I am taking Mounjaro...

I dont eat alot ( I KNOW i should- just lost my mojo a bit)

Funnily though I have not lost alot of weight despite eating way less than <1000kcals some days

Why is that???

I know that I need to do better I have just been feeling a bit uninspired but I have got a nice mealplan sorted now.

I just wondered WHY? X

It sounds like you are not eating enough and your body is in famine mode. Try eating a little more of the good stuff and make sure you're drinking plenty of water.

This isn't a real thing

You’re not eating in a calorie deficit if you’re not losing weight.

Calculate what calories and protein you need to lose weight on the free James smith academy calculator. Then log every single thing, oil, drinks, sauces, the lot on my fitness pal.

I'm the same. Been on 2.5mg since early December and lost 10lbs.
I barely hit 1000 cals a day, I thought the weight would just drop off. I am 3-4 stone over weight which isn't massive.
My life is very stationery though so I'm heading back to the gym next and am interested to see what happens.

Why haven't you gone up the doses?

TriangleLight · 11/02/2025 13:29

And no, famine mode is not a thing, as is obvious if you see people who are in a famine 🙈

@Gettingslimmer I was told that if I'm not craving or overeating on 2.5mg to stay on it.

But if you aren't losing weight this is the wrong advice! Who told you this?

Honestly it is not possible to eat 1000 cals a day and maintain an obese weight. Never mind become obese in the first place.

im sorry but if you wish to lose weight, you need to revisit your calorie intake as you’re hugely underestimating.

Agree and I think I definitely need to track my calories more closely. But if I was overeating in the first place, shouldn't Mounjaro be helping me reduce my eating levels? I am just surprised that it has had zero impact.

Same issue for me. I haven't lost even 1 lb since starting the 2.5mg three weeks ago. I am hoping it will go better once I up to 5mg. I eat healthy and eat around 1000 calories (have always done) so I am wondering if there is something else wrong. All the threads with amazing weight loss journeys are making it even harder to stay on Mounjaro!

How on earth are you obese if your TDEE is 1000 calories a day?!

I mean it's not, your TDEE cannot be that low unless you're 3 foot tall, 75 years old and bed bound, so something is very wrong in your calculations

RunSlowTalkFast · 11/02/2025 13:36

I barely lost anything on 2.5mg and 5mg but that's because it didn't really have an effect and I think was struggling to even stay under 2000 calories!

I'm 5'2 and my starting BMI was 32 so I was at the smaller end of the mounjaro user scale. I do not believe people are not losing weight eating 1000 calories a day, you're lying to yourself.

7.5mg and 10mg have started to have more and more of an effect so stick with it but be honest about your calorie intake.

Yes, but you’re not even on a full dose, you’re on the starter dose to help your body get used to it before the first dose at 5mg.

and yes of course you’re overeating, and signifantly, like all of us, you have to have been to become obese. Fat doesn’t grow out of nothing, it has to be due to excess cals going in.

you need to track your cals. To maintain at obese, you’re likely eating two to 3 times as much as you think.

InfoSecInTheCity · 11/02/2025 14:03

@mjcosy pre-MJ were you steadily gaining weight? And now are you staying stable or slowly losing?

If you are no longer gaining weight then it is having an effect but the result is neutral rather than positive.

You do still need to follow a 'diet plan' with MJ, in that you need to understand how many calories you should be eating and how many you are eating. You need to be in a deficit to lose weight, increasing activity will give you a bigger threshold but will also make you hungrier so it's important to track as accurately as you can and to make choices that maximise nutrition and minimise empty calories.
