2 stone down & looks no different

Hi all,

I have lost 2 stone with the help of mounjaro. I’ve gone from 20 stone to 18. I’m 6ft so ‘carry the weight well’ and am often met with shock if I reveal how much I weigh.

since losing two stone though there is no difference in me, no one has noticed and my clothes all fit the same. Is this normal?

I lost 8kg last year and no-one noticed so I hear you. I could tell the difference and the waistbands on my clothes fit more comfortably. I feel a lot fitter and stronger than I used to too.

It’s worth adding I think people comment on weight loss less than they used to. I think this is partly because it could be an indicator a of poor health. People are less inclined to infer that weight loss is always a cause for celebration when they don’t know the cause. I would only mention it if it was someone I knew pretty well.

ThirdStorm · 19/04/2025 14:45

Normal for me. I’ve lost 5st and gone down just one dress size! Ha! But I feel brilliant for it, lots of energy and less joint pain. I’d suggest you measure waist, hips, upper arms, for me that where I lost weight and it helped me to see I was making progress.

FortyElephants · 19/04/2025 14:52

You're very tall and haven't lost a massive % of your body weight yet, so it probably won't show massively. You'll have lost weight fairly evenly so 2 stone spread out won't look significant, but don't get downhearted! Keep going and it will show.

SilenceInside · 19/04/2025 15:14

You’ve lost 10% of your starting weight which is brilliant. I’ve seen mentioned before that losing weight is like taking sheets off a roll of kitchen roll. The first two or three don’t make the roll look very different but the change gets more noticeable per sheet the more sheets you take off.

Also, people tend not to comment until the change is so obvious that it would weird not to acknowledge it. I’ve lost almost 8 stone and it took at least 4 stone before anyone mentioned it.

I hear you. I've lost 3.5st so far and the weight has all gone from the places I don't want to lose weight first. I had to buy a new outfit for a funeral this week and had no idea what size I would be. I used to wear 18 and took a 16 and 14 into the fitting room, because, 3.5st is quite a lot right? Well, I only just got in the 16 and it was petty tight. It's frustrating that the weight doesn't come off equally. I'm even more apple shaped than ever now!

The good thing is that my scales tell me I've lost internal fat between the organs which is good and I'm guessing the last couple of stone is going to be the middle area that I want to lose the most. A couple of people have now noticed but it took quite a lot before anyone said anything but maybe they can't really be sure until things look dramatically different.

SandSeaPasta · 19/04/2025 15:59

I’d say, fairly normal …

I’ve gone from 14 st to 12 st 10 lbs - in 5’ 6”. So I’ve lost 1 stone 4 lbs.

I’m still a size 16 and Large - though maybe no longer Extra Large 🤔.

My clothes are slightly less tight is all! My face looks a little less puffy and my body a little less, well, lumpy - but only marginally.

Nobody has noticed but I’m quite a big build so would t expect them to, and I would prefer most people not to comment really.

I think when I get to 12 stone it will be more obvious. But I still think most of my clothes will fit me in the same way size 16. Maybe another half stone and I’d be a size 14 / medium. Only a few clothes I bought last year will probably look too big - but then again I will be able to wear some clothes I haven’t been able to get into for some years! Swings and roundabouts…

BrendaSmall · 19/04/2025 16:10

I’m similar weight to you and 5ft 4 !
lost 27 lb and no change in my shape at all

That is a great way to look at it, thank you! And well done on your weight loss x

I'm 3 and a bit stone down and 5'5". I downloaded the Me360 app, which does a whole body scan and scan once a week. I'm on week 4 of the scans now and although I look in the mirror/wear a lot of the same clothes and don't think I look any different, the app begs to differ when I compare the 3D scan from just 4 weeks ago with today. I'm losing inches all over, and my stomach (my big problem area) is definitely smaller, even though I don't see the daily incremental changes myself. Psychologically, the data helps.

