Hi all, after struggling with my weight I've finally decided to take the plunge and try Mounjaro.
My BMI is currently 30.9, so im classed as obese at 13 stone 5.
I've tried diet after diet and the hunger just gets too much for me. I feel like im constantly thinking about food and its making me miserable.
I know there's lots of threads on here, and I will have a read through them, but I suppose im just wanting some reassurance. I suffer with anxiety, and I am worried about starting. Are these injections safe? I've been looking at Med Express. Thankyou x

I haven't lost any hair even after a 5 stone loss.

I think most people have some concerns to start with but honestly, they’re great! I’m 6 weeks in and have lost 11lbs so far. I thought it might have been a bit faster but if I’d not have started, I’d probably have been 5lbs heavier in that time, not 11lbs down, so it’s a win.

In short, it just makes eating really easy. I need to eat between 1100-1200 cals to lose weight and that would normally leave me utterly miserable and planning my ‘blow out’ weekend. With MJ, I just don’t think about it. I track my calories using WW app and I only really get properly hungry if I’ve totally missed lunch and it’s been about 6 hours since I ate. In between times I don’t think about food at all - food has sort of become ‘fuel’ and not my source of comfort. It’s a beautiful thing.

Do it! ☺️

I have lost 5 and a half stone, all fat, not hair!

PourUsAGlass · 24/06/2025 15:16

Thankyou everyone 😊 really appreciate these comments and support. I don't know anyone IRL who's on it, so have nobody to ask x

I just ordered mine today for the first time too - I was shocked to see I’m 14 stone and it’s spurred me into action !

Sorry to jump in but this is me as well. 14 stone and determined to lose at least 4. I took my first 2.5g dose a couple of hours ago.

This is me! The hunger i feel on 1100 /1200 cals a day is off the scale, im literally miserable and thinking about food most of the time. The main reason I've decided to try it, to try and stop the food noise

Yep, I totally get it. Even if you prioritise protein, 1100-1200 calories a day is not a lot. I tried pushing it to around 1400 just to have a bit of flavour in my diet but I stalled completely.

If you follow the ‘what I ate today on mounjaro’ threads, those are really good for ideas too. But just to give you an example of what my day looked like today (on 5mg)…this is it:

Woke up at 6am and, for breakfast had 2 x porridge sachets with skimmed milk along with a milky coffee.

Busy day at work, walked past biscuits and didn’t even feel remotely tempted. Around 1:30lm (bearing in mind I last ate at 6am so I’m normally be famished by this point), I felt a bit hungry so I had half a Wholemeal tuna sandwich and a protein yoghurt. Later I sipped my way through 2lts of water (with protein powder) and tonight had dinner at 6:30pm which was a mini quiche and a load of spinach/tomatoes/cucumbers etc (with some prawns thrown in for extra protein) and some dressing.

I won’t be hungry before bed now but if I am, I’ll have a few cashews. I’ve ended the day on 1088 calories. Without MJ, I would have been starving and also, thinking how miserable I was while daydreaming about pizza and pasta. I’m just not thinking about it - it’s amazing!

The challenge of course is what I’d do once I come off MJ but I’ve resigned myself to always needing to watch what I eat. I’m trying to create new habits around protein and lots of fluids.

Hi everyone, so my first pen has arrived and im going to jab tomorrow night, at least then if I have any side effects, I'll have the weekend off work.

Can anyone recommend any particular vitamins/supplements that I should be taking alongside it? (If this is necessary) also, someone mentioned biotin and collagen to prevent the hair thinning? X

creekyjohn · 26/06/2025 18:26

I haven’t taken any supplements or vitamins but I did change my diet dramatically so I am getting much more from food than pre MJ

Sugarnspicenallthingsnaice · 26/06/2025 18:35

See how you go with it. If you are still able to get good nutritious food in, you won't need supplements.

Did any of you have a weakness/fatigue in your muscles when you first started it?

Try creatine. I work out and run creatine definitely helps with muscle fatigue

AmythestBangle · 26/06/2025 18:59

I take glycine, calcium and collagen.

Have some yoghurt drinks on hand like actimel, it helps with the diarrohea. I've been on it since March, and have lost a stone so far, it soon speeded up after the first loading dose. For me the 5mg seems to be most effective so far. But I'm much heavier than you, so I have a lot more to lose. You'll soon find that you'll be eating less than you did.

AmythestBangle · 26/06/2025 18:59

I take glycine, calcium and collagen.

Calcium supplementation is no longer recommended unless prescribed by a Dr for a deficiency.

That may well be the case for you, but I'm just putting the info out there for the benefit of others who may be reading.

AmythestBangle · 27/06/2025 09:04

I was already on calcium before MJ, I have/ had (it's improved on my Dexa scans) osteopenia and am on Prolia, so have taken Ca for several years now. Glycine and collagen I started when I started MJ. Also have protein shakes and powders, for those days when I don't fancy much food, to make sure I keep my protein up. (Unlike some people on here, I absolutely love the protein milkshake drinks!).

Right, that makes sense and provides the sort of context the OP needs when seeking advice about supplements. Otherwise, based on your first reply, she might have assumed it was normal for anyone to take a calcium supplement with WLI.

Hi everyone! So i had my first jab Thursday evening. Woke up Friday with headache and felt tired and queasy most of the day. But the suppression had started already, no desire to snack in between meals, no food noise. Saturday, pretty much the same as Friday, but even more tired. Sunday I felt much better, the headachey sicky feeling had passed and i wasnt as tired. Yesterday and today ive been full of energy, still no desire to snack in between meals, or eat rubbish. And im 4.5lb down! After so long struggling with my weight, this is amazing x
