You need a BMI of over 30 for those asking

I am so tempted but feel like it must be too good to be true and that scares me. The pancreas is not to be fucked with.

I also don’t like that people aren’t allowed to express concerns and reservations about it without being met with a wall of defensiveness

Same. I tried it twice but read some negative reports which worried me. I’m toying with the idea of trying it again.

Is it just because it’s an appetite suppressant or does it do other stuff as well (regulate hormones or whatever controls weight loss)?

GLP-1 and GIP:
Mounjaro, containing the active ingredient tirzepatide, works by activating the receptors of two natural incretin hormones, GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) and GIP (glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide).
Appetite Suppression:
These hormones influence appetite and satiety. By mimicking them, Mounjaro can help reduce appetite and slow down the emptying of the stomach after a meal, making individuals feel fuller for longer.
Blood Sugar Regulation:
Mounjaro also helps lower blood sugar levels by stimulating insulin release and reducing the amount of glucose produced by the liver.

I've just signed up and waiting to hopefully be approved. My BMI is only just over 30 so I'm hoping they accept

I've ummed and aahed but had a realisation the other day that if I'd just signed up when i first thought I'd probably be at my goal weight by now.

My worry is I usually feel pretty crap in a calorie deficit. A bit lightheaded, a bit headachey etc. And thats often why I eat not hunger or food noise.

Good luck. I was worried about feeling lightheaded too but had no issues at all like that.

How many weeks does each payment get you?

I’d go on it but not approved for type 1 diabetics. Shame.

Why is that? Is it because we don’t produce any insulin at all naturally?

How do you go about seeing if you're eligible? I don't have diabetes but I'm 6 stone overweight and I have rheumatoid arthritis,so struggle some days to even get out for a little walk. I know the extra weight won't be helping my joints. It's a vicious cycle 😞

To be eligible you need to have a BMI of over 30 or over 27 if you have weight related health issues like Diabetes. You also need to have no contraindications with other health problems. The best way is to find a provider and read their eligibility criteria, they will ask you to provide information as part of sign up and that information will be reviewed by a doctor to determine if they can prescribe you the medication,

How many weeks does each payment get you?

There are 4 doses in each pen. It is also possible to extract a 5th dose using additional syringes / needles. If you look on the WLI part of the weight loss board you'll find lots of info. Some people have found they cover at least 50% of the injections by not buying treats, takeaways, alcohol etc.

DBatteryBand · 13/05/2025 22:37

I think of it like how are you feel after a Christmas dinner.

This is exactly how I described it to DH earlier. Every meal leaves me feeling like I’ve just had an enormous blow out dinner, even if it’s fairly small. Only a few days in, but it’s astonishing. I didn’t think it would affect me at all, and certainly not at a low dose, but it really has. It’s mad.

Absolutely life changing. I lost all the weight (4 stone) and I’ve been maintaining since Feb 1st. I went cold turkey off it and I’ve actually lost a few pound since stopping.

I used MedExpress, got a code off here and never looked back. Wonderful magic stuff.

That’s brilliant Wite. Well done for maintaining since Feb 1! Can I ask, did your cravings come back and it’s been a battle of wills you are winning? Or has it felt fairly natural and easy?
