My local pharmacy supplies them, says they're happy to do maintenance and happy to accept proof of previous prescribing now that I'm a normal BMI. The only reason I didn't switch was that I had a cheaper maintenance plan from an online pharmacy. That might change now, I don't know what their new prices will be locally.

LaGioiosanotLeviosa · 28/08/2025 18:25

Kipperandarthur · 28/08/2025 17:42

My local pharmacist has told me he can supply a maximum of x 3 pens at a time if you are travelling or going on holiday etc. This is pretty standard.

Just before the price hike I was able to purchase 3 pens from him as was another local lady I know.

If anything the standards are higher from an in person pharmacist. And surprisingly my local pharmacy is cheaper at the lower doses, equivalent at the middle two but is more expensive at the top two with the recent price increases.

Day Lewis pharmacy - the local one I use is as follows for September onwards
2.5 £133
5 £180
7.5 £255
10 £255
12.5 £330
15 £330

Does anyone know if Day Lewis prices are UK wide or do they vary from area to area? I can’t find any prices online, it just says to go in for a consultation.
I would consider going local if they are competitive, I would be able to use them as my bmi not as low as 27 yet and I have high bp so presume I would qualify.

I don't know if they are UK wide prices for Day Lewis - they are a chain of x 300.

In fairness my local branch doesn't actually advertise what the prices are online and you only find out during the consultation. But then you can take a photo of the prices and they remain what they are stated as.

Why not make an appointment at your local pharmacy? They don't charge for the appointment. Mine has also said he will do maintenance but has stressed that in maintenance he won't let me chase down an unhealthy BMI. Fat chance of that at the moment it's going to take ages for me to get to that level. I discussed right at the outset that I would want to stay on a 2.5mg dose or similar for at least a year at maintenance.

The thing about seeing the same pharmacist every month is that you do build up a rapport and a proper dialogue as to how you are getting on and whether you want to move up a dose or not. I've got a completely separate health issue at present going on and have discussed this with him far more than WLI and it feels quite supportive.

Sheldon4k · 29/08/2025 09:51

Online Clinic have just sent email re prices:
Mounjaro Prices:
2.5mg £179.99
5mg £219.99
7.5mg £289.99
10mg £329.99
12.5mg £349.99
15mg £369.99
As a valued patient, you will also receive a 10% discount on all future orders.

This is slightly better with the 10% than their initial price showing on my repeat subscription (of £212.50 for 5mg), however previously subscription was 15% discount so that has reduced also.

Doggymummar · 29/08/2025 13:27

Anything over £300 is nuts. Surely no one will be paying that?

underthebed · 29/08/2025 14:54

Phlo have just sent out their pricing. 2.5mg is actually going down in price.

2.5mg
£169
(£149 intro offer)

5mg
£199

7.5mg
£249

10mg
£279

12.5mg
£299

15mg
£329

I believe people will, not me.
It's on par with a monthly car finance repayment.

Sadly I think it will depend on how desperate people are and if they have other options. Those that need Mounjaro the most for chronic health reasons will make sacrifices if they are able - perhaps hoping after a couple of years on it they can taper down to cheaper doses or come off.

The cruelest part is for many, who really do need it, it has priced it completely out of their reach.

NotPerfectlyAdverage · 29/08/2025 17:26

£300 is to much. It will be interesting to see if any discounts come back..I "think" I have secured a pen from IQ Dr and Juniper now ( IQ ordered on the 14th, Juniper a few days ago as they was showing stock and IQ wasn't approving.

I was loosing slowly at 1lb a week. But now at double the price I want to loose the weight and come off asap. I have been at 5mg for months then went up to 7.5mg and came back to 5mg. I'm going to have to go back up to the highest level I can tolerate now.

My phone was only £150. I wouldn't be a new iPhone every year and let's be honest 12 x 300 is £3600. The iPhone 16 pro is £999. Or that's 7 years of car insurance.

It is a scam saying there is no stock. There is loads of stock otherwise we wouldn't have been able to get them, but we did and so could they. They are deliberately holding stock until the price increase. My boss said as much, he isn't unscrupulous like a lot of pharmacist are.

Lilly are holding stock.

re prices - I’m glad I’ve stocked up and I can wait to see where it settles in a couple of weeks

DottyMcDiet · 29/08/2025 17:35

My local independent pharmacy in the outskirts of a small town is selling it though aren’t advertising the service.

I just saw people disappearing into the consulting room and I could see the box through the bag in the hand of someone coming out. I spoke to the pharmacist and they have 2 prescribing pharmacists.

He said I’d get it cheaper on line and did I initially, but on going back after this pricing debacle I went and got a 10mg syringe in my hand in 5 mins.

