Oushk Maintenance

TheWildRoseBear · 27/01/2025 23:45

Just saw this posted on Oushk facebook group for anyone considering them for maintenance.

^^^

We understand that there's currently a bit of a wait for consultations, and we're doing our very best to get everyone signed up as quickly as possible. However, to make things even better, I'm collaborating with our awesome web developers to streamline and automate the process going forward. Please bear with us for the next few weeks, and I'll be sharing all the exciting details soon! 😁

Thank you so much for your patience and understanding. This will also come with a very special update for all our patients who are in maintenance or getting there very soon!!

For those who are looking for more information, I will add a few points:

Oushk currently offers 3 plans, conti, taper and flexi - the details of each are available on our website but please know that these plans are set as guides and no one has to follow them in any way.

As an overview -

Conti means continuous use of medication for as long as needed and appropriate (meaning this can be life long)

Taper means you would like to come off the medication eventually (whether this takes 6 months or 6 years, it does not matter)

Flexi is for when you decide you would like to try maintenance with lifestyle changes but would like an option to restart the medication at a later time (even at a lower BMI) - as long as you have been our patient, you will always be our patient so we will ensure you will always be looked after.

The ultimate decision about your dosage will still be with the patient and as a prescriber we will be able to help you with this during the consultation to come up with an individualised plan.

The 3 monthly "thing" is a checking point for the safety of both our prescribers and our patients to see how things are going - this is not a subscription nor a commitment. You can stop ordering at any point you like!

When prescribing at lower BMIs, its even more important for us to ensure our patients are monitored to reduce the risk of anyone slipping in to the underweight BMI.

Other bits we often get asked about:

• we will prescribe down to a BMI of 19 if appropriate for the patient.

• you can start maintenance at any BMI - even at 28 if thats what you would like to do.

• each pen still needs to be used within 30 days so if you would like to inject every 14 days then you will only be able to use 3 doses out of your pen. (for mounjaro) - wegovy is within 6 weeks of opening

• month on / month off is fine however there is no scientific data to suggest that this is a good way to maintain.

• if you stop medication and would like to restart after more than 8 weeks - you will need to start again at 2.5mg.

• if you would like to move to us from another pharmacy and your BMI is within the healthy range, then we will ask for evidence of at least last 3 prescriptions and a full body image from before you started your treatment. - this is so we can build up a case study for you on our system so we can justify prescribing for someone at a lower BMI.

• maintenance should only really start once you have reached your goal weight as this is when you increase your calories to stop losing the weight.

• if you are at a lower dose such as 5mg, you are still able to increase to 7.5mg while in maintenance if needed

• we will never "cut" anyone off but will work with you to ensure we can always put your needs and benefits first as long as the treatment is safe.

More than anything, Oushk recognises obesity as a condition that requires not just treatment, but also management and prevention AND mounjaro and wegovy are both fully licensed for treatment and management i.e. maintenance.

Finally we have our own thread dedicated to the best pharmacy that's leading the way in maintenance. I'm proud to be an Oushker! It is so reassuring to feel held safely by Oushk; they're a fabulous, caring, professional team and many others could learn from them.

I cannot tell you how relieved and reassured I am to have moved to Oushk. All of this support and information is why I’m so glad I moved. Always top service and caring about us! My consultation with Hira reassured me that I will have access to appropriate support in the long term. They're such a supportive and brilliant pharmacy - Oushk's care and dedication to us is why once I started with them, I stopped chasing the cheaper prices.

Honestly the peace of mind that being with Oushk gives is priceless. Because of Oushk, I finally understood the meaning of maintenance.I'm really impressed with everything they do.

Thank you to Hira, Bilal and the team, their care is amazing. I never got this degree of clarity from former prescribers and I know that Hira and the Oushk team have our best interests at heart. 😍😍

If you're not with Oushk, you're missing out.

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 28/01/2025 09:57

@BelowPurpleApple seriously, please keep your fan love to the fb group!

