Anyone else had reduced joint pain anywhere?

for years, at least 12, I have had pain in my knees when going up and down stairs, sometimes even doing the clutch in the car.

but now… it’s completely gone.

I live in a bungalow so hadn’t noticed till I was at my mil house and went up the stairs .. it took me by surprise as I braced myself for the pain, but nada!

I then proceeded that night to lay in bed lifting my leg up and bending my knee, much to the amusement of my husband 🤣

iv only been on it 5 weeks - amazing!

Have gone off alcohol. Just don't fancy it any more.

Bibulous · 18/02/2025 09:25

My plantar fasciitis has disappeared which I'm very happy about!

My plantar fasciitis has disappeared which I'm very happy about!

So has mine! This is the biggest plus at the moment, frankly...! I've had PF for well over 10 years - have had steroid injections, electric shock treatment, physio etc. etc. Accepted I'll just always be in pain and have to wear very specific shoes - and it had gone within a few days of being on Mounjaro. I'm 6 weeks in and still can't believe it 🙂

Also, my IBS has completely gone - also miraculous for me - a massive life changer as I can now go out and not worry about where the nearest loo is.

The weight loss is going well, but the 2 things above are why I'm really happy at the moment 😍

This might be the thing that persuades me to do it, I've also heard people stop snoring. These 2 things alone would massively improve my life.

MooBaggage · 18/02/2025 09:41

Yes I've got obstructive sleep apnoea and use a CPAP - am really hopeful that in 12 months' time I won't need it...

I've had several people now tell me their IBS has completely gone after being on it.
As someone who has suffered half my life I'm rather jealous it's helping so many people with their gut issues.

scanni · 18/02/2025 09:45

It's massively helped my ADHD and general confidence (probably due to not feeling so out of control)

LunchtimeNaps · 18/02/2025 09:53

I've gone off alcohol and I really liked my wine. I've also noticed my blood pressure is lower than normal. I'm on meds for high blood pressure but I'm hoping I won't need them soon.

Queenofthejabs · 18/02/2025 10:00

It reduces inflammation in the body. I used to not be able to kneel down fully, you know a sitting kneel, where you rest your bum on the back of your heels. I couldn’t do it, as my ankles wouldn’t bend and it caused me pain. Now I can do it and sit comfortably in that position.

additonally I don’t have stiff ankles in the morning any more.

i also had developed plantar fasciitis, which was on and off and painful and that’s gone completely too.

lastly my stomach was very extended, like 9 months pregnant level, literally, that shrunk back to normal, fat very quickly indeed.

kmreeve · 18/02/2025 10:57

Arh this is brilliant to hear that it’s doing other fantastic things!

I've only lost 4 or 5kg so far (maybe not even that much tbh) and already I've cured my sleep issues.

I've spent the last almost two years waking every couple of hours to pee, I've been absolutely distraught with the exhaustion.

But, I've actually slept through the night every night for a week, and it's magic how much more alert I feel.

On the other hand, I've got wicked constipation so swings and roundabouts lol!

healthybychristmas · 18/02/2025 11:25

I had almost constant indigestion before and I always thought I was going to end up having tube down my throat and hospital for investigation. That made me feel ill just to think about it. I haven't had any indigestion since the injections and I realise now it was all weight related and due to eating the wrong things in the evening. I don't snore now. Everything just feels easier. I'm down 23 kg.

BookishType · 18/02/2025 11:33

An old shoulder injury that used to regularly give me pain has not bothered me in months. A niggly left sided pain I used to get most days after eating has gone entirely.

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 18/02/2025 12:12

yes I agree with quite a few of these! I'd been referred to orthopaedics for my PF, but after losing about 20kg it's gone. DH had just been given a CPAP machine for sleep apnea, but he's not currently using it as all the snoring and breathing episodes have stopped and he's sleeping really well. He's considering going back to the doctors and asking to be assessed again before giving the machine up completely.

