I’m 70 and see this as a last ditch effort to lose weight/ improve my health/ maybe increase my life expectancy.

Yesterday I took my 2nd 5mg dose, loses so far :
-2lbs
-6lbs
-1lb
-1lb
-1lb

Food suppression has been at a level that supports my willpower ie I have never felt that I can’t eat and food noise is somewhat reduced.
No nasty side effects so far.

I have arthritis so exercise is chair Pilates and walking. I average 6,000 - 7,000 steps daily. I would like to do more as Arthritic pain is reducing and my mobility is improving.

Big plus for me is no alcohol since I started.

Any other older users happy to share experiences and offer each other support ?
I’ve learned so much from posters on these boards and thank everyone who posts offering advice.

Hi I did say that I would update so here goes. My first few weeks have been great to say the least. I have been lucky and had no adverse reactions. Gone are the cravings and snacking and stopped drinking and wanting alcohol! This last week I haven't felt very well (nothing to do with mounjaro just a bad cold). The icing on the cake- I have lost......10lbs so far. I really don't know what to do whether to stay on 2.5 or go to 5mg which I have received, to start using on Sunday. Would be grateful for any thoughts on that. Thanks

Well done @NattyMintMaker !

Me personally I would stick with 2.5mg if it is keeping snacking at bay and enough to keep you in a healthy calorie deficit. Especially with the recent price hikes (unless you are a loaded pensioner! 😉) staying lower for longer will help affording for longer.

You can take 2.5mg from your 5mg pen, and if you find 2.5mg is wearing off for you then increase to 5mg (or somewhere in-between perhaps 3.75mg to reduce risk of new side effects) mid month.

Taking a reduced dose from a pen involves the click counting you might have read about already, your provider will not support this but many do and it is low risk if you are mindful each week of click counting. If this is something you want to do, someone here can help explain how to do it if you don't know already.

@NattyMintMaker
Well done!
I'd suggest going up to 5mg (most people tolerate the jump well) especially if you've had no adverse SEs and weight loss has slowed. All the evidence suggests most weight is lost by people on the higher doses, but...there's no hard and fast rules. For me, I decided I wanted to get to goal a bit quicker so I could reduce dose on maintenance sooner, financially this made sense and worked out well.
I've been on since May 24, on maintenance since Nov 24. I lost 5st, getting to 10mg and another stone as i reduced dose and I'm now maintaining very comfortably at 2mg, bmi around 21. I'm 58 btw . I honestly think us older women do really well on MJ; we're happy to take things nice and slowly, and we get lots of additional benefits from all the menopause- and age-related weird hormonal impacts being corrected.

Hi all. Ive been seriously thinking about having the mounjaro injections and phoned my doctors surgery so that I could have some advise as I am 70 and a little nervous as Im on some meds. Unfortunately my doctors dont do them and apparently wont discuss them. The receptionist suggested I ring a pharmacy who will assist. Im curious to know where you all get yours from please.

I went to my local pharmacy, I get all my meds from him so he knows what I am on. I go every 4 weeks, he takes my blood pressure, weight, and I discuss how I am coping. We then decide on the next dosage. It works well for me, as I can get advice if I need it.
