Be proud of us all.

We conquered our first Christmas and many of us sts or lost. Which is a first.

Those who gained it was 1-2lbs (minus the lady who ate her family and gained 18lbs) 😂😂 and the gain has come off

So to a new 2025 - some are getting near their goal and thinking about maintenance

Some still have a way to go to get to their happy weight

Some are on the highest dose of 15

Some are 5 and below

Everyone welcome

'my bab' has always been used by the elder women in our family - my Nan and great nan were from Devon Im Somerset. I know Bristol use bab and babber too

Azuresky68 · 30/01/2025 08:02

Congratulations @owlybooon getting to your goal. You must feel amazing! I hope you stay with us through maintenance too. What are the best things about reaching your goal? Have you struggled with weight over the years or was it a more recent thing. I know you will have posted this info before but my memory isn't great these days. Now you are at goal are there clothes you want to wear that you wouldn't have worn before? Happy days being at your goal 💐

Azuresky68 · 30/01/2025 08:09

Today is jab day for me.1st official 12 5 from 12 5.pen, although I have done 3 x 12.5 from 10 pen. After 4 weeks on 12.5 mg I am going to start titrating down as discussed on my maintenance consultation with Hira. I am struggling to get my last 4 pounds off, which probably won't make me look any different but it's my goal. I might even go a couple of pounds under so I am under 9 stone...top of my healthy BMI is 8 stone 11 but my personal goal is 9 stone. Wonder if I can get there in 4 weeks..not looking promising. My new weigh day is Saturday but I keep having sneaky weighs 😬

AuntieDote · 30/01/2025 09:23

Well done @owlyboo , what an achievement you must feel amazing!

@Blondeshavemorefun hope you’re feeling a little better today! You asked what my bad side effects were - D&V mostly, once I went to 5 and then up it became at least a weekly, if not daily thing. Ruined so many things eg missed my work Christmas party, special Santa train with DD I went but I spend the whole time worrying I was going to poo myself! Holiday with my friend just 4 nights away; spent 2 of them on the loo throwing up into the sink! I was always absolutely fine on 2.5 but since I’ve started again I did get a little glimmer of it with a dodgy tummy one day, but thankfully it passed pretty quickly.

Welcome @whethertheweather

Well I did it - despite what I said above - and jabbed 3.75 last night - will probably be fine today and start regretting this decision tomorrow when my stomach kicks off! I just want to make some bloody progress at least in getting the few pounds I gained back off, and then hopefully get a bit closer to goal.

PoemsForTea · 30/01/2025 09:55

Welcome whethertheweather 🙂

Weigh day for me and 1lb off again. Considering I drank (too much) over the weekend as had unexpected flood stranded guests to stay, and then Italian meal for husbands birthday on Monday, I am well chuffed! Every single bite of the biscoff cheesecake was bloody lovely 😆

whethertheweather · 30/01/2025 10:05

@Blondeshavemorefun and all. Thanks for the welcome. The very few times in the past I have stuck my head above the parapet and contributed to threads it usually seems like I've used a kill switch!

I usually jab on a Saturday afternoon or evening. I can eat normally on a Saturday night, but then avoid food until about 2 or 3pm on Sunday. Trial and error shows that eating in the morning on a Sunday is the big no no for me.

@PoemsForTea I bloody love a Biscoff cheesecake too

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/01/2025 10:59

@Azuresky68 do you WWJ or just J today

@Weepixiesounds a plan. There is an app where people put their area and it tells you what is central

thanks @owlyboo and @AuntieDote. Hope the higher dose doesn’t give you effects

I’m so so. Not back to my bouncy self but feeling better

not that hungry but forced sone porridge down me this am

and will try spag bol tonight

I can eat a chocolate bar tho. No problem

suppression hasn’t stopped that and I don’t really like /do chocolate so 🙄

@Azuresky68 eating out is one of my pleasures, I still do it but I've changed what / how I eat. I pretty much never have a pudding. I often have 2 starters - they're lighter, have protein but less stodge. Or if we're just having a main, I sometimes have a starter with a side of veg or fries. I also don't feel bad if I leave stuff on my plate. I used to think it was rude to the chef, now I eat what I want, say how delicious it was, and joke that they should do half portions! I sometimes want some fries - oh the deliciousness of those first few cripsy hot ones. But I'm happy to stop after just a few, and I notice that actually as they cool down, they are not so wonderful after all.