I've started going back to my midweek sports training that I'd stopped going to as I was too knackered after work, and I pretty much don't drink anymore. I miss the idea of drinking, but when it comes round to it, I just don't reach for a drink anymore. I've now lost 38kg, but am still quite overweight so I'll keep taking it until I get to a size that I'm happy with. Its honestly changed my life so much in a positive way!

gimmemounjaro · 18/02/2025 12:24

I am 4 stone down. Like PPs:

  • knee pain gone
  • shoulder pain reduced
  • sleep much better
  • having a whale of a time on Vinted, have never really been interested in clothes before and hate shopping

And the negatives:

  • eczema worse but controllable as long as I stay off the dairy, never had to do that before though
  • occasional bunged up feeling but can't complain as this is my only real side effect and it's nothing really
  • feet are apparently smaller and some of my boots now need to be worn with two pairs of socks
zerofucksgivenever · 18/02/2025 12:28

I'm always too hot and now not (but sometimes too cold) and the thought of chocolate makes me want to vom !

Stai · 18/02/2025 12:52

Yes you can see now why in most cases when going to the doctor they tell you to lose weight as a first step!! Just even losing a bit helps with things like joint pain and sleep apnea. Just think of all the other ailments than can be reduced with weight loss and lifting the burden on our healthcare system. It’s great when people manage to do it by themselves, but this really makes a case for medical intervention (jabs, tablets, etc) for those like me that find it hard.

I’ve noticed that I don’t eat so much at dinner anymore. I can also enjoy a sweet treat, where before I hated sweet things and was always so jealous of people with cakes as they look delicious. Unfortunately my increased sweet tooth has also led to increased wine consumption! But, the benefit (?) is I can drink a lot more without getting a hangover now. Not sure that’s a complete benefit, but it’s nice not to have a hangover!!

I’m on MJ just started but it really is just a case of loosing weight improves your health. All things positive noted are things that improve with weight loss, so obviously not the MJ itself but MJ assisting in weight loss. I’m hoping that my back/knee pain improves as I drop so lbs

I don't think that's true, particularly in the cases of it reducing inflammation and helping with ADHD focus. I understand a lot of good side effects are just down to weight loss but I think the GLP-1 deserves more credit here as it is doing more

HeavyHeidi · 18/02/2025 13:00

I have lost weight before, never has it put me off wine.

PaintDecisions · 18/02/2025 13:04

My rings are so loose I'm going to get sizing beads put in them - no point having them resized yet!

My snoring has improved according to DH, only a couple of nights a month now.

Only one binge session in 4 months, and I really didn't enjoy it. And it was 1/3 the size of a usual one...

Not enjoying takeaway food at all. Not even Chinese food or pizza which were the main things keeping me very fat.

Very little food brings me much pleasure except rice dishes weirdly enough!

I'm 4 stone down. Another 3.5 to get to a BMI of 30.

No, many people are reporting changes to their pain levels and chronic conditions before they've even lost a few pounds.

My migraines have noticeably improved - although I'm ctually having a bad fortnight with them currently, but that's the first glut I've had in months which is an incredible change. Neurology were surprised by the differences in my attacks! I had barely any attacks at all in the first few months, but it's creeping back up again. And that's also typical of my response to migraine meds as well.

The drug is clinically proven to reduce inflammation in the body, hence why so many people are having improved markers which were previously due to inflammation, so quickly.

I’m not sure that’s right, there seems to be health benefits separate from the weight loss but not fully understood.

This study found an increased risk of joint pain though.

i have read a lot into before taking took me a good 6 months or so to decide to go on it. Yes there is good initial stuff coming out but all very similar to positives of loosing weight in my opinion as well. I’m not arguing it doesn’t assist or improve other issues people know a lot more than I do, but a lot of the issues helps improve (not everything) also is improved by weight loss. The article states about heart health etc which we all know is improved with lower weight. Surprised it mentioned joint pain increasing as I have read about anti-inflammatory benefits as others have stated.
