Let's do a mounjaro Lent challenge!

NoisyMintCrab · 04/03/2025 17:07

Would anyone like to join me in a mounjaro related challenge for Lent?

I'm giving up chocolate, crisps and sweets to try and break my taste for them (shouldn't be eating them on mj anyway!)

Please come join me on this thread if you'd like to set yourself a challenge too, maybe

  • doing 25 squats a day
  • Eating 100g protein a day
  • Getting 7000 steps a day
  • Giving up dairy
  • Limiting social media
  • Daily meditation
  • Etc :)

I’m aiming to actually hit my fiber goal every day! I never realised it was actually an issue for me because I was always, well, very regular. But MJ has made me realise my fiber intake is ridiculously low if I don’t work at it.

ShortFatAndCluttered · 05/03/2025 19:24

Can I join in? I like the idea of the challenge even though I’m not on mj just yet. If that’s not okay, let me know.

Of course! Welcome 😀

Drinking lots of water and eating fibre are the real grown-up goals!!

One day down 39 to go! I’m going to also add in putting cream on my feet before bedtime so I’m ready for sandals by Easter.

ChristmasLightsLover · 06/03/2025 14:34

I have been for my walk. I think that's my second or third day of a short walk. Coming out of a chest infection so I'm disproportionately pleased with this.

I'm wfh because of my persistent coughing but it does mean that I am able to neck more water through the day. Just starting my third pint.

How are the rest of us doing? Do I also get a housepoint for remembering that I'm not eating chocolate?

Similar to others I am consuming chocolate - protein shakes for breakfast and lunch that are choc flavoured. But for me, it doesn't count!

ChristmasLightsLover · 06/03/2025 14:36

@NoisyMintCrab Yes. Yes and yes re fibre. If you want to tell us what you're having you'd be welcome to. And might inspire others. If not, no worries.

@Squeakpopcorn I like the self care aspect of this. I put moisturiser on this morning. And eye cream. Was nice.

ChristmasLightsLover · 06/03/2025 14:38

Hello @ShortFatAndCluttered - great username!!! What are you giving up or changing?

@Bananaramram sorry, mis attributed your fibre to @NoisyMintCrab .... I feel I need to write down names and topics to reply to because I forget once I hit reply!

ShortFatAndCluttered · 06/03/2025 15:26

Hello and thank you for the welcome :-))

My changes are to get up earlier in the morning so that I can have a quiet time for uninterrupted thoughts, and prepare for the coming day. I did it today and the morning went much more smoothly than usual. Also in bed earlier

Dry days - garden for fresh air and exercise.
Wet days- housework for exercise, and decluttering.

Food and drink - no fizzy drinks or alcohol. Tea and occasional katte. Salad leaves and protein (usually meat or fish) lunch and tea. Home-made soup. Sourdough bread. Fruit in plain yogurt. Basically keeping it simple and quick to prepare.

Trying very much to live on a more even keel, with time for reflection and self-care.

ShortFatAndCluttered · 06/03/2025 15:33

Oh, forgot - no corner shops or convenience stores or drive-thru. Online deliveries as much as poss. No impulse buys.

GutsyFinch · 06/03/2025 16:05

Hi I would like to join in with this challenge and do 7000 steps every day x

Hangryfastjo · 06/03/2025 16:52

Just read through the thread, some great commitments and on that note I've realised, despite it being a lovely day day I've not walked so popping out now 👋🏻

That's a good idea, I am eyeing up body moisturiser or bio oil too!

Got to say, the menu sounds delish!

Three staples in my diet now: dates (also good if my calories are too low!), quinoa, and sweet potato!

GutsyFinch · 06/03/2025 19:50

7600 steps so far today. I’m planning to get on the treadmill every day as my job is very sedentary. X

I recommend nivea express hydration. Pump top so no faffing around getting it out and it’s absorbed really quickly. I still can’t be bothered most of the time.

Hello. My name is ChrisrmasLightLover and I am putting myself to bed with yet another bloody apple because otherwise I will eat a lot of Nutella. Thank you and goodnight ;)

How's everyone getting on? Finding it easy, or difficult?

OP posts:
Squeakpopcorn · 08/03/2025 06:47

Mixed. I’m improving on not repeatedly standing in front of the biscuit tin with a hopeful feeling but I did have a couple of spoonful of my kids shreddies at their supper time. I go on holiday in less than 100 days which is helping me along.

Username0826485858585 · 08/03/2025 07:01

Im all for a challenge.
I go on holiday half way through though so need to be realistic.
My challenge is to keep the water uptake up.
Get up from my desk more often even if that is getting my drink separate to the loo.

ShortFatAndCluttered · 08/03/2025 20:46

I’ve been spending a bit more time in the garden tidying and pruning. Quite good exercise making up for neglecting it for about a year now.

Hardest thing is avoiding the drive-thru coffee and cookies. But otoh no fizzy drinks. And I ate some protein and salad.

Starting to enjoy getting up earlier. Allowed myself slightly longer this morning but felt a bit restless. So I might get up as soon as I waken regardless of the time (within reason!) and see how that goes.

Marylou2 · 09/03/2025 09:05

Can I join, please? I'm definitely up for the 7000 steps. Particularly as the weather seems more spring-like. Also, decluttering, too. I'm trying not to commit to anything I don't want to do just to appear agreeable. Don't know if anyone else resonates with this.
Would be fabulous to feel lighter in so many different ways by Easter

Squeakpopcorn · 09/03/2025 10:03

@Username0826485858585 I am
so hit and miss with water. I’ve found warm water better and I did read a tip that if you’re a tea or coffee drinker then having a glass of water while the kettle boils is a good idea. I haven’t tried it.

@ShortFatAndCluttered being outside is so good for people. I’ve got rid of 25 bin bags stuff in the last 2 weeks it feels great but not enough!

@Marylou2 the more the merrier.

I’m 4 days into no sugar except for some vile cough medicine which I’m not counting.
