Oushk Maintenance

TheWildRoseBear · 27/01/2025 23:45

Just saw this posted on Oushk facebook group for anyone considering them for maintenance.

^^^

We understand that there's currently a bit of a wait for consultations, and we're doing our very best to get everyone signed up as quickly as possible. However, to make things even better, I'm collaborating with our awesome web developers to streamline and automate the process going forward. Please bear with us for the next few weeks, and I'll be sharing all the exciting details soon! 😁

Thank you so much for your patience and understanding. This will also come with a very special update for all our patients who are in maintenance or getting there very soon!!

For those who are looking for more information, I will add a few points:

Oushk currently offers 3 plans, conti, taper and flexi - the details of each are available on our website but please know that these plans are set as guides and no one has to follow them in any way.

As an overview -

Conti means continuous use of medication for as long as needed and appropriate (meaning this can be life long)

Taper means you would like to come off the medication eventually (whether this takes 6 months or 6 years, it does not matter)

Flexi is for when you decide you would like to try maintenance with lifestyle changes but would like an option to restart the medication at a later time (even at a lower BMI) - as long as you have been our patient, you will always be our patient so we will ensure you will always be looked after.

The ultimate decision about your dosage will still be with the patient and as a prescriber we will be able to help you with this during the consultation to come up with an individualised plan.

The 3 monthly "thing" is a checking point for the safety of both our prescribers and our patients to see how things are going - this is not a subscription nor a commitment. You can stop ordering at any point you like!

When prescribing at lower BMIs, its even more important for us to ensure our patients are monitored to reduce the risk of anyone slipping in to the underweight BMI.

Other bits we often get asked about:

• we will prescribe down to a BMI of 19 if appropriate for the patient.

• you can start maintenance at any BMI - even at 28 if thats what you would like to do.

• each pen still needs to be used within 30 days so if you would like to inject every 14 days then you will only be able to use 3 doses out of your pen. (for mounjaro) - wegovy is within 6 weeks of opening

• month on / month off is fine however there is no scientific data to suggest that this is a good way to maintain.

• if you stop medication and would like to restart after more than 8 weeks - you will need to start again at 2.5mg.

• if you would like to move to us from another pharmacy and your BMI is within the healthy range, then we will ask for evidence of at least last 3 prescriptions and a full body image from before you started your treatment. - this is so we can build up a case study for you on our system so we can justify prescribing for someone at a lower BMI.

• maintenance should only really start once you have reached your goal weight as this is when you increase your calories to stop losing the weight.

• if you are at a lower dose such as 5mg, you are still able to increase to 7.5mg while in maintenance if needed

• we will never "cut" anyone off but will work with you to ensure we can always put your needs and benefits first as long as the treatment is safe.

More than anything, Oushk recognises obesity as a condition that requires not just treatment, but also management and prevention AND mounjaro and wegovy are both fully licensed for treatment and management i.e. maintenance.

@TheWildRoseBear
Yes I think there's something in this. It's a bit of a club, for women who need lots of validation and to feel like they belong somewhere, have some importance and are understood. Just happens they've landed there, where it's pretty easy to appear special, given the state of FB. I don't think they'd get away it here as no one's really interested in endless plugs for one company. It's all a bit sad and cringey and while I do think Hira is genuine, I do wonder what she really thinks about it (although all the new products and pink branding suggests she knows it's a great cash cow)

I follow this thread as I’m interested to swapping over to Oushk, but the gushy comments actually made me wonder if it was some kind of pyramid scheme!

I’m no where near maintenance and definitely not part of a cult but we have received a great service from them. Delivery and ordering has been good and was able to speak on the phone with a prescriber when my DH was ill.

The Oushk cult extends itself well out of that facebook group as well.

I know anyone can say anything on the internet, but one well-known member of the Reddit MJ forums received abusive messages, death threats and even referrals to Reddit Suicide Prevention after posting about - wait for it - receiving a delayed pen in the post from Oushk.

www.reddit.com/r/UKMounjaro/comments/1hrvifs/not_a_great_customer_care_experience_with_oushk/

I don't use reddit and it asks for a sign in on the link so won't bother, but that is shocking!

Hira needs to think carefully about how much of a public presence she really wants, is that more important than a successful business - being in the public eye is not always a good place to be! Lots of nutters out there unfortunately.

