Anyone had other unexpected benefits on MJ ? My bleeding gums have resolved!

Life long problem….see hygienist every 3 months at £90 a pop - just noticed they don’t bleed anymore - must be inflammation getting sorted? I have also been doing intermittent fasting so could be that also?

My gum health has also massively improved. I think it's a combination of not constantly eating things like crisps, biscuits etc, having longer gaps between eating, not drinking lots of acidic "diet" drinks anymore plus the anti-inflammatory action of Mounjaro. I've moved from 3 month appointments to 6 months now too.

afaloren · 17/08/2025 09:48

I…had not even thought about it but me too!!!

PotatoBreadForTheWin · 17/08/2025 09:50

I had my 6 monthly trip to the hygienist last week and she was very complimentary about my gums! All the scores were better

Fatmumslim01 · 17/08/2025 09:50

Yep... early hum disease has gone and I used to have mouth ulcers approx every 3 weeks, in 22 weeks on mj I've not had one!

Minor bowel issue has sorted.

Plantar faciitis gone although that could be the weight loss itself but it was very quick after starting MJ

I'm calmer and less anxious

I'll be doing all I can to stay on it!

SecretNameAsImShy · 17/08/2025 09:52

I am due at the dentist in a couple of weeks so I’ll see how that goes. For me the biggest thing has been the reduction in the shopping bill. I walk round the supermarket and am surprised that I’ve not spent as much. Family are constantly moaning that there are no cakes, crisps, biscuits etc in the house though! 😂😂😂

HeidiNotSoHeavy · 17/08/2025 09:52

Perioral dermatitis that I've had since I was in my early teens - gone.
In past few years, kept getting eczema outbreaks occasionally - gone.
Hip pain, struggled with it for a few years, several doctors and physios, and none of them suggested it could be weight related - gone.
Oh and my rough elbows are really soft and smooth.

WeAllHaveWings · 17/08/2025 10:14

I was able to more easily use interdental brushes, and larger ones, after a few weeks on Mounjaro. Hygienist says unlikely to significantly improve the existing pockets as have been there for too long but will really help further deterioration. mouth overall feels so much healthier.

On reading your message I checked my elbows which are normally like rhino skin - they aren't dry and are actually quite soft too! 😲

Invisablepanic · 17/08/2025 11:22

My migraines have stopped - touch wood! Also my heartburn has gone.

Unfortunately my skin is very dry now but that could be peri rather than MJ.

Beychella4 · 17/08/2025 11:33

Yes, my gums are in much better shape.

I was also awaiting surgery at the breast clinic for a reoccurring breast abscess, 3 years I’d been suffering and no cause had been found, it just kept coming back when antibiotics were finished. 3 months on MJ and it just disappeared and hasn’t come back in a year! Previously it would hide for around 4-6 weeks.

I also felt MJ was helping my psoriasis but that unfortunately has come back recently, likely related to summer stresses.

JustPinkFinch · 17/08/2025 19:33

@Beychella4 I developed a BA after breast feeding. Have they aspirated yours? The only thing that got rid of mine was about 4 separate needle aspirations (unpleasant but not painful) and then specifically targeted antibiotics. Just mentioning as AB's alone would not have sorted it....they aspirated 280ml first time round 🤢

(hopefully yours won't come back, but just in case)

SwitchingUpWLI · 17/08/2025 19:38

Yes same here with the gums!! Didn’t realise until you pointed it out! Think it is having a positive effect on inflammation

1clavdivs · 17/08/2025 19:57

Me too - went to the hygienist the other week and she commented on how much less inflamed they are and how the pocketing has reduced. I'm not doing anything any different - it's a lifelong issue for me, so this is a very welcome benefit.

MyScaredCat · 17/08/2025 22:38

I hadn’t realised until I read someone above: I was getting a mouth ulcer every couple of weeks. Not a one since MJ!

usedtobeaylis · 17/08/2025 22:52

Oh wow, same here with both gums and elbows!

Prior to Mounjaro I had very painful heels, I always say I walked like the man from Men In Black after the alien has taken over his body. I was about to see a GP for it because it had been suggested I might have heel spurs. They actually stopped being painful within a few weeks and before I'd lost very much weight so I can only guess it was an inflammation issue that ultimately resolved very quickly.

Pieceofpurplesky · 18/08/2025 01:31

My ADHD is quieter.
And thanks to the PP I have realised my elbows are soft and smooth!

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 18/08/2025 06:13

My plantar fasciitis doesn't seem to have been impacted sadly but I've just checked my elbows and yes, they do seem much softer and smoother! What a random benefit!

My IBS is so so so much better!

And as a result of this thread I've realised I now have soft elbows. Amazing

usedtobeaylis · 18/08/2025 10:34

Anyone else just keep feeling their elbows now 😂

babylone · 18/08/2025 11:10

Three months on 2.5mg and no changes in my (often bleeding) gums - just wanted to put it here for balance.
i do feel more energised and that is good.
i do feel like it is harder for my body to fight off infections… not sure if it is die to MJ or no…

Claudette7934 · 18/08/2025 11:28

Loads!

Heartburn gone
Menopause symptoms reduced
No aching joints
Hayfever symptoms reduced

Mrsmounjaro · 18/08/2025 12:54

Not had a coldsore since i started mj over a year ago- used to get them 2 or 3 times a year- mindblowing

Mrsmounjaro · 18/08/2025 12:54

And i also have lovely soft elbows 😁

CMOTDibbler · 18/08/2025 13:00

DH has terrible arthritis, and the oedema on one leg in particular was awful - you could see the fluid under his skin from mid thigh right into his foot. In 3 months on MJ it had all gone like some sort of magic.
My recurrent tendonitis has been waaay better
