W6D1. Still on 2.5mg.

Lost 3.5lbs this week! I was a bit surprised, but there you go. I’m only 0.5lb away from being in the 12st range… so close!

I will need to watch things though as I don’t want to lose too quickly, and 3.5lbs seems a lot for one week, aside from that first week when many people drop a lot quickly.

I had quite a bit of nausea and gut discomfort over the weekend. I don’t know if it was all MJ though: DD’s had an upset stomach for a lot of the week so I wouldn’t be surprised if I picked up something from her. It meant on Saturday & Sunday that I didn’t eat a great deal, especially in the mornings/lunchtimes. Was often feeling a bit better in the evenings.

Will take my 6th dose of 2.5mg later.

Well done to everyone on their losses and hopefully SEs are minimal!

SomethingAboutYou · 21/07/2025 09:48

Had a heavy weekend of eating and drinking (was away for a family celebration) so I'm 1.6lbs heavier today than friday! I found myself not finishing large restaurant meals but was able to eat any type of food and alcohol went down without any issues 🫣 I definitely need to hit that 3.75mg later this week as 2.5mg is clearly doing something but not enough 😂 I did want to enjoy this weekend and not be fraught with side effects or not able to enjoy the meals out etc so it was the ideal scenario. And yesterday my hangover calorie day wasn't half as bad as I'd usually hit pre-MJ. I don't have any big events like that again until end of the year so hopefully can focus again for the next few months and buy something a couple of dress sizes smaller for the next one 🤞

LongGinShortTonic · 21/07/2025 11:15

Well I was going to figure out what 3.75 was and do that, but the joys of summer holidays...I ended up hearing my DC come downstairs so in a panic I did the full 5mg and jabbed as fast as I could! I'm off on holiday for a few days on Thursday, so I'm hoping it's not like last week with side effects, but we shall see. Did treat myself to a chinese last night, and wine, and am definitely feeling it today. If it is like last week, I think I'm going to have to go down to 2.5 again.

Ah well. Let the moral of the story be to lock myself away 😂

NSV - I did my fastest swim and fastest run times ever in my tri yesterday. DEFINITELY easier with what is now 1 stone off.

RJmama · 21/07/2025 12:09

@LongGinShortTonic well done on the triathlon! I’m only a swimmer and admire people who are able to compete well in more than one discipline.

Crinklecat · 21/07/2025 12:18

Update after jabbing 5mg for the first time last night. Woke up feeling a bit hungry but didn’t fancy anything so just had my electrolytes. Just made a 300 calorie high protein lunch and only managed half before feeling so full and a bit sick 😳 last week I was having a 300 ish calorie breakfast and 300 calorie ish lunch with no problems so seems to have made a difference

Xmasfairy86 · 21/07/2025 12:50

jabbed W8D1 saturday night, that was the last of my 2.5, I bit the bullet and have a 5mg pen arriving this week.
mainly to try and curb the snacking that had increased, as my exercise has increased, my appetite has, so I think I need more help again!

Jabbed in my belly rather than thigh and no red mark or bruise this time.

Thank you! And I certainly wouldn’t say I am any good at them. It was my third and final one - I was scuppered on times thanks to strong headwinds on the bike. Ah well. I did it, and now I’m done doing them 😁

Catladyof7 · 21/07/2025 14:23

I am having suppression as i did 3.75 on Saturday , but everything i eat ..which isnt much tastes horrible now . Nothing tastes the same .

I also seem to have stagnated and struggling to lose .
I am just under 12 stone , but cant seem to get the last 2lb off to get under that .
I wonder if i am not eating enough ?

I calorie count everything, milk in my drinks as well, i eat 1000 calories a day , often under that .
I am only 5ft 1 inches tall and did check all that and that was what i should have in calories to lose weight .
I will be going to 5mg this Friday but no aide effects so far .
Headaches , but i get them a little anyway and the weather is not helping .
I still have 3 stone to lose .
Today was the first day of week 5 .
Have lost around 8lbs so far .

DD517 · 21/07/2025 15:26

Third week of 5mg and side effects get easier each week - hardly any so far. Took my dose on saturday, not much interest in food yesterday but today seem to be ravenous! Mostly making good choices but not sure of its the weather or i'm bored! Struggled concentrating at work today too.

Have just ordered 5mg for a second month, going into month three. Slow losses on 5 so tempted to increase for the 4th pen but don't want to do it too quickly & be stuck paying for a more expensive higher dose when i may not need too!

DD517 · 21/07/2025 15:27

Well done everyone on your losses and NSV!

Nerdippy · 21/07/2025 15:32

@Catladyof7

Yes, I am much the same.

Have lost around 9lbs, but am on week 7, took second 5mg jab on Saturday and I'm feeling very meh. Food is not tasting the same and even looking at meals is making me feel nauseous. I probably should have opted for 3.75mg.

I haven't been calorie counting but am definitely not eating more than 1000 calories a day.

I'm only 5'2" and want to weigh between 9-10 stone (and that is at the higher normal weight limit for my height with the NHS). Still have 2 stone to lose. However, I'm convincing myself that in my 60s , it wouldn't look good to be too slim and then also difficult to maintain afterwards, as I don't want to be on MJ indefinitely.

Edited

Feel the same and i am 68 so dont want to go to thin. Need to be around 9. - 9. 7 stone.
Currently seem to be stuck at 12.2 .

