mounjarowoman · 19/02/2025 09:33

Started with BMI 42, been on Mounjaro for 2 months, but haven't lost any weight. Done 2.5 (4x doses) and 5 ml (fourth dose tomorrow). Clothes feel better, but scales are not moving. No side effects. Shall I persevere? Any of you who did and started loosing weight later on? Thanks

How many calories are you eating a day, are you in a calorie deficit?

I am now 7 weeks in, 14lb down, on 5mg I am eating appx 1400k a day sometimes less

mounjaromarc · 19/02/2025 09:41

Scales didn't move for me on 5mg and put on 2kg on 7.5mg. it's not working for me either.

SilenceInside · 19/02/2025 09:41

I would continue, as there are some people who need the higher doses to start losing reasonable amounts of weight.

Have you had any feelings of a reduction in appetite, feeling fuller quickly, and for longer? Or just nothing at all?

Have you been eating in a calorie deficit, if you've been tracking calories?

Tumbleweed44 · 19/02/2025 09:42

Have you read the information? You are not even on the therapeutic dose yet!

The OP is on 5mg which is a "therapeutic" dose.

MajorCarolDanvers · 19/02/2025 09:44

2.5 did nothing for me. Slow loss on 5. Really started to shift from 7.5 onwards.

Glorybox2025 · 19/02/2025 09:45

Have you felt any physical changes? I would try another month at the next dose up. Are you counting calories?

Sunnydiary · 19/02/2025 09:52

For some people the therapeutic dose is 7.5 and above.

Are you getting appetite suppression?

Has your calorie intake reduced?

How old/tall/heavy/active are you?

Eating less, appetite decreased, feeling full faster, but not tracking calories. Eating healthy, homemade meals. No snacking.

I would guess that you're eating less but still eating at a maintenance level. It might be worth tracking calories for a few days, and comparing that to your current TDEE to see what kind of calorie deficit, if at all, you're in.

Track them for a week and see where you are at. If you were in a true calorie deficit you would be losing weight.

Not for her!

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 19/02/2025 10:19

If you are experiencing appetite suppression then it is ‘working’.

You need to calculate your TDEE and track your calories. If you remain consistently in a calorie deficit the scales will shift. I suspect that although you are eating less than before you are nevertheless taking in ‘maintenance’ calories.

OrlandointheWilderness · 19/02/2025 10:27

5 was pretty much a none event for me - I've just moved up to 7.5 and it's definitely better!

WitchDancer · 19/02/2025 10:57

I've been on MJ for 6 months now and have just started the 15 dose. I have lost some weight but not as quickly as others that started at the same time. I believe this is for two reasons.

The first is I didn't get as much suppression with the lower doses.

The second is I didn't count calories. I have just started doing this and have come to realise I was going over what I should have been having, even though it certainly wasn't as bad as it was before I started MJ.

mamabeeboo · 19/02/2025 12:32

I'm in the same boat OP - I'm on week 5 and 1st dose of 5mg might as well have been water. I had the big suppression on the first week 2.5mg which wore off by day 7 and never seemed to get it back.

Trying hard with calorie counting, and was very good for the first few weeks but now it's hard since I'm getting hungry as per usual.

I hate to think that this is another diet that doesn't work on me and I am destined to be fat 😕

I think maybe I haven't found the dose that works for me. So my plan is to keep going through the doses until one fits and works for me, otherwise will get to 15mg and give up.

RunSlowTalkFast · 19/02/2025 16:40

I didn't really notice any suppression until 7.5mg and even that wasn't much. Noticed it more on 10mg and have lost 12lbs in total so I would persevere. Going up to 12.5mg in a couple of weeks.

That’s great for your healthy and it’s working if appetite decreasing.

however to lose weight you need to be in a calorie deficit. If you’re not losing it’s because you’re eating enough to maintain. Even though it’s healthy stuff.

work out your tdee. Plenty of online calculators. Aim for 500 under for 1lb a week loss. 1000 under for 2lbs. And you will need to track accurately if not used to it.

Not for her!

Yes it is, she’s feeling fuller and appetite decreasing, she’s simply over eating ro lose weight.

If you are not tracking, how do you know you are in deficit? Healthy, homemade food can still be high in calories.

Not enough to lose any weight though! How can you say 5mg is a therapeutic dose for her if she is not losing weight? OP has more titrating up to do.

Iaintsadwhenugotobed · 19/02/2025 20:32

I have just taken my second dose on 12.5ml and have started to lose around 2pounds ish a week. It took ages for me as well. Even in a calorie deficit. I’m on month 5 and am down around 30 pounds. I’ve had so many months where I’ve lost almost nothing. This dose seems hopeful but has come with side affects that I didn’t have before. Nausea vomiting etc xx

Well the drug doesn't work on its own. It suppresses your appetite so that you can easily create a calorie deficit. But you're right, she probably needs to go up a dose or two before she sees real results.

witte · 19/02/2025 20:34

7.5 was the game changer for me

Because the drug doesn’t make you lose weight, under eating does. So she needs to reduce her cals, using the appetite suppressant and feeling fuller to enable that. Yes she needs to go up, but it is a therapeutic dose. For everyone.
