Hi all,

Do any of you have experience with the injections not working? My dad has been on them for a couple months but he is still interested in eating quite a lot. He also eats junk like crisps, ice cream, and sugary drinks. How is this possible??

My sons friend is barely losing weight and fed up. But he says she's always eating takeaways and at weekends drinking and partying.

Is he in America? Or is he uk ordering it from America?

How much does he weigh and his BMI

this is all important info which you haven't said. Also is it wegovy or mounjaro.

The starting dose overall is not a weight loss dose. It's to help your body adapt. ( much more complex but easier to say)

Has he done his TDEE to work our the calories he needs each day. And also the amount of protein?

These injections are good when used correctly and for the correct demographic of people. But no one can advise unless you give more info.

He is in America. I don’t know the brand or dosage, and it’s sensitive to bring up. He is quite overweight. He needs to lose weight to extend his life. I recently visited him and was confused to see his eating habits. This thread is helping me understand that the injections are not a silver bullet and still require willpower for behavioral changes to happen.

They don’t work for everyone.

He needs to make sure he follows the storage instructions. The injections make it easier to lose weight but they don’t do all of the work. He still needs to take responsibility for his diet.

I say this eating a kit kat and having a cuppa. Some ‘treats’ are fine. I’ve lost nearly 3 1/2 stones so far.

Interesting. I’ll check his storage practices.

Please help him by getting yourself armed with details. It's scary he is getting them without a full guide. But I guess America is different. Please find the brand and dose. His weigh and bmi and I'm sure people here will help guide you. Obviously you can't use here as a full guide but if u need advice please ask once you get more details. You sound like a good daughter.

Do you still eat dessert after lunch and dinner almost every day? That’s what he’s doing.

You need to find out what dose he is on, he may need a higher dose to get the suppression! I’m on 15mgs and I struggle to eat a full main meal. I haven’t eaten a dessert in ages! Unless he makes lifestyle changes it’s not going to work as it’s also about having a healthy lifestyle!

Really interesting. I'm someone on low dose (in keeping private prescription cost down, the higher dose the more money it costs) who feels these injections have stopped working but feel caught as it has diabetes into remission.

Couple of thoughts: How long has the person been on the injections?
and do they take any other medication which 'may' have a cancelling out effect.
I just say about the length of time on the injections as I have been on the older ones which were daily taken - Saxenda and always remember that came with guidance that you needed to lose a certain % of body weight in a certain time frame for it be considered as working, yet there seems no such guidance readily exists for weekly injections.

The only thing I can safely say I'm turned off by is a certain fast food restaurant, to my credit I've remained as active as I can be, but neither can you walk yourself out of a bad diet and on the other yes you can starve yourself but does that help long term.

What were you eating? MJ doesn’t stop weight loss so if you were eating within a calorie defect and not losing any weight you need to see your GP to investigate the underlying cause.

Oh i have hypothyroidism, i naturally have to eat under or i will gain. On Mounjaro i had 0 appetite so theres a school ot thought that i didnt lose weight because i wasnt eating well, when i did eat it was usually crap which doesnt bode well. I am just glad i stopped, its nice to feel well
