Found the new thread! Thanks @Blondeshavemorefun for setting it up. What would we do without you?

@Motnight I'm so sorry about your job and DD; hope she's OK.

WWJ on Saturday. Good news on 2 fronts. I was down 3.25lbs, which seems incredible. I can only put it down to having returned to the gym and I was unwell and didn't eat for one day following the 12.5 jab the previous week. I am at 11'7", which was my latest target. I'm setting them half a stone apart to keep it manageable, but I need to get another stone off to be normal that is the ultimate goal. I've lost an air conditioner, so now I'm setting my sights on a penis.....

I took everyone's advice and used a syringe to inject 0.3mls of the 12.5 bonus dose, so if my maths is right that was 6.25. And I have had no side effects at all. Hooray!! I'll see how suppression goes this week, and if OK I think I'll stick at this. If not then I do have a new 10mg pen to try.

@NippyNinjaCrab and all the crotcheters- thanks to YouTube I have conquered knitting rows rather than going round and round in granny squares. I finished my latest project in time for imminent arrival of DGC3. Colour is a bit nicer in person!

qotsa · 17/03/2025 11:04

Hi all. Ive just done my weekly jab and have gone up to just over 7 (did it from a syringe and a fair squirt came out priming it) from 5.3 ish. I decided to go up as I was clearly getting more hungry. Never really had huge suppression but never been particularly hungry up until now. A nice balance as been able to eat normally and enjoy my food just in much smaller quantities. I am now disproportionately worried about the increase in dose. It’s the most I’ve gone up in one week 😬 I know what’s advised is more and I’m on week 18 but I just don’t want the dizzy wooshy head feeling as it freaks me out. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’m such a baby. 😆

qotsa · 17/03/2025 11:09

On the plus side, the group chat my code is in (I am assuming) continues …. I am now up to a referral credit of £400 in a week 😮 used £120 last week and got £280 sat there. Sure there’s a glitch and medexpress will be asking for it back any minute.

poppym12 · 17/03/2025 11:37

I've stayed the same this week. Not too annoyed because I feel like I've made decent progress with my 10mg pens. I'll do the final one next weekend and then move up to 12.5mg.

I still haven't worked out a goal weight that would be suitable for me. BMI charts say between 56 and 74kg. The first weight I recall being as an adult was 59kg (around 20 yrs old and looked quite skinny) so I'm certainly going to be aiming for the higher limit of healthy.

Weepixie · 17/03/2025 13:08

@Blondeshavemorefun don’t think mj works on me the way it does on others - I’m hardcore

I don’t have suppression either though I had it for a day or so after I went up to 10 last week. What happens is that I get through about 3/4 of my calorie controlled meal because I couldn’t eat another mouthful but less than 2 hours later I’m hungry again. I’m now up to 4 smaller meals per day rather than the 3 meals I’ve had everyday since we started Mounjaro. I also have a snack. Today it was a mandarin and Greek yoghurt.

How does Mounjaro work for me? Well lo and behold it’s taught me willpower. I can say no to anything food wise and it’s an absolute miracle because I’m actually hungry during the day but instead of giving in to it I practice being hungry from when I’m no longer on Mounjaro. I’ve found reading about how those who are slim manage to stay slim and what I’ve gathered from the amount of times it’s repeated is that they have to work at it and make the right choices. Hunger, or what I thought was real hunger, used to terrify me but not any longer.

Weepixie · 17/03/2025 13:27

That last paragraph of mine made me come across as a wee bampot but it wasn’t my intention.

Truth is I have no idea how Mounjaro works on me and I recognise next to nothing about other peoples description of how it works for them, or the description of how it works from the manufacturer.

Ive changed so much about my relationship with food and honestly I'm not worried about maintenance because I’ve been hungry for months 🤣

poppym12 · 17/03/2025 13:41

Exactly that @Weepixie. I was thinking over the weekend that I'm no longer bothered about feeling hungry. It's ok to feel hungry. Not ready for a meal or hungry because I haven't eaten at all type of hunger, just 'feeling a bit peckish'. I no longer feel the need to grab something just because and when I feel hungry even after having a meal, I suck on a boiled sweet or drink some sparkling water and it passes.

I have eaten a bag of jelly snakes over the weekend tho which served no nutritional value at all but they were bloody lush.

NippyNinjaCrab · 17/03/2025 14:55

@Weepixie I love your posts you always make me laugh, wee bampot I've not heard that in such a long time. No one uses it here really it was more a Glasgow/Lanarkshire saying when I grew up

@qotsa you're far from a baby with that dose! I'd be blubbing with the side effects haha.

