Increasing my protein intake

Wondering if anyone had any tips on getting more protein into my diet while remaining calorie deficit?

Unless I’m missing something, I think the only way to meet my daily target (about 100g) would be to eat lean meat and vegetables every meal (which will get a bit dull and so not sustainable long term) or drink protein shakes (which I tried yesterday and made me want to 🤢) .

I try to get protein into every meal/snack, but still not getting there most days. Typical non meat meals feature eggs, lentils, cottage cheese, and snacks are very nut heavy.

Any tips??

A bit less at the weekend, more like 80g and 1700 cals, 25g fibre.

Saturday:

Two crumpets, cheese, marmite, butter (carefully!)
Caffe latte

Toasted rye sourdough with mushroom pate, mushrooms, truffle oil (yes, I like mushrooms) egg, but of grated cheese, celery, cucumber.

Sea bass fillet with herbs and lemon, lentil ragout, broccoli, carrots.

Glass of prosecco with limoncello in, Wispa gold.

Sunday:

Bacon butty and caffe latte, banana

Same lunch as Saturday. It was really nice.

Sausage and veg casserole, baby potatoes.

Snack - Tea with milk and one sugar, rich tea biscuits

Just wanted to comment and say: Yummmm!!!!
The sea bass dish sounds especially good.

Where have you got that you need 100g of protein a day? Do you weigh around 130 - 140kg or are you a competitive body builder?

Hmm.

I increase my protein by sneaking quark or fat free Greek yogurt into sauces, scrambled eggs, "creamed" spinach or defrosted berries and kefir.
Also by wrapping a fillet of fish in tinfoil and air frying it for 10 minutes. (sprinkled with chopped almonds, herbs and slices of lemon if I'm feeling enthusiastic)
Sometimes when I just can't be bothered coming up with anything else and don't have many calories left I plonk a tin of tuna (the brine or spring water kind) onto a plate, sprinkle with organic live cider vinegar some green nori sprinkles and either kimchi or sauerkraut to make a very half arsed salad.

I still have to eat the nicest food I can for the limited calories!

I have started experimenting with making protein smoothies with a little frozen fruit, Greek yogurt, chia seeds and cashew nuts… absolutely yum.

The protein powder specially designed for women with the vanilla flavour is delicious.

Im having a couple of these a week as they are so nice!

I mix cottage cheese into eggs to scramble
Greek yoghurt
Smoothie with frozen berries, vanilla protein powder and milk/kefir/yoghurt, sometimes add some flaxseed
Snack on light babybel, ham, tuna etc

I am getting around 69g a day which according to my fitness pal is my target.

i have tried a few things - protein yoghurt for breakfast is a good start. I usually have chicken for dinner and vegetable soup for lunch.

I would struggle to get 100g - are you sure you need that much?

Huel Black ingredients example: Pea Protein, Ground Flaxseed, Brown Rice Protein, Tapioca Flour, Sunflower Oil Powder, Cocoa Powder, Natural Flavors, Coconut Sugar, Medium-Chain Triglyceride Powder (from Coconut), Potassium Citrate, Potassium Chloride, Xanthan Gum, Calcium Carbonate, Corn Starch, Steviol Glycosides, Green Tea Extract Powder, L-Ascorbic Acid, Sodium Chloride, Kombucha Powder, Menaquinone-7, Bacillus Coagulans MTCC 5856, Lutein, Lycopene, Retinyl Acetate, Niacinamide, Cyanocobalamin, Calcium-D-Pantothenate, Ergocalciferol, Plant-Derived Cholecalciferol, Zeaxanthin, Potassium Iodide, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Riboflavin, Thiamin Mononitrate, Calcium-L-Methylfolate.

Nuts are a whole food…personally I’d stick with those! There’s fat in Huel too, and Stevia can be associated with stomach issues..

I eat 40-50 grams of protein every day, it's the majority of my 800 calories

Orangesandlemons77 · 16/02/2025 14:29

I like these shakes, have some flaxseeds in them also for fibre. I think the other one mentioned for women might be called Pure Soul?

The fast 800 shakes are also nice.
