I have just signed up, although yet to have to fully confirmed with Jupiter. I am vegetarian although have more vegan days. I like a drink but realise this will change as it makes you feel ill I believe. I am 5ft 4 and 12 stone 8 and 50 years old. What to expect really? I like eating out but there is never a good time so just plan to have a couple of healthy days before it arrives and just start without putting it off.

Jupiter? Or Juniper?

If it’s Juniper, watch out for the price being hiked for your second and subsequent orders - they are very expensive without the new customer discount. And also watch out for the fact that it’s a subscription service, so they’ll take payment and send out your next prescription automatically, unless you cancel or change it before the cut off.

I’m a similar age and height, also vegetarian, currently weigh 12st 6lbs, having been on Mounjaro for just over a year now. Starting weight was 22st.

What to expect? It varies per individual but hopefully you’ll start to notice a decrease in your appetite, getting fuller quicker and staying fuller longer. I don’t drink, but some people report that they lose all interest in alcohol. It can take several weeks for the full effects to kick in, or it can take a day. Depends on how you react to the medication. Good luck with it, and consider finding the August starters thread to chat to people who are around the same stage as you.

GreenL6 · 10/08/2025 18:05

Juniper! Sorry must have autocorrected! Well done on you losing nearly 10 stone. I hope to get to 9 stone ish. I have heard of the hike in prices but suppose it will never be cheap and it will be worth it. Looks like they offer good support but not experienced it yet. I had to submit new photos today as I had taken them with a dress on. Felt very embarrassed with a bare stomach although I know they will be private. I am looking forward to starting and getting myself back.

I started in May and have been incredibly lucky really. No negative side effects at all, been losing weight consistently from week one. I’ve lost four stone in 14 weeks.

My eating habits have changed completely, I barely think about food now. No more than that it’s fuel, I eat when I’m hungry, stop when I’m full. It’s revolutionary 😂

The types of food I want to eat are completely different too, I drink litres of water a day, despite never having drunk plain water in my life.

All around it’s just been fantastic! I hope you love it as much as I do!

SilenceInside · 10/08/2025 18:11

Check out https://monj.co.uk for a price comparison site. Juniper are so much more expensive, and I personally think that all the "support" offered is not worth the large price difference. Juniper will be £209 for a 5mg pen, or £189 for another 2.5mg pen if you stay on the same dose. Other suppliers are offering 2.5mg or 5mg for around £110 to £130 without discounts, and even cheaper with a new customer discount.

I hope so OneCoralCat! I never wore a bikini when I was thin in my youth but am aiming to wear one next summer, I hope, even if it is in the garden😂

You are not starting off massively overweight, so one thing I would caution is to be realistic in your expectations for weekly loss. 1-2 lbs a week is really normal, I’ve been on it coming up on a year now and average 1.6lbs, some weeks I have a bigger loss, others I have none or gain.

You need to work with the medication not against it so be honest with yourself about what you are eating and how much. It is designed to regulate and optimise your insulin production, it also slows your digestion.

Starving yourself is a sure fire way to end up feeling rubbish, make a concerted effort to eat a reasonable amount of calories (500 below TDEE), try to eat whole foods most of the time and plenty of protein, fibre and good fats. Limit carbs to 1/4 of your plate or about 20% of your overall intake and where possible pick complex variations like whole grain bread instead of white.

Ive gone from obese to lower half of healthy BMI, from size 22/24 to 10/12 and my most recent blood tests showed my diabetes is in remission. I cannot say enough how great I think Mounjaro is but it is an aid not magic so to get the best from it you need to make the right choices most of the time.

GreenL6 · 10/08/2025 18:17

I will look SilenceInside at the site thank you, but as I have signed up for juniper I will stick for now to start, I need to know that I have continuous supply then but should be able to switch? I tried another company and they wanted medical records which my GP just wasn't doing after weeks and requests. Just want to get started.

FurForksSake · 10/08/2025 18:17

Honestly, the support will not be worth the extra price. Just go with the cheapest from the link above.

You might feel nauseous or constipated, that’s normal and will pass. Really concentrate on getting your fibre and protein in and you will get there. Don’t expect weight loss for the first month, it takes time.

i track calories using an app and find it helpful as otherwise I feel I could have a very poor sense of the makeup of foods.

use it as a tool to learn from, try and keep active and see it as a new lifestyle.

you may need supplements, I take biotin, iron and magnesium.

