I had my first dose yesterday, and interested to see what others are eating in a day. I have eaten MUCH less than usual, and barely touched tea and coffee (which I'd normally have multiple cups of)

Today I've had
Actmiel first thing , peppermint tea
Strawberry protein yogurt
Cold chargrilled chicken, carrot, cucumber , houmous.
1 go ahead slice
Chicken breast, stiffed with a tiny bit of cheese, wrapped in one rasher of bacon. brown rice, veg .

I weighed and tracked everything, and still coming in under 1000 cals. My tdee minus 500 is 1950!

First week of 5mg
B - Greek Yoghurt with strawberries and blueberries.
L - cold chicken, apple, banana, protein peanut bar.
D - pulled pork, half a ciabatta roll (gave up after half) broccoli, corn, rocket salad.

I hate these threads as they show every time how a significant number of people are using doses which suppress the appetite too much and are undereating. This should not be a diet people!
Guidance is to calculate your TDEE and aim to eat around 500 cals under it. Eating significantly less is not healthy and likely to lead to muscle loss, slowed metabolism and, ultimately, regaining weight

BeaTwix · 17/03/2025 22:52

Snack - strawberry protein yogurt in a sucky container (I'm experimenting with which ones taste better. Delivery of this meant I had some about 11am, and then finished it around 4pm)

Lunch - Roasted chickpea, giant cous cous and halloumi with salad

Dinner - fishcake with veg (corn on cob/ sugar snaps)
Bit of chocolate traybake (I was tired and still had some work to do so this appealed more than the berries and greek yog I had planned)

It totalled up to about 1700 calories including the traybake.
Didn't quite hit my 100g protein target but I was close.

I'm massively fat so 1700 is my weight loss calorie target.

I’m shocked at how little some are eating.

That’s placebo effect, mounjaro needs to build in your system before it starts working

Gilliannex · 17/03/2025 23:03

First Chinese tonight since before started m jabs 8 weeks ago as it was a celebration meal and 2 hours later I have had the worst diarrhoea ever.

wont do that again.

Properjob · 17/03/2025 23:05

'I’m shocked at how little some are eating.'
I'd need to insert 'veg and fruit' here. So many responses with none or very little. Aren't you all constipated? Aren't you fed up with beige food?
No offence intended I wish you well on your admirable efforts to get healthy Flowers But I'll probably get flamed anyway😜

DarkForces · 17/03/2025 23:11

B small fruit and nut muesli with dates,
L scrambled egg with veg (4 types of veg) and feta
D mindful chef salmon Thai curry (with 6 different plants/veg)
2 posh chocolate truffles

Been on Mounjaro since October and I’ve gone from 106kgs to 75 kgs
i tend to have a nibble of something but it’s stopped me from eating the whole plate and more! Upped my dose to 10mg late last week and today had to remind myself to eat something. Thankfully I find it does make me thirsty so drink lots of water and herbal teas etc.

Your body’s like “what the hell is this greasy, salty food, woman?! Have some diarrhoea as a lesson and make better choices next time!” 😄

WeAllHaveWings · 17/03/2025 23:58

Breakfast - protein yogurt, fruit

Lunch - defrosted homemade ham hock and lentil soup and small slice of bread

Dinner - cod mornay, 5 potato wedges, loads of mixed veg

Snack - 30g mixed nuts

Drinks - 1.5L water + 700ml clear protein powder and collagen powder drink

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 18/03/2025 06:56

@pompey38 I am very conscious that I'm being careful with what I eat in case of sickness etc. I have read though that MJ can take effect within 8 -12 hours.

What has most surprised me is the tea and coffee, I normally have about 8 cups. I had one of each snd didn't finish them!

This. Some of these entries read like a page from an eating disorder forum. People are taking enough to basically kill their appetite and then eating under 1000 calories of mainly shitty processed food. Anyone who eats three meals a day seems to be in the minority on these threads. That’s not sustainable in the long term and your body will become super efficient at conserving energy so if you ever want to eat close to a normal amount then you will have issues with weight gain. If you look at the science explanation of what happened with the Biggest Loser contestants, they all basically fucked their metabolism by doing this sort of thing (minus the MJ obviously) and regained everything. If you are obese, your body burns a shit tonne of calories just by existing so it seems strange not to take advantage of that and eat a decent amount.

I'm literally on day 2, so not experienced to comment. I have noticed some people eat very little , and for me , I want to build healthy habits so that, hopefully, I can continue with them and not be on mj forever. I also need to be able to exercise abd I know from experience, that I won't be able to on very little food.

I agree with this.

I’m just over 6 months in now and there is a worrying subgroup of people who use mounjaro as a way to eat so little they are clearly nutritionally unhealthy. If you really can’t eat a decent amount you are on too high a dose for your body and you are not going to be developing good habits for the future. That isn’t something to be pleased about or to aim for.

PurpleCoo · 18/03/2025 08:21

I agree with the comments about how little some people are eating and that there is a high amount of processed foods.

I am the opposite, and make pretty much everything from scratch except for breakfast cereal and bread. Soups are fantastic, you can fit so much veg into them. Same as curries/pasta sauces etc.

We need to be able to listen to our bodies. I have been quite hungry these past few days and it would have been so easy to decide to increase my dose next time. However, given I was due TOTM, plus I did lots of extra exercise over the weekend, plus had DOMS, I knew this was my body needing the extra calories. I wasn't craving unhealthy food and was content with some healthy nuts or a bagel as a snack. We have to think long term and what is going to be sustainable when we can't rely on MJ anymore. I plan on being on as low a dose as possible and losing the required 25-30kg over about 6-8 months so that it's a nice steady loss and it should be enough time to really embed good habits and reprogramme my relationship with food and the cravings/preferences I have.

Xiaoxiong · 18/03/2025 08:52

I learned the hard way last autumn to prioritise fibre. The main food changes I've made are no snacks between meals, no fried food as it gives me indigestion.

Yesterday I had:

Brown seeded toast with a fried egg and a pile of kimchi, small glass of kefir with psyllium husk mixed in, white coffee

Pret Italian chicken salad with olives, peppers, Parmesan, pistachio nuts,

Another white coffee

Roasted cauliflower pasta with lemon and capers, chopped salad with tomato/cuke/rocket/avocado/radishes

Cup of mint tea for digestion

Drank 2L of water over the day.

Xiaoxiong · 18/03/2025 08:57

(And I'm down 16kg in 8 months)

Xiaoxiong · 18/03/2025 09:06

But also listening to your body and stopping when you feel full. My portion sizes are now the "recommended" ones which I used to think were completely titchy (a matchbox size piece of cheese!? A piece of meat the size of your palm??) but now am realising really are just fine.

Jjff89 · 18/03/2025 11:22

@Finallydoingit24 I'm happy with the amount I am eating. I over ate before so not exactly going to waste away. I have lost 30lbs since 20th Jan which I am very pleased about. I average 1000-1400 calories a day depnding what I am up to.

Sw 17 stone
Cw 14 stone 12

DarkForces · 18/03/2025 11:43

I've been on mj for 4 months now. I think I've always been a pretty healthy eater and good cook, my problem was snacks, booze and meals out. Mj is pretty punishing on all 3 and my cravings for sugar vanished on day 1! Across a typical week I try to eat a wide variety of veg and some fruit (lots of dates as they help digestion), healthy fats and proteins (cheese, white meat, fish and eggs and a few carbs (whole grain rice and skin on potatoes). I'm taking advantage of not being so hungry to spend more time cooking. As I'm working to lose weight I prioritise nutrition and very occasional treats if I'm particularly hungry. Meals out are definitely rarer and less of these is finding the jabs!
