I’m very new to this world of weight loss injections and have only just starting thinking of it as an option. Can anyone tell me which one is the most effective and has the least side effects please?

Thank you everyone that replied to me - just finished work and saw all the replies. Thank you too to Strikeforever for the offer of the voucher. I'm ok for now, still doing research really. I'm borderline obese (feels horrible to even say it) - BMI of 28 I think. I do eat crap - don't we all - so whether I should try and cut that out first I don't know. I am an emotional eater though and it is hard, as lots of us know. Good luck to everyone on it.

Some posters have said it changes your feeling towards food..does it act on receptors in your brain then to stop you overeating as well as suppressing your appetite? I wouldn’t say I overeat and I don’t really snack I just make unhealthy choices as am so limited on time. So I may eat nothing until about 3pm then have a big, unhealthy lunch then eat something equally big and unhealthy for dinner about 10pm - terrible habits I know. I also never have any time to exercise. My bmi isn’t quite 30 but pretty close but and I’m biggest I’ve ever been and now being in my late 30s find it impossible to shift (I have tried many times before) it’s so uncomfortable being overweight especially in hot weather. Does the weight still come off fast if you have less than, say 3 stone to lose? I’m 13 st and would like to be 10

Hi Roxie, I’m similar to you. Started mid April - and with the bonus dose I’ve now had 5 weeks at 2.5mg and gone from 12st10 to 11st11. Week 6 starts on Saturday when I move to 5mg. Target weight 10st 4 or so.

The wonder for me is in its ease. I started counting calories to stay under 1200 but really I was easily under that with limited effort. I simply wasn’t hungry enough to exceed it. I am also moving more and making more sensible food decisions but honestly it a revelation how unconcerned I am about snacking and bit portions.

good luck!

I understand. You won’t be approved if your BMI is below 30.

Yeah, I went from 12 stone to 9.5 stone really fast. The last .5 stone has been slow but I've got there and am now 9 stone!! and my final .5 stone may take 4 more months I predict!!

It's easy to loose the initial.weight, but as you get slimmer it does slow down a bit :)

This is very encouraging to read thank you! Can I ask what you eat on an average day?

I had a look at the Asda online pharmacy and they just ask for a photo of you on the scale with the date and a full and side photo. But that doesn’t take into account height - IF I reported my height as 2 inches shorter my BMI would be over 30. So it must be fairly easy to get if you’re bmi isn’t actually 30+ ?

Unfortunately for me here in Canada, Mounjaro costs double the price of Wegovy. A month’s supply of highest dose Wegovy costs around CDN $450 (£230), while Mounjaro is CDN$800-$900 a month. We have what is called extended healthcare, meaning private insurance to top up whatever our government healthcare won’t cover. Unfortunately for people suffering from obesity, only diabetics get medical insurance coverage for these GLP-1 drugs.