I get my usual meds from there so he already had access to all that and didn’t even weigh me (I’m visibly obese to be fair) just took my word for it and I showed him a photo of my last box.

He said he’d only about 30 customers and had plenty of stock so wasn’t going to be raising prices until October and that I could go back for another at the end of September - I could have kissed him! 😁

MissFancyDay · 29/08/2025 17:53

Zava have emailed me their new prices, sorry if anyone has already posted. They've started charging them already!! They said that Lilley refused to give them any more stock at old prices and it has all been sold.

Mounjaro 2.5 mg - 1 pen - 4 dose(s) £169.99

Mounjaro 5 mg - 1 pen - 4 dose(s) £199.99

Mounjaro 7.5 mg - 1 pen - 4 dose(s) £249.99

Mounjaro 10 mg - 1 pen - 4 dose(s) £279.99

Mounjaro 12.5 mg - 1 pen - 4 dose(s). £299.99

Mounjaro 15 mg - 1 pen - 4 dose(s). £309.99

I'm a bit disappointed, I was hoping for under £300 for the highest dose. Just going to wait for it all to settle and start shopping around.

FurForksSake · 29/08/2025 17:55

Have they always stated 4 doses? I’m wondering if and when these pens will come in with less medication in them.

That's a point. I can't remember.

MissFancyDay · 29/08/2025 18:03

I don't think the pens will have changed somehow, surely it would have got out if all the new stock was different. They already have loads of stock at new prices.

They are still supposed to weigh you, or you are supposed to weigh yourself to make sure the meds are working.

I feel very sorry for those who are in desperate need for this medication. It was already expensive for a lot of people and it's life changing for some. The whole situation stinks and I hope something is done to stop these companies hiking the prices up like this.

He asked what my starting weight pre Mounjaro in May and current weight was.
I’ve gone from a BMI of 42 to 37 so it’s barn door obvious that I qualify.

Choux · 29/08/2025 19:13

There was a story about Mounjaro prices and lack of stock tonight on the BBC 6 o’clock news. They said an estimated 1.5m were taking weight loss drugs in the UK and over half were believed to be on Mounjaro. If half are that’s 750k people.

Bolt pharmacy have a transparent pricing summary on their website. They say the price they charge covers operating costs like prescribing, storage, packaging and posting. Plus £29 profit per pen which is for reinvesting into growing the business etc (and making the owner rich lol)

750k pens sold per month at £29 per pen is £21.75m per month or £261m per year. That’s not the revenue - that’s the profits! This market is huge and some of these providers will have invested big to get a larger share of this market. If they see sales fall they might well cut their prices. Selling a pen for £10 or £20 profit is much better than not selling a pen at all. We might well see a lot of reductions especially on the higher dose pens which are topping £300.

I sadly can't take WLI (recovering bulimic) but even if I could there's no way I could afford £300 a month (if that's how long pens last). Is Ozempic the cheaper alternative now?

Yes apparently but its called wegovy here. I would think about ozempic but I like how MJ works on insulin resistance.

Puppylucky · 29/08/2025 20:31

This has been brewing in my head for a while so apologies for the rant! I think if this whole mess has shown anything, it's that the whole online pharmacy market really needs to be regulated. From the parasocial model of Oushk, to the fake clinical trial model of SheMed, all I'm seeing is people who have been let down by an industry that's supposed to support people. On line, there appears to be a move towards pushing all the blame for this mess onto EL, but I don't think that is fair. If this situation results in a shakeout of companies, so only the biggest and most professional survive then I don't think that's a bad thing.

HereIGoOnceMore · 29/08/2025 20:47

I agree to an extent Puppy and obviously safety needs to be paramount. But I wouldn’t want to see the online model removed entirely. I don’t want to go to a pharmacy every month to be weighed or to lose the option of receiving WLI by delivery.

I agree. What this situation has shown is that there needs to be greater regulation; they are issuing prescription drugs. I had no idea it would be possible to order multiple pens from multiple suppliers. Tighter regulation should benefit the consumer.

I think tighter regulation benefits the supplier more than the consumer. If you make something harder to get, companies increase prices to claw back profit. What I think should be happening is the government looking at who would actually benefit from this medication via the NHS and relaxing the criteria for eligibility through official channels.

NotPerfectlyAdverage · 29/08/2025 21:58

My friend is buying off the black market. A friend's daughter is a beautician and somehow supply's her with vials that my friend dilutes down..God knows where that comes from. I think there will a rise in that. She is trying to get it via the nhs but obviously there is zero record of her taking it. My gp knows I'm on it and sent me the warning about it making the pill less reliable. They mention it when I phoned up about my mood and exhaustion. They take it into consideration as much as the drugs they prescribe me.

I do think this past few weeks has been very eye opening for a prescription only drug, it did feel like the wild west
