Where to get it from
how much it cost etc
side effects
how much weight you lost in what time frame
your typical day of eating while on it
how quickly it worked
how much exercise you do
my bmi is 37 so I’ll obviously have no issue getting it as I’m obese!

Monj.co.uk has a list of all the providers of MJ and the costs per pen. They all supply the same stuff so choose the one that works best for you.

Thanks. Do you use it? If so would you recommend?

I have been on mountain for 10 weeks. My starting bmi was almost identical to you. I’m now over two stone down. It’s an absolute game changer. I am post menopausal and weight was not shifting despite eating sensibly and moving more. Yes it’s expensive but definitely worth it. My food bills have been slashed!

halofi21 · 18/05/2025 23:18

Mounjaro….not mountain!

Mummblebee · 18/05/2025 23:19

I've lost 10kg in 2 months on monjauro

Rtato · 18/05/2025 23:22

I have been in it for just over a year. I’ve lost 10kg (initial BMI was 32, now 28). It costs me just under £200 a month as I’m on the highest dose. The only side effect I have is it makes me a bit tired and lethargic so I don’t exercise that much.

CordeliaChaste · 18/05/2025 23:22

Do it you won’t regret it. Get it from the cheapest place this month (and swap every month). Why does it matter what people eat on it?

I do. Currently on 7.5mg. I've used both Oushk and Swift doctor. Both were perfectly fine. You'll find people on here using a variety of providers, again they all sell the same thing but pharmacies have different selling points. Oushk, for example, let's you choose your delivery day bit they are more expensive than some of the others. You can also move around each month to get a cheaper price.

Some of the providers listed are subscription services, meaning they send you a pen every 4 weeks unless you cancel. They are often more expensive, but do offer more support (apparently, I've never used one though).

You might find it helpful to join the May starter thread and talk to some people who are starting now as well.

As I’ve heard from a few people you need to have quite a strict diet still which is something I’m crap at. My food noise is too much so I’m wondering if I can still have a 100 calorie chocolate bar a day😅

Snozzlemaid · 18/05/2025 23:35

Mounjaro will stop you wanting or needing that chocolate bar. That’s what it does.

CordeliaChaste · 18/05/2025 23:36

All these things you’re worrying about? Don’t. You won’t want much chocolate. I have not been on a strict diet at all and have lost 3.5 stone

Not for me! I never had a sweet tooth before, but chocolate and bland carbs are all I crave! I’m losing weight slowly, but I can’t say my diet is particularly healthy. I’ve eaten more chocolate in the last year than I probably have in my life and I used to like dark, but all I can stomach is cheapish milk chocolate.

I've been on MJ for 8 weeks now. Down 1st 9lbs and I still enjoy a sweet treat now and then. For the couple of days after injection, I don't want it, but when I do i only want a small amount (previously I would binge on chocolate). Tonight I had 25g chocolate and wanted no more.

Redlightbulb · 18/05/2025 23:55

I generally eat a freddo sized choc bar each day! but it stops there. Not tempted to finish off the packet.

StealthIsTheWurst · 19/05/2025 06:58

i hope you don’t mind if I jump in with a question too OP as I have similar questions. Could the effect be described as “don’t fancy much to eat, but as I have to eat, and as I am trying to lose weight, I make good food choices”?

daffodilandtulip · 19/05/2025 07:14

I'm on week 50 and I've lost five stone, taking my BMI from 36.9 to 23.2. I use a calories counting app as my BMR is only 1100, I eat what I like but it's all about portion size for me - I've never really eaten loads of sugar or processed food, although I have stopped snacking and eat more protein.

I go to the gym for about 45mins twice a week and do a mix of cardio and weights. I have an active job and walk the dog a lot so do over 10,000 steps a day.

I've only had side effects on the very rare occasion that I've eaten chips or chocolate but this isn't a food I even want to eat often usually so that's fine.

I've just changed from MedExpress to Cloud, ready for maintenance.

Titasaducksarse · 19/05/2025 07:29

I've been on it 5 months and lost 2 stone. I've had a plateau for about 6 weeks now but that's OK. Slow and steady is fine for me as the other benefits are I'm eating a lot better and am working out etc.
Sometimes I'm a bit demoralised at all these people who lose a stone a month but this is the first time in my life I've lost weight and kept it off this long! Also I've not had people question if I'm on WLI as it's a steady loss.
I'm hitting the WLI research data too and have lost 20% of my weight in the time frame they said so I'm happy with that.

You need to learn to do all the things you'll have to do when you come off them eg eat well, exercise etc or what's the point.

I predict 2 to 5 years from now all we'll see are posts about WLI 'failing' as I think a lot of people won't keep the weight off.

Fatmumslim01 · 19/05/2025 07:43

I've been on it for 8 weeks and have lost a stone. BMI has gone from 40 to 37. No major side effects, some heartburn and nausea when I've gone up a dose but that's it.

Re food I eat the same meals as always just far far less. Literally half if not less of my previous portion size and I don't need to pick at the kids leftovers etc. with regards to treats such as chocolate and crisps I'll have a couple then seal up the bag for another time this is unheard of. I used to eat a pack of crisps while I was cooking dinner!

It's absolutely life changing for me.

I swap supplier each month and I've paid £180, £180, £123 and £105

I'm a new starter (30 April). Im also a chocoholic and could easily demolish a couple of family size chocolate bars or share bags every week, usually finishing a bag in one sitting until I felt sick. I haven't touched a chocolate bar or choccy biscuit since I started. I just don't fancy it.
That's the game changer for me, I'm counting my calories and making good choices and the MJ is making that possible for me.

