Hi all, after struggling with my weight I've finally decided to take the plunge and try Mounjaro.
My BMI is currently 30.9, so im classed as obese at 13 stone 5.
I've tried diet after diet and the hunger just gets too much for me. I feel like im constantly thinking about food and its making me miserable.
I know there's lots of threads on here, and I will have a read through them, but I suppose im just wanting some reassurance. I suffer with anxiety, and I am worried about starting. Are these injections safe? I've been looking at Med Express. Thankyou x

Yes, honestly life changing! 7 weeks and 1st 7lb down xx

DarkForces · 22/06/2025 18:07

It's a less risky to your health than being obese. Severe. Side effects are rare. I've had some mild ones but nothing that would put me off taking it. It's been amazing

Willowy2 · 22/06/2025 18:10

I was your BMI a year ago, I now have a BMI of 19 and I'm maintaining. Life changing. I feel like a new woman. Go for it.

BerfyTigot · 22/06/2025 18:17

If you're worried about safety, they have been used for diabetes for 20 years.

Before being used for obesity. On these Jabs my binges are much more moderate.

PourUsAGlass · 22/06/2025 18:17

Thankyou ladies, this is what I needed to hear! I honestly can't stand the thought of another day trying to stick to 1200 cals and feeling so hungry all the time x

I started 5 months ago with a BMI of 34 and it's now 29. It's been like a miracle for me and I've not really had any side effects other than a bit of an upset stomach a couple of times when I've gone up a dose, but this only lasted about a day. Good luck!

PourUsAGlass · 24/06/2025 10:14

First pen is arriving tomorrow. I'm so nervous about side effects. Can anyone advise the best time to inject, morning or evening? Also, side effects to look out for? I've also heard it can cause hair thinning/loss which scares me as my hair's quite thin anyway xx

@PourUsAGlass it doesn't matter what time of day you take it. The medication is at its peak in your system somewhere between 8 to 72 hours after the injection. People will have their own preferences based on their individual situations. You can always change the time next week if you want to.

Side effects are mostly gastric. It slows your digestion, so some people can get constipation or what are called "sulphur" burps due to food being digested for longer than normal. Nausea can be common initially but usually wears off.

Hair loss can happen, it's usually temporary and self-resolving. I had some after about 3 months, lasted about 3 months, and now is totally resolved. Although it seemed like loads came out, my hair was thinner but not so as people would have noticed.

WTDress · 24/06/2025 12:14

Re hair thinning, I did lose a lot but have recently been using Champo serum which seems to be helping and I now have a lot of regrowth. Might be worth starting using it or something similar as a preventative measure.

Thanks for this. Really appreciate the advice.

I dont know why I'm feeling so anxious about it. I think if I'd seen my own GP and been prescribed it by them, I'd feel a little less nervous.

I bought from Med Express, so I'm sure the prescribing process is thorough, just having a little wobble x

I prefer Thursday evening as my ideal injection time. I'm on the top dose and find it lasts well throughout the cheeky weekend cravings and by Weds I'm often hungry again. When I jabin the morning I'd get slight nausea throughout the day but evening jab seems to ease that. I eat half portions of everything now which is unheard of for me, DH has to finish my meals.

Recommend monj website linked above for price comparison and switch often for best pricing. Good luck OP, hope it works for you.

I lost a lot of weight very quickly, which I think is why my hair loss quite severe. It’s the weight loss, not the medication which causes it. So if you go slow and steady you may be fine.

All said and done, I wouldn’t change the weight loss for all the hair loss in the world as it has benefitted my life so completely

Parsleysalad · 24/06/2025 12:52

I lost a lot of hair but it's still the best thing I ever did