Adelstrop · 28/01/2025 10:05

That’s really helpful. I am with Oushk at the moment (but avoiding the FB group as it seems a bit cultish). I’m happy with the service, and particularly with their responsiveness compared with another provider I have used, but have been thinking about maintenance (some way off!), and this recent information indicates a lot of flexibility. I think most providers will have to go this way eventually, because there will be a big market for bespoke maintenance plans.

@BelowPurpleApple seriously, please keep your fan love to the fb group!

Why?

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 28/01/2025 10:14

Because they are a great pharmacy whose reputation is being destroyed by the ‘cultish’ idiots in their fb group who seem to think that the sun and moon rises on Hira and Bilal! They did not invent mounjaro and are simply running a business. If you want to gush, please confine yourself to the fb group with the like minded people.

BelowPurpleApple · 28/01/2025 10:17

I can gush about them anywhere I like, thanks. And this is a dedicated Oushk thread anyway.

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 28/01/2025 10:28

Well actually it’s not. It’s a thread with a quote from the fb group about maintenance which Hira put up earlier. But you gush away and I’ll hide the thread so I don’t have to see the idiocy.

Agree with @IReallyNeedThisToWork calm down.

They are a pharmacy prescribing a drug.

Yes it is good they are being clear and explicit reagarding their approach to maintence but for most people ( me included) the ott is just of putting.

NorthFaceofthelaundrypile · 28/01/2025 11:49

I follow this thread as I’m interested to swapping over to Oushk, but the gushy comments actually made me wonder if it was some kind of pyramid scheme!

I swapped over to them as my BMI reached 30. Been there a couple of months and I find them good.

You can pick your delivery date. They mostly send out % off so I just wait till I get one of those to order my new pen.

I think just avoided the Facebook which from what everyone says is very very cultish and comments like the first one.

In reality they are a reliable company with a good clear maintnece plan.

KrankyKumquat · 28/01/2025 12:13

@Caffeineneedednow and @IReallyNeedThisToWork
I agree with you both. I've been with Oushk for many months and am really happy with the service I get from them. But, honestly, I try to ignore the FB page due to weird nonsense like this. There's a very unhealthy, bordering bullying, vibe going on - nearly every post gets leapt on by a small group of customers who seem to think they've been given the role of Head Girl and that they'll get to be Hira's bestie if they enforce the rules and repeat the same old clichés (eg you need to... check your tdee, read the featured posts, drink 3litres of water, eat more, etc, etc). They're not even mods. It's embarrassing.

@NorthFaceofthelaundrypile
It's a really good pharmacy, honest, with excellent customer service, and very patient-led maintenance. And definitely not a pyramid selling scheme 😅. But for some reason, the FB page seems to harbour some proper loons. Easy enough to avoid though as all offers, etc are also shared by email if you can't face scrolling through all the ❤️and 💩 emojis.

They are a reasonable pharmacy, the delivery options being their main appeal for me - the groupies are sometimes entertaining in their ridiculousness, so much that @BelowPurpleApple post feels like a piss take, or they are an inexperienced MN user who doesn't understand extreme gushing doesn't really sit well in MN and is more likely to have a negative effect.

Personal feeling is the groupies and their inexperience are a turn off and will be their eventual downfall. They have built a limited customer base based off the groupie vibe and are becoming a bit unstuck by their worshippers vs normal customers (where their growth needs to be) needs.

Worshippers - bereft at a tiktok person getting a code. Leaving negative views and leaving them due to this "hurt" and "betrayal". This was Oushk own fault as they built unrealistic expectations and feed the extreme groupie vibe.

They think they have enough of a worshipper customer base to launch their own protein/collagen product. It is (obviously pink!) over priced for the benefits compared to established brands, even their worshippers won't part with that much money for a lower value/quality product just for a pink label!

Normal users - they are proclaiming a discreet service (which should be a no brainer for any prescription medication supplier whose main online presence is WLI) on their webpage then creating branded non-discreet packing was a shockingly unprofessional move. Normal users seriously put off by the hall monitors who think oushk can do no wrong and denying cold hard fact that this is an issue for many.