As long as i keep away from a high carb diet I can manage okay on a low dose of MJ, high protein and full fat yoghurt and milk, and I have dates and dark chocolate too. Bread has totally derailed me a couple of times, nann seems okay occasionally but not actual loaves of bread as a sandwich or toast. Kills my belly and I'm hungry and craving all sorts for days. Same with white pasta, brown rice and brown pasta is absolutely fine. Xx

NippyNinjaCrab · 17/03/2025 15:32

@whethertheweather that is beautiful, I love it. I'm afraid my crochet journey isn't doing so well but I will not be beaten!! Xx

Can you share who you followed on YouTube? I started with Bella Coco but I'm not on Hooked by Robin who i find so much better. I'm actually rubbish! I can do a chain and then the first row of SC, I've pulled it all out so many times! Turning the work and doing the next row has eluded me but I'll persevere. I normally would've given up by now and moved on to another thing haha.

whethertheweather · 17/03/2025 16:17

@NippyNinjaCrab The blanket pattern came from Kerry Jayne Designs Crochet – Kerry Jayne Designs Ltd. She also has lots of stitch tutorials and advice and also refers you to other places for more.

I kept going wrong on the first row after making the initial chain as I was missing out stitches and ending up with fewer than I was supposed to , so I went to Hobbeycraft and got some cheap super-chunky wool and a big needle so I could see the stitches easily. When I had mastered that, I got some Chunky, then after that went back to the Aran I was supposed to use. Thick wool makes big stitches so you can work out what's happening easier. Good luck!!

I think there's the odd person who doesn't ever feel hungry on MJ, but very few at this point. Assuming everyone else just doesn't ever fancy crisps or chocolate or overeating just ties into the idea that MJ is magical cheating and takes away from all the hard work we've been doing as a collective. Personally I always eat three meals, could eat more, would cheerfully eat loads of carbs except I know they make me hungry and put on weight. I'm doing pretty much the same as I always do to lose weight, it's just that MJ has made it easier to stick to - which I'm very grateful for! It's been awesome being able to start, continue and persist with the stuff that works, as I usually flake out on at least one of them. For me, the most magical bit has been that I'm in less pain from the arthritis in my spine, that's the bit that feels like a gift from the gods.

Mind you, MJ also makes me a bit of a hypochondriac, because I'm always monitoring myself for side effects or problems. I've had a terrible pain in my side this past week, which I'm 99% sure is from lifting something heavy and pulling a muscle (I did an awkward movement, felt a horrible scrumply feeling and the next day it started hurting). Nevertheless, I keep convincing myself it's a hideous side effect, even though I don't feel ill. I'd like to be on a slightly higher dose really, but I do want to minimise the chance of any poor outcomes.

@whethertheweather of course, awesome crochet is another benevolent outcome of MJ - great work!

qotsa · 17/03/2025 16:42

@NippyNinjaCrab😄 more about being a baby worrying so much. But then again. I did the seven plus jab this morning so I may be floored yet 😬

Weepixie · 17/03/2025 16:50

Assuming everyone else just doesn't ever fancy crisps or chocolate or overeating just ties into the idea that MJ is magical cheating and takes away from all the hard work we've been doing as a collective

Im very confused about the above - is that what Ive said? I’ve had to ask because I don’t think I have and I just wanted to check. Or perhaps my last post wasn’t even on your mind when you replied.

I think there's the odd person who doesn't ever feel hungry on MJ, but very few at this point

Thats not what I take away from the thread. I
Im inclined to believe that I hear more mention of suppression than hunger.

MabelSpan · 17/03/2025 16:52

Hi Folks!

Today has been a good day, I hit my 20% loss and 4st mark, finally, its taken 31 long weeks but from here on in I hope to be able to start noticing my shrinkage!
After no side effects from last weeks increase to 4.5mg I am sticking with it for the foreseeable.

@whethertheweather Your crotchet is lovely!

@qotsa You are hardcore to me! Well done with your codes!

@poppym12 Sts is a win in my book. I do time restricted eating and dont mind a bit of hunger, I find brushing my teeth can stop it, weirdly!

@Weepixie Bampot! I love that word, what does it mean?

