Are there tips you wish you'd known in advance? Reassurance you would have benefited from hearing? Did something surprise you that you weren't expecting?

Start sooner! That's pretty much it.

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 07/03/2025 13:01

Take more ‘before’ photos.

daffodilandtulip · 07/03/2025 13:08

Collect a few cheap clothes in different sizes or you'll be walking around with your knickers round your ankles waiting for new clothes to be delivered.

Don't wait until you plateau before you go up a dose.

Doggymummar · 07/03/2025 13:11

Dint have a break, for Christmas or going on holiday. It's not worth it and will take months to lose what you gained. Oh, and how to hide all the begging " use my code" threads. If you can't afford it don't start.b

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 07/03/2025 13:14

I am so fucking sick of those threads @Doggymummar !!!

unsync · 07/03/2025 13:19

How liberating it is. Not just the food noise aspect, but actually enjoying exercising. I've always found it so difficult, but now, whilst it is still challenging, I feel that I can really change my health and fitness for the better.

I'm still getting used to being able to buy clothes in 'normal' shops. Going into M&S and buying things from the racks, it's taking a while for my head to catch up.

I do get cold. I assume having lost my layer of blubber, this is a normal thing that slim people don't even think about. I've spent most of winter in thermals and woollen jumpers.

CoverMeInMarmalade · 07/03/2025 13:32

Yep, 'start sooner' would be mine.

Also, set more money aside for the extra heating bill - I have been cold all winter!!

WLINewbie · 07/03/2025 13:59

Start sooner!

Also, there's sooo much more to it than weight loss, the liberation from food noise, the feeling full after a meal, the not constantly thinking about and eating trash is life changing.

BumbleWomp · 07/03/2025 14:09

@unsync wjat exercise are you doing?

unsync · 07/03/2025 15:03

@BumbleWomp I do Pilates four times a week, a tai chi / yoga/ pilates fusion class, yoga and meditation, as well as four weight sets a week and swimming / aqua aerobics. I think I'm fortunate in that I have the time, but also that I found a really lovely local gym where I feel comfortable and safe.

Seaitoverthere · 07/03/2025 15:50

Buy a heated blanket.

KeepUndercover · 07/03/2025 18:20

Start exercising immediately, especially weights and especially glute exercises. Your bum will thank you for it.

Yes to all of this! I order something new, look at it and think no chance. Even pulling it over my head, nope this is too small. Then it’s too big!
My (adult) daughter is like size 4 and always moans my house is cold. In January I was like ohhh it is cold isn’t it? She replied “told you it was just your fat.” 🤣

THIS

I now have a saggy old man bum and I wish I’d done more about it sooner

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 07/03/2025 19:10

That it WOULD bloody work and that it would COMPLETELY change my life!

SevernWonders · 07/03/2025 19:56

All of the above

GingerGirl4549 · 07/03/2025 20:11

Take measurement and most importantly don't compare myself and my speed of weight loss to other people on mounjaro

QueenOfHiraeth · 07/03/2025 20:11

That it is not a total miracle.

I mean it is a miracle in that I am in control of my eating (mostly!) and cravings are more manageable but my appetite is not suppressed as others say theirs is, I'm not starving hungry but could always eat.
It still takes commitment, self-discipline and effort

THIS. I took a break for a round birthday and Christmas (1 week after) and struggled so much to get back on track. And gained a lot of weight back.

TheMorels · 07/03/2025 20:19

Even though I was not huge by most standards, losing the weight has made me so happy. It’s made me realise how being overweight clouded every single day. To anyone dithering, I’d say ‘do it!’.

FeatherFace · 07/03/2025 20:50

Yes! You absolutely must do weight bearing exercises. Don't put it off!

I have gone from 15 stone to 9 stone 7. My legs and bottom are extremely slim, my bottom is flat. And when I say flat, it's just an extension of my back. I have visibly lost muscle tone

Having said that, I'm not tottering about all weakly! But I should have focused on weights and not walking / swimming / spin classes.

Be warned!

TheMorels · 07/03/2025 20:57

15 stone to 9 stone 7

That’s amazing!

Itdoesntmatteranyway · 07/03/2025 21:21

Does anyone else feel shit on it?

FeatherFace · 07/03/2025 21:34

@TheMorels thanks! It took me from early May 2024 and I was about 10 stone in November 2024. It's taken the past 4 months to chip away at a further 7 lbs.

Think I'm about done now so im on a maintenance dose and titrating down

How are you getting on?

GeorgiesCat · 07/03/2025 21:44

How long have you been in it, qmd how long does it take to lose a stone?