I can ignore the tiktok nonsense as it doesn't impact my, but I'll be leaving after my 2 back orders that I have paid for are delivered if they continue to deliver in branded packaging as it will show they do not understand the business they are in and I will try to find somewhere more professional for the long term/maintenance when I get there.

NorthFaceofthelaundrypile · 28/01/2025 12:36

@KrankyKumquat - thank you for the extra insight!
I will try and book a consultation now.

IrisPallida · 28/01/2025 12:37

So, the toe-curlingly awful and embarrassing Oushk facebook panto show attempts to make another playground on MN.

Loon away, childers. The rest of us will carry on cringing in disbelief and choose a proper adult pharmacy for maintenance.

Cloud groupies are even worse to be honest. Cringe!

their tiktokers are ultimate bullies from what I have seen and always involved in all sorts of drama. The only reason you don’t see much of it on Facebook now is because their Facebook got shut down - it was a place of nonsense

I had a consultation with Oushk a few weeks ago and have gone for their maintenance plan as I'm now a 22.5 BMI

She said ' please do join our Facebook group!'

Err no thank you I thought to myself Grin

Honestly the cringe is real with some of this. I also saw the release of the protein powder. Fifty quid! FIFTY QUID! For some powder with added collagen

KrankyKumquat · 28/01/2025 13:17

Does anyone remember the posts on here from OushkSmousk or something like that? He/she would jump in when ever Oushk was mentioned, totally running the company down? It was very odd, they never disclosed any personal information at all, not even who they were prescribed by. I reckoned it was a competitor's attempt to control the narrative but it was hugely ineffective as they always got called out for, basically, being a bit of a twat.
Wonder if @BelowPurpleApple is part of the same psych-ops team 😅

Herewegoagainandagainandagain · 28/01/2025 13:23

@KrankyKumquat OushkSmousk was the polar opposite of BelowPurpleApple but equally ridiculous🤣

I doubt they were a competitor as genuinely don't think Oushk is mentioned any more than other providers, especially the bigger ones, and they are not the most serious competitor to anyone. They were likely just triggered by the peachy pinkness.

I agree with this.

I am very satisfied with Oushk, the service is good, they are responsive to queries, allow you to specify a delivery day, prices are reasonable, they have a good maintenance policy and don't have a referral scheme.

However the gushing posts and the fan-girling is VERY off putting. It makes potential new customers suspicious too.

The branded packaging is putting me off too. They really need to consider their market and ensure they don't start to be derailed by the cult members.

WorriedRelative · 28/01/2025 13:45

Oh and it puts me off recommending Oushk because I don't want people to think I'm one of those cult members. I find myself almost apologising when I recommend them.

IrisPallida · 28/01/2025 14:19

The Oushk cult extends itself well out of that facebook group as well.

I know anyone can say anything on the internet, but one well-known member of the Reddit MJ forums received abusive messages, death threats and even referrals to Reddit Suicide Prevention after posting about - wait for it - receiving a delayed pen in the post from Oushk.

TheWildRoseBear · 28/01/2025 14:28

It is a true shame that people are ruining their business by being so attached. Hira is genuinely caring and there is no denying that but maybe it’s all down to the fact that these patients are being heard for the first time by a health care professional which just opens another can of worms.

most of our lives we have been told we are lazy and this is why we are obese. So to have someone in a position who almost fights for your case saying obesity is more than not eating correctly and not moving then it’s a new approach for many and maybe that is why they feel so protective about Oushk.

BatChops · 28/01/2025 14:41

@Herewegoagainandagainandagain ha, must have!

Is it any better do we think than my protein powder that I thought was quite pricey at £20?

Just feels like a whole lot of cashing in tbh and I'm all for businesses capitalising where they can but they're relying on their facebook super fans to shift this protein powder for them as they're not widely known outside of prescribing mounjaro to those who may struggle to get it elsewhere.

I've always been happy with my previous provider - just unfortunately they will no longer prescribe to me now