Not sure what to do next to help the weight move

healthjourney · 21/07/2025 17:03

@Catladyof7 if you've only just started week 5 then it can't have been very long your weight hasn't moved. Maybe you don't need to change anything yet and just carry on for another week or 2 and see what happens. Depending on age, weight, activity levels etc your deficit might only result in an average loss of 1lb per week, or less as you get closer to target, so it might take a while to see through the scale fluctuations and see a downward trend.

I was told on one of the websites to lose weight eat 1000 calories or less and i have kept to that strictly .
Maybe its my age (68)

I have a bmi of i think it was 33 .
I am only 5ft 1 inches tall

3 and a half stone to lose .
Managed the first 9lbs and not lost anything this last week .
Was wondering if i was not eating enough

or impatient !

Started around 12.10 - 12 .11.
currently 12.2 .

Gingercar · 21/07/2025 18:43

1000 calories sounds quite low. You m doing a pre diabetes course through the NHS and they say to maintain a stable weight a woman should have 2000 calories- take 500 off that for a deficit to lose weight. So even if you scale thst down a lot for a small woman, you still ought to have more than 1000, surely? You need to get adequate nutrition too.

I am day 2 of week 5 still on 2.5mg but not huge suppression I feel I’m using willpower to get by I do notice as long as I’m sticking to clean foods it’s ok if I try something naughty i want more and “think” I’m hungry , but it’s working but only if my water intake is good 3-4 litres if not nothing weight wise moves and I’m 5ft 2 and eating 1200-1500 cals a day. Honestly nearer the 1500 as when on 1000 a day the weight didn’t budge . Lots of protein but lost over a stone now and definitely noticing the inches . Everyone i know losing weight reckons it’s down to being very strict with the water intake . 😃

Cant remember which website. I put in my height , weight and age and it said to lose weight 1000 calories.
Maybe i did it wrong somehow ?

I am 2 litres a day of water, cant drink anymore as i fill so full. Also spend forever going up and downstairs to the loo .

Does anyone have the link to the video on extracting the golden dose which was posted (several times) on previous threads?
I thought I had saved it, but it's nowhere to be seen!

ChiaraMontague · 21/07/2025 21:07

I’m finding it bit of a challenge to get food right on the 5mg. I think I need to scale back my breakfast smoothie because it’s filling me up too much (to the point where I feel too full to even sip water) but then because I’m not getting any hunger cues later in the day I’m not realising I need to eat until I start feeling a bit wonky.
I’m thinking a smaller breakfast and smaller more frequent meals/snacks throughout the day might help. Has anyone else had this?

I did manage a proper dinner tonight, MIL dropped round with some home grown courgettes and runner beans so I had some of that with some pasta and veggie sauce. I feel better for having eaten although conscious there was no protein.

DontMowMyMeadow · 21/07/2025 21:17

Amazing @BadgerFace. Thank you!

BadgerFace · 22/07/2025 07:24

My post-holiday weigh in was 1lb up this morning which feels okay given the drinks and snacks I consumed. Back to work and focus on being careful on calories again today. Fingers crossed the holiday pound trots off soon and takes some mates with him!

I’ve been a bit hungry this morning (W8D6) so still weighing up moving up to 5mg or not. It’s an extra £40 on my provider. Or has anyone used a 2.5mg pen and gone up to 3.75mg? I will do the golden dose again this month so have some ‘extra’ in hand in terms of ordering pens/weeks use.

Librariesrule · 22/07/2025 07:27

W5 D1
Down another lb making a total of 11lbs. Jab day and moving up to 5mg.

DontMowMyMeadow · 22/07/2025 07:45

SW 14 8

Today is W5D1.
I'm so delighted to have lost 11lbs in 4 weeks! I feel so much better for it already.
I've had minimal SEs, just some manageable bowel issues and a dry mouth.
I've been disappointed this week though, as the weight has stayed the same, but there has been virtually no suppression nor saiety. I've managed to eat sensibly though.
Have to keep reminding myself that 11lbs in 4 weeks is a huge amount to lose.

Additional, bonus, unexpected positives:
My brain has calmed down. Most peculiar. A day or two after the first jab I realised that my head wasn't churning endlessly, and my relentlessly present anxiety had almost disappeared. This tailed off a little towards the end of the week. I assumed some kind of placebo effect. But it has happened after every jab. I haven't felt this calm for decades (am 60), if ever.
I am sleeping incredibly well. Sleep has been an issue, again, for decades. I can't remember the last time I had a decent nights sleep. Have grown used to chronic insomnia and being awake for several hours in the night. But it's been amazing this last month!
Joint stiffness and muscle aches have definitely reduced. I struggle at the gym, and do quite a bit of flexibility work and pilates to try to alleviate the stiffness. Had a yoga class last night, which I usually hate, and it was easier, verging on enjoyable.
I had no idea that MJ could have these effects.

I'm staying on 2.5mg, which in hindsight may have been a mistake. But we have a busy month ahead, with a lot of travelling up and down the country, and sole charge DGS6 for a couple of those weeks, so staying at this dose where I know the SEs are minimal may be the best option.
I intend to go up to 5mg in September.

Finally, if you're still reading this, a huge thank you to all of you in the June group, you amazing inspirational bunch.
