American market. There is a very low and slow role out with NHS. Most UK users pay privately and not via insurance. I dare say Eli Lilly probably felt they were are near saturation point in the uk WLI market. Paying for MJ is a luxury for some, they know the price increase will force a lot of users off Mounjaro

Hira was also on a Radio 2 news bulletin yesterday about Mounjaro. I think it's safe to say that they want the media attention / to be famous.

HereIGoOnceMore · 31/08/2025 08:37

To be fair, I’d rather hear Hira on this who at least knows her stuff than two of the other industry bods who seem to have become talking heads. One of whom bought their Dr title online in Europe.

Yes, EL doesn’t care. Best to move to a pharma company that actually wants to be in the U.K. market.

Doggymummar · 31/08/2025 10:15

I don't get love adoration and hate for Oushk. They seem very polarising. I use them to get my stuff and they are just an online pharmacy, like ordering from Amazon or any other online shop. The fans in the online forum are another level. Posting to say thanks for a delivery etc, as if the staff know who they are it's quite bizarre. I just had my supermarket shop delivered, I don't pop on X to say thank you, I find it very odd.

Who is this?

hahhah yes crazy saying thank you. They have our profit.

ReluctantCustomer · 31/08/2025 12:01

I’m currently with Ouskh, but I think they’ve handled this very poorly, and their social media presence, plus the fan girls, puts me right off. Looking at Pharmulous for my next order.

This is what I'm wavering over.

By the time I've finished my current and next pen I'll be at or nigh on 25, and will want to move to the lowest dose for maintenance. From what I can see, there's only about £30 a month difference between MJ and Wegovy on the lowest doses, which luckily isn't a big deal for me- had previously thought I'd probably switch to save money. But now I'm balancing the risk and inconvenience of moving to a new medication with the greater reassurance of being with a non US company. Not an easy decision.

Sux2buthen · 31/08/2025 12:53

I ordered from medexpress on the 20th, 5mg. They emailed several times just to reassure me my pen was secured and guaranteed and yesterday messaged me to say actually it’s not after all but they have 2.5. I’ve asked to change to 2.5 and they’ve agreed, I’m hoping it actually goes through it’s taking a very long time

But a Mounjaro pen has 5 doses and a Wegovy pen only 4 so the cost per dose must be about the same? For roughly the same cost I would stick to the one you know works for you. At least for now.

Ah good point, I have been doing 5.

FoxRedPuppy · 31/08/2025 14:53

I don’t do the 5th dose and I’m currently on 5mg and the price increase is a lot, especially if I need to go to 7.5mg

Will you move to wegovy then?

Puppylucky · 31/08/2025 15:13

The point I was making about the behaviour of the online pharmacies, was less about how lax or otherwise, they have been in allowing multiple purchases etc, it was more about some questionable marketing practices. SheMed positioned themselves as a medical research company, studying the impact of MJ on women's weight and health, to get people to sign up long term, only to completely drop any pretence at scientific rigour following the price increase, by offering everyone the option to move to Wegovy or pay some of the steepest prices on the market to continue on MJ. There is a thread on here with angry and confused people, who genuinely believed they were part of an exclusive group, who would somehow be protected from market price increases by dint of being part of a serious study. Oushk have created a social media led experience around a prescription only medicine, complete with fun TikToks and a members only club. These are not the ways in which serious pharmacy players should be conducting themselves and it's this I believe should be regulated - not patient access particularly.

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 31/08/2025 15:14

I’m moving to Wegovy. Medicine Marketplace are charging £98 per pen up to 1mg (it jumps to £149 for 1.7mg). I’m titrating down and am currently on 7.5mg MJ so the price difference is significant, even taking into account the fifth dose.

FoxRedPuppy · 31/08/2025 15:43

PutThe · 31/08/2025 15:07

I think so. I’m doing some reading on it. I have considered doing the 5th dose this month, but as yet I haven’t ordered any needles.

ForGladBee · 31/08/2025 15:50

If. Mcrodose mournjaro will it lose potentecy if left in fridge not opened for 6 weeks

FurForksSake · 31/08/2025 16:16

What do you mean by unopened? It has a use by date on the box, so you are fine to keep it until then unopened. If you’ve used a dose I don’t think anyone can say if and when it will lose potency, but up to 30 days it obviously doesn’t lose any potency at all, so by six weeks or an additional 12 days it may have lost none at all but also may have started.

there are people that have used pens for extended use; but their experience will be limited in scientific rigour and repeatability.

So, I reckon you’ll be fine, but no one can actually tell you.

If the cost is an issue, why not try using the 5th dose? It’s too expensive to throw away, especially now! It can be done within the 30 days.

Mostly because every time I look at ordering needles I get a bit overwhelmed as to which ones to get. I know that sounds daft! And I keep losing the links that people share.

You can buy 1ml luer lock syringes and needles separately and use one for drawing up and another for injecting, but that’s a faff and may increase or decrease chance of infection. These are what diabetics use to draw up and inject. I find sometimes I have to push it in my skin slightly more firmly than the pen.