@NippyNinjaCrab I had scrambled eggs on toast the other day, first bread (seedy and brown) I have had for months, when I checked the date it was July 24! Frozen obvs. I only have to sniff a carb, especially white bread and I gain a stone before I open my mouth!

weaselyeyes · 17/03/2025 16:53

No, I wasn't replying to you @weepixie, just musing generally on thoughts of suppression and hunger.

weaselyeyes · 17/03/2025 17:00

I think many find it easier to cope with experiencing some hunger - probably because MJ softens it - than experiencing suppression of it, is maybe a bit clearer.

Glad to hear you're doing so well @MabelSpan! I think 4 stone is a great benchmark for starting to feel a bit different, it was for me.

whethertheweather · 17/03/2025 17:03

@weaselyeyes thank you. I realise now that I have missed off the elephant's penis...

I agree with what you say about MJ making it easier to stick to a diet. I don't think I'm doing much different from previous diets (excepting the mad dust diet phases that always failed) in that I'm lowering carbs and calories, but this is massively supported by the fact I'm not hungry. I know I don't have the most balanced diet, but at least I am eating some form of proper food three times a day.

I have a bit of a horror of carbs as I love them, have no off switch with them and therefore usually just stop eating them when I'm dieting. DH's choice of dinner tonight is kedgeree. I've not really eaten pasta or rice since August , so I'm in a bit of a blind panic about portion control. I want to eat it with him to shut him up be normal. Do I just relax and recognise I've only had about 600 calories so far today, or should I be weighing my plate?

MJ has made DH a vicarious hypochondriac. I only have to say I've got a slight headache/bellyache/spot on my bum for him to panic and say "Is it your jabs?". It's either that or he asks if it's the menopause. Hopeless!

poppym12 · 17/03/2025 17:08

I eat crisps occasionally and chocolate but these days I can just have half a bag or a couple of squares to satisfy the craving. It doesn't fill me up but I don't suppose chocolate and crisps fill anyone up unless you eat loads in one go.

There are definitely things I don't even think about eating these days which I used to eat to excess before.

I hope I'm learning to listen to my body and not relying on the Mounjaro to do all the work.

Apart from the first week and the 3 weeks I was ill recently, I've continued to eat most things - just less of them.

weaselyeyes · 17/03/2025 17:15

I still feel pretty vulnerable in the face of carbs. When I ate more over Christmas it definitely wasn't a seamless shift back to not eating them afterwards. I still have to avoid them almost all the time to not get sucked back in. I find MJ definitely helps, but it doesn't make me immune to their siren call. I'm really determined to avoid UPFs as much as I can, though, because I don't think food is just about calories. There's so much evidence that UPFs can trigger inflammation, are bad for mood etc. At my age, I'm glad if I look better thinner than when I'm overweight, but my body looks dreadful compared to when I was last this weight. I can manage to diet but I forgot I got older in the meantime! I'm really going for health now above new clothes etc.

MabelSpan · 17/03/2025 17:33

Its weird the way MJ works for/affects us all so differently.
For me it has completely flatlined my emotions, I dont feel any joy in my weight loss but equally it has turned off the food noise which was my main issue, the obsessing and fixating on food for 101 reasons in a day.
I still eat pretty much the same way as I always have, (when I am being sensible, not listening to the food noise) twice a day and no later than 18.00hrs.
If I get hungry I eat, so long as its before 18.00hrs. I count my calories but focus on the daily average so have higher and lower days according to my needs.
I have had no desire for any cakes, choc, ice cream, crisps etc etc since I started.
I am still doing the 30 plants a week thing which, because I am being a sensible grown up with my eating, (not the food noise reactive human dustbin I can be) I have found it really easy this time.
I am 100% certain that I would not have been able to keep going and be so consistent with no self sabotage without MJ. I tried but my peri-menopause brain made it impossible.

Think I have rambled and gone off topic....sorry, its the painkillers🙂

weaselyeyes · 17/03/2025 17:43

Your strategies seem to have worked @MabelSpan! I do similar in eating style, but I haven't found it really easy. I think I found it really easy the first few weeks, but I also had worse side effects then. Now I settle for finding it easier rather than easy, and I'll take that.

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/03/2025 17:55

@whethertheweather nice of you to join us 😂 well done on huge loss

and good luck with your penis

does that sound too weird

@qotsasure you will be ok on 7 and if hungry /no suppression then needed to go up

well done @poppym12. Sts is still good and up to 12.5

it’s good you have will power

I feel hunger as well. I thought you are meant to

maybe try brown /whole meal bread @NippyNinjaCrab

@weaselyeyes carbs don’t make me feel hungry. I often eat pasta - jackets - bread