Changeyourlifes · 19/04/2025 17:15

With respect, you started at 20 stone. That is significant. It’s going to take some time before you start to see a difference because your starting weight was high.

MsCactus · 19/04/2025 17:33

I think the last stone makes the biggest difference to how you look. I'm not sure why but when you are more overweight, losing a few stone is not noticeable, but when you're a healthy BMI, losing a stone makes a huge difference to how your body looks.

So basically - keep going! The comments will come soon enough

Mysticmaiden · 19/04/2025 17:34

As you've said you carry your weight well so it will be more evenly distributed compared to me, who is 5ft 3 and mostly an apple shape putting most of it on my abdomen due to insulin resistance. I've lost 2st 2.7lbs and dropped from 13st 1lbs to 10st 12.3lbs and almost 17% of my body weight, I've dropped from a 14 to a 12 and it is visible but that's because I'm a lot shorter so it makes a bigger difference. Keep going and it will make a difference even in your clothes feeling looser, often we wear tighter clothes than we should due to not wanting to go up a size, I was like that as a 14.

CloverPyramid · 19/04/2025 17:40

I lost about 4 stone before the difference became visible. Prior to that, my clothes were all worn too tight and had stretched over time so I didn’t lose any dress sizes until then either.

I’m now 7 stone down and can still wear some of the dresses I wore before (although they’ve gone from very fitted and short to longer and looser).

JohnTheRevelator · 19/04/2025 17:42

I think it's because you have quite a lot of weight to lose. I started off at just under 21 stone, and it wasn't until I'd lost 3 stone 7 lbs that it actually started to show and a few people remarked on it! I had to lose another 3 and a half stone before it really started to show.

QueefQueen80s · 19/04/2025 17:45

I weighed the same as you and it took 4 stone before the comments came

Silsatrip · 19/04/2025 17:50

I just wouldn't comment on someone's weight - have you asked people? I don't notice weight loss in my leggings, for example, as they are stretchy. But I have a belt I was able to move down a notch so it showed I had lost some around my waist.

Congrats BTW, that's a lot to loose.

DareDevil223 · 19/04/2025 19:26

I started out at 20 stone (I'm 5ft 7) and it took far more than 2 stone before the weight loss was noticeable especially as I'm an hourglass who lost weight evenly all over (legs took the longest!).

I'm now 9 stone down and a size 10. The last couple of stone have made the biggest difference and every pound lost shows now. The paper towel analogy really is true.

Keep going, you will get there!

Motnight · 19/04/2025 19:53

I started out bigger than you Op, though a lot shorter. I think objectively that I lost 4 stone before I looked any different. After 2 stone I hadn't even gone down a dress size. I've gone down 4 dress sizes now that I have lost 5 stone. It's blooming hard. Keep going, you are doing really well.

DinoLil · 19/04/2025 20:26

I hear you too. I've gone from 17st to 14.7 since September when I got a dog. Don't ask me how because I can't walk very far. I think it's because dog is needy and I can't eat anything without being at the end of a hard stare. Or having my food snaffled.

My friend has lost 3st on the injections since June. I think she looks fabulous.

No one has noticed either of our weight loss in our friendship group of about 15.

But it doesn't matter. So long as we're happy in ourselves. Seeking approval is a never ending road.

It's the paper towel effect.

The "paper towel theory," also known as the "paper towel effect," is an analogy used to illustrate how weight loss can appear to happen more slowly initially, especially when losing weight from a higher starting point. It explains that when you have more fat, the visual change from losing weight is spread out over a larger area, like the outer layers of a paper towel roll. As you lose more weight and get leaner, each pound lost becomes more noticeable because it's spread over a smaller area, like the inner layers of a paper towel roll.

ItsStillWork · 19/04/2025 20:41

I hate it when people mention my weight loss, I feel really embarrassed.

i don’t know why, it just makes me feel uncomfortable.

Gettingbysomehow · 19/04/2025 20:43

I'm on MJ too, three stone is when you really notice a difference and everyone else does. Get that stone off. You will feel and look great.