I am 6 months in and eat chocolate most days!

TourangaLeila · 19/05/2025 08:23

Where to get it from
I'm a pharmacy bouncer, but started with med express as a friend provided a discount code for £40 off the first order.
how much it cost etc
This varies, see Monj.com for the lowdown on prices, all pharmacies offer something a bit different.
side effects
**Minor, when I titrate up (currently on 7.5mg) I get a bit headachy and feel a mildly nauseated for a few days. Nothing drastic. The worse is constipation! Which seems to have got worse as I've gone up. I take regular stool softener and drink lots to combat it.
how much weight you lost in what time frame
3 stone so far and it's been 6 months.
your typical day of eating while on it
I use nutracheck to arrange my calories over a week. At first I didn't need to calorie count as the suppression guaranteed a deficit. Had a couple of weeks stall though so then really had to start paying attention to calorie values.

Today is a 1200 calorie day. I have screenshotted what I've planned in below. I prioritise protein and fibre (because of the constipation) above all.
how quickly it worked
Personally I felt some suppression within a couple of days. This is not uncommon. However some don't feel anything until higher doses.
how much exercise you do
More than I used too! Mainly walking and YouTube videos as I cannot afford a gym and the mounjaro and personally I prefer outside or at home.
As I've lost weight it's gotten easier and I feel more naturally inclined to use my legs so it doesn't feel like effort IYSWIM. I do 30 minute videos probably less often, maybe 1/2 times a week. I do need to do more as I enjoy it when I start but, it's the starting 😂

I found my provider on monj.co.uk. Have swapped once, to chase a discount. May do so again.
I have lost 12lbs in the past 6 weeks. Steady. Am still on 2.5mg.
I eat mostly healthily, greek yoghurt, fruit, salad, lean chicken and fish. I used to do that before starting MJ in any case.
I snack far less. No more sticking the spoon in the jar of peanut butter or eating half a block of cheese before dinner. The urge to do that is still there, but not as strong and I am able to tell myself No.
I do still have approx 150cal of dark chocolate with my cup of tea every afternoon. I still want it. I calorie count and factor it into my allowance. But MJ makes it possible for me to only have that one bit.

I have had a bit of constipation but prune juice seems to be doing the trick.
I have had some nausea, but nothing that stops me functioning.

I am glad I made the decision to take MJ. I had managed to lose a stone between christmas and easter without MJ but it was a long, arduous and soul-destroying battle. Since easter it has been a bit easier and for the first time in my lifetime of dieting I may reach a healthy bmi. I have not had a healthy bmi for over 30 years....

Good luck, if you decide to go for it!

This is the diet mindset that you will need to unpick and which MJ can help you with. You haven't started yet and you're already trying to work out if you can 'cheat'.

You will have to remain in a calorie deficit to lose weight. MJ can't undermine the laws of physics in that respect. Some people experience very high suppression and actually struggle to eat enough, and therefore find a calorie deficit very easy. Others don't have much suppression at all at the lower doses and these are the people who still need to track their calories and exercise some willpower to ensure that they lose. You could theoretically lose weight eating absolutely anything as long as you stay in a deficit but you will store up longer term problems unless you ensure that you get enough protein and fibre every day, and this is the part of your diet that I would encourage you to be 'strict' about.

MJ will slow the transit of food in your digestive system so that you stay fuller for longer. It will also act on the pleasure pathways in your brain so that even if you have that chocolate bar within your calorie deficit you likely won't get the same dopamine hit from it that you currently do, and you may well find that you don't want it at all. Everyone responds differently.

meagain3 · 19/05/2025 08:39

I did a calorie deficit for a year and just did walking and I lost 6 stone. I’m 3 stone up since pregnancy😣🤢he’s 3 months old now and a combination of busy motherhood, no time for myself and starting contraception leads me to eat no nutritional food as I’m constantly just grabbing food on the go or living off chocolate. I know I need to prioritise and make a change and I can as I have done before but I’m finding it much more difficult this time! Ive started with drinking lots of water as I’m ashamed to Say some days I don’t even have 1 glass of water. A typical day of drinks for me is just 2 cans of Pepsi max and nothing else. I’m so dehydrated I get headaches constantly and it doesn’t help with feeling hungry. Last night I was ravenous despite having 3 weetabix and a huge roast dinner AND dessert in the day. I’d usually go downstairs and pick at chocolate. Instead I stayed in bed and downed some water and the hunger went away!

Thanks to all for responding! I gather from the replies you do have to be in gear with exercise and diet to maintain the weight loss so I think I need to work on this first before starting MJ

I've been on it nearly a year.
I buy it from Phlo, and pay anything up to £199 per month.

My bmi was just over 30 and not it's around 24. I've lost very slowly around 2.5 stone. Didn't have loads to lose but I'm quite short and have been trying unsuccessfully for years to lose.

Initially I felt nauseas for a few days after the injection and tiredness. At 5mg the sulphur burps were gross but I swapped injection site to my thighs and it was better. I only ever went up to 7.5mg. Over time side effects wore off. I couldn't eat big meals, lost the taste and capacity for alcohol. And can eat a couple of biscuits and stop there.

I did struggle to get fruit and veg in. After eating protein and carbs there wasn't enough room.

I've been tapering down the doses as I'm at a weight I feel good at. I had to stop for a couple of weeks for an operation and the food noise has crept in. I think it's likely I'll stay on a maintenance dose

No regrets from me
