Hoping the lovely bunch of May starters thread 3 finds this new thread. Can't believe we are on 4 in the space of couple of weeks.

Thread 3 is now full so can't post the link for the new one there.

@tostaky its really interesting isn’t it, The individual reactions.

I did my first 5mg jab last week & was nauseous & could hardly manage 2 meals a day!! second one yesterday & I’ve been hungry ever since!! Still managing good choices in the whole but using will power. It’s so odd!!

Mounjour · 26/06/2025 20:46

Normally stomach injections go into sub-cutaneous fat and thigh injections into muscles. Injections into fat are absorbed more slowly which may reduce side effects, but it’s quite an individual thing.

Do you think our needles are long enough to reach thigh muscle? I'd presumed that the injection sites were chosen for being sub-cutaneous fat. I don't know though, I've only jabbed in my tummy because my brain likes to think that my thighs are solid muscle.

That’s a good point actually! It would depend on site and amount of fat but yes, you are probably right that most of it is going into fat regardless.

I think it’s absolutely fascinating how we all differ so much.

Yeah it would be subcut wherever I’m sure. I had read that side effects were less in the thigh as in the stomach it’s closer to your.. stomach 🤣 so side effects more apparent/quick. I dunno it’s hard to say - my husband takes a medication and he was advised to inject in his thigh and has never done it anywhere else although stomach was an option (it’s a longer needle to be fair)

I just bought some new Renpho scales - how do they actually measure things like water weight or protein or whatever from just standing on it?! I like the app it records your weighs and all the data

I have those scales and I have no idea how they work or even if they're accurate!

I’m wondering if 1200 calories is perhaps not enough if you’re doing a lot more exercise than you were previously. Your body might “be in shock” at the changes and hanging onto reserves. I’d consider a couple of hundred more calories- but in the form of fruit or protein that’s going to help. And hang on in there, it will catch up sooner or later. But it’s dangerous because it’s times like these we fall off the wagon. Sometimes we’re too hard on ourselves at the start, with massive new exercise regimes and low calorie diets?

Thank you, this is good advice. I am going to carry on and absolutely not give up. This thread has been a revelation to me and I hadn’t realised how supportive it was until I actually wrote a post myself. I always hold back from asking for advice, but today I feel that I am definitely going to be a “loser” not a “gainer” and this is due to you all x

Oh gosh, don’t hang back, join in the chat. 🙂

I think that if we can learn to deal with the times that we’re struggling and/or not losing without sending ourselves into a negative spiral then it’s the biggest victory of all, greater than the actual weight loss itself, because it’s changing our habits- and therefore hopefully our lives.

SutekhsEars · 27/06/2025 08:21

I slept a bit better last night, so I'm not completely exhausted today, thank goodness!
Also, in an attempt to feel less tired I ate more protein yesterday and the scales had moved downwards this morning. Possibly a coincidence, but I think I'll have fish/chicken for lunch every day for a while.
Happy Friday, losers!

Apprenante · 27/06/2025 08:58

Yesterday I saw a 12 for the first time in years on the scales (12st 13.75!) but today it's back to 13. Oh well. Still a downward trend.
SW 14st 8
CW 13st
GW 10st 7 - which will still be overweight according to BMI but I'm an old lady so I think I'll look better with a smidgen of blubber. I'm only 5' 2" so should really be about 8 7

I'm going to wear a dress today - quite an event as I'm generally a trousers person - just for no reason other than I can. It's a size 12. I will be wearing it inside out so that everyone can admire the label

tostaky · 27/06/2025 09:21

@Apprenantei’m also seeing glimpses of 8…. As in below 90kg… really hoping i’ll be there next week!!

just went for an open water swim with a friend, it was lovely and fresh and a little workout for my arms. Had a protein shake after that and im about to start my working day… life is good! 😌 Happy Friday everyone!

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 27/06/2025 09:24

Morning losers! I'm loving the positivity lately. Or as my kids would say, 'the vibes are vibing'!

Here's some advice for today that nobody asked for:

If you have hayfever, for the love of god stop rubbing your eyes. Stop it this instant!
Appreciate your knees!
Eat something nice today.
Don't let the bananas go off.
Give yourself kitty praise, e.g. 'Aren't you gorgeous! Loving the whiskers today!'
Preen.
Give yourself a whackload of praise for being an absolute loser!

TreesOfGreen99 · 27/06/2025 09:25

Weekly check in, 5 weeks in and exactly 5kg lost. Really happy with this as after the first week it’s been a pretty steady .75kg each week.
Honestly as a long time member of Slimming World, Weight Watchers, Rosemary Conley etc. etc. etc. I am in awe of how well these jabs work.
Also, I love this thread, everybody is so supportive, sharing experiences and helping hands. We are so lucky.
Hoping everyone gets the chance to enjoy some sunshine at the weekend and keep on losing!

Kbr22 · 27/06/2025 09:52

@Mounjour @DidILeaveTheGasOn @Gingercar Well jab day and weigh in and I have lost!!!! 77.7 last week and today 76.8. It really is worth reaching out on here, I felt more positive yesterday, and had a rest from the gym, but still ate well and healthily. Even turned down cake at Grandparents day at my grandsons school but did have a small glass of Prosecco. So have a lovely day everyone and thanks again xx

Mounjour · 27/06/2025 09:55

Positive vibes here too this morning. Official weekly weigh-in is another pound off. 11st 13lb. I’m going to work hard at never seeing “12st” again.

Since adding a cardio session and a flexibility session to my week the weight lifting has been squeezed out. So I’m going to add some daily 10-minute weights to firm up my core and glutes.

(big hugs to anyone reading and struggling this morning) .

Merluzzo · 27/06/2025 10:03

What a lovely supportive thread this is. Well done to everyone, there seems to be lots of positive news today.

I had my weekly weigh in with SheMed this morning, after 6 weeks I’ve lost 20lbs. I’m delighted and so happy to be on MJ, I couldn’t do it otherwise.

I’m going to stay on 5mg for the next dose, I had 10 days of miserable SEs when I moved up from 2.5mg. Is anyone thinking of going to 7.5mg?

Onwards and downwards you lovely losers.

Mounjour · 27/06/2025 10:07

6 weeks I’ve lost 20lbs

Wow! That’s amazing!

Foreveronaplane · 27/06/2025 10:20

morning all, wk6d1 weigh in and passed the magic 1st loss. 16llbs down 😀 I was stuck for 10 days or so but all your positive messages helped me to keep my focus. Thank you!
ps ‘drink to shrink’ is my new motto. I upped my water content & it really helped. 💦💦

Foreveronaplane · 27/06/2025 10:21

@Merluzzo. That’s amazing well done 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Gingercar · 27/06/2025 10:40

If it’s of interest to anyone with sulphur burps . My son started experiencing them occasionally and was able to close it down to Coke Zero . Other colas no effect . Coke Zero = sulphur burps . I hope this can help even one person . Good luck everyone.