InfoSecInTheCity · 10/08/2025 18:22

Oh and water.

Water, Water, Water!

Helps with constipation, helps you feel full, is necessary 8n the chemical process to break down fat and in the process to heal muscles.

The weeks I don’t drink enough water I don’t lose weight. Still can’t get the bastarding habit to actually take hold though and it’s a daily battle to remember to drink the sodding stuff.

GreenL6 · 10/08/2025 18:24

InfoSecInTheCity excellent about your diabetes in remission! That is such good news. I love carbs but assume I won't desire them in the same quantity. I do eat healthy for the most part but it is my portions and picking when cooking. Thank you, it means a lot.

FurForksSake as I have been waiting weeks with another provider and Juniper looks very hopefully, I am going to start with them and then can go from there. Hopefully I can change after a month or so, I dont want to miss a dose once started. Agree about supplements, I have some here but will need more. Thank you

Will sparkling water be ok or needs to be still?

A bikini in the garden is a solid goal!!

im going to a wedding in October and I’d decided I couldn’t have one more wedding where I was desperately trying to find any old tent I could pull on to go in. I want to wear something I actually like and be proud to have my photo taken with my friends! 🤞

Any liquid that is clear seems to be fine, I don’t like plain water so have squash or flavoured sparkling water or iced black coffee without milk.

You will look amazing I am sure and feel very proud of yourself. I know how you feel about the tent, look in the mirror and think what have I done to myself. Really hoping this is my new future. Good luck and enjoy choosing a new outfit x

@GreenL6 I’ve used several different suppliers and none have ever asked for my medical records from my GP. I have recently used WePrescribe and Swift who were both super quick and straightforward.

Morrisons supermarket did and took ages to ask for what they wanted, bit by bit, took my money and eventually cancelled. They still hadn't refunded but it is now pending as an incoming transaction. My GP said they had sent medical records summery but they said they hadn't. I ran out of patience as it had been 4 weeks! Good to know that others do not ask, GPs are busy enough.

Be realistic about what your weight loss will look like, I'm 58, started in Feb with similar statistics to you, a few pounds under, nearly at 9 stone now, the last 2 or 3 months have been a lot slower.
I went in blind not really thinking about anything apart from the weight loss, quite frankly I look awful, saggy loose skin,my legs and arms are horrendous, it's really aged me, be mindful that losing weight quickly post menopausal is not the same as young folk, if you eat protein, drink water and do exercise it will mitigate some of this but I honestly didn't think I'd look this bad, I look OK clothed though, but a bikini no way, I looked better fat.

daffodilandtulip · 10/08/2025 19:03

I wish I had taken measurements to compare as well as pictures. I wish I had started collagen from the start, as I'm having good effects from it months in, but wonder if my wrinkly tummy would have gone by now if I'd used it all along.

MeridaBrave · 10/08/2025 19:20

I’m also 5 4 and I’m 50. I’m now pretty much at goal. I used SheMed. It’s an interesting pricing model. It’s £160 each month (including postage) regardless of what dose. So works out well for those who end up needing a higher dose. There is a live check in (with a person) each week when you stand on scales. In terms of what to expect, it’s just put me right of snacking, or seconds: so I decide what to eat, and I eat it it. I’ve lost around 1kg a week.

Drinks do not matter at all as long as it’s enough, drink Diet Coke and coffee if you want to! I can’t tell you the last time I drank a glass of water but I’m properly hydrated.

id also add find ways of exercising to build and sustain muscle, it is very important.

and also eat meals in a specific order, you can get full quickly so start with foods with the highest nutrition, I just had protein, veg and carbs and could have filled up on the protein but made sure I had enough vegetables and ate the carbs last. Sometimes I can get full very suddenly and that’s irritating!

Oh heck yes, I was aware of that but as not too too overweight was hoping this would be ok. I will look into supplements, thank you. I am sure you're being harder on yourself that someone else would be and being a healthy weight better long term. Take care and thank you.

Thank you, looking into collagen now. I'm sure you are looking great with the weight loss.
