What do you use to track your food intake?

I am using the WW app to track my eating. I’m finding it really helpful, I can set it to macros, points and calories.

It is particularly helpful to remind me to eat enough each day.

I use nutracheck. I really like that you can check the "week view" report - I don't get too worried if I go over or under my calorie allowance, as I can see it evens out over the week.

Doggymummar · 26/03/2025 20:07

Nutracheck, it's designed for UK supermarkets unlike myfitnesspal which is American

How do you do that please?
I use Nutracheck and find it really good despite not knowing there was a week view function! Grin

Hi! In the app (I’m Apple, if that makes a difference) go into the diary. At the top right corner is a teal box with three horizontal white lines. Click this to open the extra menu. “Week view” is the option at the top. Lemme know if you need more help x

Somethingthecatdraggedin7 · 27/03/2025 07:09

I use Nutracheck and really like it.
Using this has got me into the habit of me weighing everything so I am more accurate about the calories I consume. Plus it helps me keep track that I am drinking enough.

Attictroll · 27/03/2025 07:13

My fitness pal… but the free version. Been using it for 6 years …. To maintain weight. Don’t count every day have “ relaxed days” that I just log weekly

tryingtobesogood · 27/03/2025 08:00

Hmmm, I do like the week view on nutracheck, WW doesn’t have this on their app. I am paying for WW but wonder if it’s time to move to something cheaper.

I’ve been using MFP for 17 years 🙊
But that sounds good about Nutracheck being UK focused. I might check that out as I get a bit annoyed with cups and ounces and things on MFP.

Chromaover · 27/03/2025 10:12

Also nutracheck. Worth the subscription.

Really easy to use, visual.

AmythestBangle · 27/03/2025 10:44

Nutracheck is brilliant, I use the bar code reader all the time (works for Ireland as well as UK). I also enjoy the progress recording part of it.

Marypoppinsisnosaint · 27/03/2025 12:23

Another Nutracheck fan. I like you can put in your own recipes and it works out all your portions. I like to batch cook and cook from scratch so it really is handy feature.

Mounraine · 27/03/2025 12:40

Can you access Nutracheck online too? I always find that easier for adding recipes

taylorswift1989 · 27/03/2025 13:24

Thanks for the nutracheck recommendations! I hate MFP so I'm happy to find something so much easier to use. I've got a week free trial but I think I'll upgrade for a year subscription. It's been easy so far and have linked to my fitbit so it automatically adds my steps and exercise.

Sick · 27/03/2025 13:27

I use nutracheck. It's so worth the subscription fee.

I spent 8 years using my fitness pal, on and off, and nutracheck is just a thousand times better. So many fantastic features.

I don't track on mj! That's one of the best things about mj for me! That I can finally stop obsessing over calories and tracking every morsel i put in my mouth!

However, when I used to track before mj, I used 'loose it'. A great app.

I get this! But for me I want this weight loss to last and having lost and regained 6 stones twice in ten years, I need this to be the last attempt. So I'm doing everything I can to make sure I can keep up a loss for the long term. Tracking is part of that for me. I hope that eventually I'll come off MJ and be able to maintain a healthy weight without too much tracking. But that will only happen if I really understand my body and what it needs.

tryingtobesogood · 27/03/2025 15:24

@taylorswift1989 this is my thinking, I need to take responsibility for what I eat and not just close my eyes and put my fingers in my ears. I have obviously eaten too much or I wouldn’t be fat. I need to see what eating the right amount looks like before I can trust myself.

I use the WW app too. I really like it and find it very user friendly. It works well for me as I’m 11 stone down and only 1 stone left to go.

Did you say 11 stone down … wow that is incredible

How much is the subscription for Nutracheck? If I download it, I feel I want to know now. I’ve been using MFP but do sometimes find it clunky and with loads of duplication of items often with incorrect data.

Mounraine · 28/03/2025 16:58

I’ve gone with NutraCheck. Much better than I remember of MFP or Fitbit back in the day.

There’s probably codes but I just paid £28 for the year. I was that impressed.

FattyBumBumNoMore · 28/03/2025 17:01

Thank you, not cheap then on top of everything. I will try the free trial but the images in the App Store do look more user friendly than MFP
