is one better than the others, give you more or less symptoms , more or less suppression…

I did my first jab on Tuesday and the suppression has completely gone today ( Saturday)

I always jab my stomach as there is no chance of hitting a muscle or vein. Never tried anything else so it is hard to tell what works best.

SilenceInside · 18/01/2025 18:13

I've always done stomach, as I've got plenty of flab and no danger of being anywhere near any muscle!

It's very normal for the effects to wear off over the week. The amount in your system builds up each time you inject, so you should find that the effects last longer each time.

jeanclaude · 18/01/2025 18:16

First week was last week and I injected into my thigh. Second dose has gone in my belly - will let you know if any difference but it's not meant to make one.

Mittens67 · 18/01/2025 18:17

Thighs just because it feels easiest. There is no clinical research that I am aware of which shows evidence that some injection sites cause better absorption so stronger effect.

ArchMemory · 18/01/2025 18:20

Stomach. I’ve injected there before (blood thinners in pregnancy) so I was familiar with that. I also make a note of area (my right, my left, top, bottom) so I’m not injecting the same area consecutive weeks. Make sure you’re not too near the belly button.

Fedupandstressed · 18/01/2025 18:28

I go round in a circle on my tummy. Tried once in my thigh and it really stung.

TheHoneyMonster82 · 18/01/2025 18:30

What? We’re meant to avoid muscles? That passed me by and I’ve been on it for five months. I’m now a healthy bmi and have solid muscle thighs and always inject there. Somehow going for a solid bit feels less ick than a flabby bit.

PermanentTemporary · 18/01/2025 18:33

Thigh. I can never imagine anything getting through my stomach, there's a lot there.

SilenceInside · 18/01/2025 18:33

@TheHoneyMonster82 it's a subcutaneous injection, rather than intramuscular. The needle is only 4mm so it's not going to actually go into muscle even if you do it on an area with less fat coverage.

housemaus · 18/01/2025 18:38

I've only done thigh so far, but only because the idea of doing it in my stomach makes me feel a bit weird for some reason!

Same.

Bananaramram · 18/01/2025 18:43

I injected on the top of my thigh. First time, and it’s only been three hours so no idea re side effects yet but I’ve noticed more people without side effects jabbed the thigh.

Yeah think I’ll do mine this time in the tummy on Tuesday —

I did thigh for ages but I was ending up bruised really badly so I moved over to stomach. I still bruise, but it’s not as noticeable. My legs were starting to look like something out of trainspotting

WeAllHaveWings · 18/01/2025 19:53

clinicaltrials.gov/study/NCT04050670?tab=results

Stomach is supposed to be the more effective/absorbed, but changing to thigh can reduce side effects (I assume as less effective/absorbed)

Arm I personally wouldn't even try as I pinch to inject and couldn't do that with my arm.

It's a subcutaneous injection so muscle should be avoided.

This from Eli Lilly is useful, especially for anyone using 6mm-8mm needles and or areas with less subcutaneous fat/now skinnier.

Thigh, I sit down, pinch an inch so I don’t hit muscle, and inject into the pinched area.

i used to do my stomach but started getting injection site reactions, and it was better to get them on the thigh, as I could dress so clothing wasn’t rubbing up against it tight, they are tailing off now though,so that’s good.

Thanks! I have 4mm needles so it has been ok.

Mittens67 · 19/01/2025 10:17

As the needles are so short nobody will hit muscle. I’m a retired nurse who used to give regular intramuscular injections and the needles needed are much longer.

Doggymummar · 19/01/2025 10:21

Stomach, I couldn't pinch any skin on my thigh to make a roll and inject I don't think. Whereas there's plenty on my front. When I say stomach I mean the vast amount of flab below my boobs and above my pubic region.

stopringingme · 19/01/2025 12:40

I injected in my stomach the first week but had side effects.

I decided to try in the thigh the next week and had no side effects, so I have carried on injecting there.

I may try the stomach again at a later date.

QueenOfHiraeth · 19/01/2025 13:14

I usually do my stomach, been on it for over 6 months and lost almost 4 stone so that works for me.
I did on one occasion inject my thigh but it felt a bit more uncomfortable and it was as though I'd injected water, that week was an uphill battle! Went back to tummy the week after and normal service was resumed Grin
I have tried my arm a couple of times, having seen people on TikTok saying it was amazing, but found it harder to manage and no significant improvement on stomach

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 19/01/2025 18:15

Arm jabber here! Definitely get the best suppression there, closely followed by belly and finally thigh.

BTW, those of you pinching, you do know you don’t need to right?

TheChosenTwo · 19/01/2025 20:07

I’ve only ever done stomach so can’t really offer any advice or insight. I don’t pinch, what do the pinchers pinch for? I just find an area on the opposite side as last week and stab away!
muscle is way deeper than the subcutaneous fat, no chance of hitting any in my stomach. With the thighs, do you just aim at the sides or underneath?

My thighs are quite slim and strong. If I’m standing up I can’t pinch, So I sit down as said, as it pushes the fat up and then I can pinch and ensure I inject into the fat.

my stomach is a different matter…😂