Cantbesure · 28/01/2025 16:41

I'm very interested in the maintenance plans from Oushk. Both for the flexibility and the price. But that message from an oushk lover was a bit cringe. And I'm amazed to hear they deliver in branded packaging. That's pretty poor.

You are making me think now, but I’m sure ours have just come in grey postage bags.

I don't remember my January order being branded. Well the bag was white I think with mabey a o on it.

I get my next delivery on Friday so will update with what the bag looks like

TheWildRoseBear · 28/01/2025 18:43

the new bags are just pink with ö on them so not super branded as such - looks more like a clothing company / makeup brand

I'm with Oushk, they're fine, they sell me a product I want. I had no idea there was a Facebook page full of cult mentals, that's my evening entertainment sorted... popping over there now 😆

KrankyKumquat · 28/01/2025 19:05

Here it is. I don't think anyone would know what it is from this tbh.

The packaging is quite nice tbf. Did you buy the little travel pouch too?

TheChosenTwo · 28/01/2025 20:25

I thought that first response was AI 🫣😆
Ive been with Oushk since the beginning purely so I could choose a delivery day that I would be home for. I’ve been happy with them in that they provide a service I want!
The maintenance plans at first glance look decent but I’m a few stone away from considering my options yet. But I will be sticking with them.
Never been on a Facebook group for them 😂

Doggymummar · 28/01/2025 20:36

@TheChosenTwo me too. Never seen such teenaged gushing since my diary aged 13and three quarters

No, just pinched the photo off FB!

Oceangrey · 28/01/2025 21:10

Used them from the start, they have been helpful and responsive. I don't use FB these days so had no idea about this mad group!
That earlier post was pretty weird - chill out, it's a pharmacy! I'm happy that they do flexible maintenance plans.

Firstandlastday · 28/01/2025 21:20

I ordered with them first time a month ago I'm on my week 3 first pen 2.5 mg had no clue they are good. What prompted me is blue light card and do discount. I haven't ordered next pen yet as I don't know what to do go higher to 5 mg or stay on 2.5 mg. Now makes me wonder if I should consult them. Nobody never rung me or email etc.

BelowPurpleApple · 28/01/2025 21:26

Wow! Posters here are really mean bullies and hypocrites. I did nothing wrong but hope you're all happy with yourselves!

Oceangrey · 28/01/2025 21:43

Look, I'm happy you're happy with them. I am too. It's just that identifying as an 'oushker' does seem a bit over the top and made the rest of the post seem like maybe it wasn't genuine. I get it's probably tongue in cheek and you're just enthusiastic.

Pinkbendyman · 28/01/2025 21:53

I’ve been with Oushk for a while now, reached my goal weight in November and have my consultation for maintenance booked in a couple of weeks.

I absolutely can’t stand overly gushing flattery and all that nonsense - just good customer service, decent prices and that’s what matters most to me.

Checked their website yesterday and I’m sure the Flexi plan used to be advertised as £20 per month - now £15 per month.

LightCameraBitchSmile · 28/01/2025 21:59

Anyone know if I've got any chance of being prescribed?

I was on wegovy nov23-dec 24 and came off. I've put a stone back on in a month.

I'd like to move onto mounjaro to lose that stone and more, then maintain. But my bmi is now 'healthy' though the top end

Any chance do you think or do I have to wait until I'm obese again to get help 😢

Wouldn't hurt to email with evidence of your prescription history, details of bmi and ask if you would be accepted onto their maintenance plan and how to organise.

I was wondering about the name Oushk, as it is unusual and found this?

https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Oushk

The name was explained in one of the FB lives. Something made up and originally registered for a fragrance business that they didn't start and repurposed for the pharmacy. Apparently they subsequently found out it translates to something about beauty in Arabic.

The first post on this thread says they will prescribe to BMI 19 if you can show three months proof of prescriptions.

Ok, I see, sorry that the one I found was not respectful. That makes more sense.

LightCameraBitchSmile · 28/01/2025 22:33

You're right @Doggymummar but I missed out the most important part!!

I've not been prescribed wegovy since last sept/oct when I ordered two highest dose pens, as I was self dosing. So I guess I'll need to try them and find out