@weaseleyes wise words about emotional eating, thanks for that post. When I was a teenager, weekend mornings my Dad would bring me coffee in bed, with 2 chocolate digestives, and a new Agatha Christie book to read. Coffee and biscuits in bed still makes me feel loved and cared for.

@owlyboo fantastic! And great mindset.

@whethertheweather I'm a September starter but these August threads had so much information that I keep coming here. The September ones are rather quiet...

@Blondeshavemorefun hope you manage to eat today.

Azuresky68 · 30/01/2025 11:11

@Blondeshavemorefunthe app sounds great. What's it called please?
Hope you have a good day today and back to your wonderful self soon.
Jab today and seem to have changed my weigh day to Saturday...I am a bit flexible about weighing and sometimes stretch my jab day to 8 days. Still high suppression on 12 5 but am more tempted by starchy sweet foods...a definite no no at the moment. The weight loss now is sooo slow!!

Azuresky68 · 30/01/2025 11:30

@20bloodypounds yes I agree regarding eating out. I never have puddings even when I went on an all inclusive holiday. Puddings, cakes and ice cream used to be my downfall but too many calories and not filling enough!

weaselyeyes · 30/01/2025 12:44

What a lovely memory of your dad @20bloodypounds. I have a similar one from when I was a young child and he'd bring me toast and marmite in bed at weekends - still my most comforting food ever. We'd then go shopping and he'd buy me a book every week, because he never had any when he was growing up. They were usually puffin paperbacks, which I think started out at 2s6p, but then went up shockingly after decimalisation to 17.5p. (Ages self horribly.)

owlyboo · 30/01/2025 12:48

@Azuresky68 I'm definitely staying. Not quite at maintenance yet as I've decided I'd like to lose around another half a stone. (But only if it comes off doing what I have already been doing won't be cutting calories etc. to get there!) also will stay to celebrate everyone else's milestones!

Best thing is definitely feeling more confident in myself and in clothes etc. weirdly the clothes I wear now I haven't for years are jeans. 'Jeans and a nice top' looked awful on me bigger.

I maintained a healthy weight through diet and exercise pretty much my whole life (pregnancies etc obviously gained but lost again) but then covid hit and I could do my usual routine of gym etc and I slowly started to put on the weight and after Covid i had a tricky through years at home resulting in a divorce a year and a half ago. Then in August I decided enough was enough!

I hope your pesky four pounds come off soon!!

Thanks @AuntieDote

Well done @PoemsForTea

😂 @whethertheweather we won't disappear on you!

No strangely @Blondeshavemorefun I had worse effects of 12.5 been fine in 15. If you're not getting much in maybe just have the chocolate for some calories might help you feel a bit better.

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/01/2025 14:09

That’s a lovely memory. I love reading and usually read in bed before bed but so tired at the moment don’t.

bed is for sleep

and for sex

but none of that so sleep it is - or not - as not sleeping that well. It’s on and off. Can’t have a great night. Then awful

@20bloodypounds we are def chattier then most months 😂 and full of useful /useless info as well 😂

@Azuresky68 I’ve asked a friend for the app name. I want sone suppression but I don’t want to feel how did the other day. That was awful and the 4 💩💩💩💩

@owlybooglad you are staying

I think that’s maybe why some threads are so quiet. As people are yes yes I’m doing this

ive said before, we’ve had so many in august that we never hear from

would love to know how they are

did they stop as wasn’t working , too costly , gave up, reached target as only say 2s or didn’t like us 🙀🙀🥲🥲

Super Bowl Cheer GIF by Unlimited Moves

Hello 👋
Welcome @whethertheweather 😊

@AuntieDote I'm saying a prayer for your 3.75 jab and tummy 😬

@Blondeshavemorefun how are you feeling, you 15mg lightweight lol 😆 😂 I forgot to reply to your just jab 5mg, I'd be flat, and with you guys big doses I'd be pan breed 😂

@weaselyeyes your words of wisdom as always hit the spot.

@20bloodypounds that is such a lovely memory, 😍

I need to go back to Sunday and re read properly.

But not before this to @owlyboo congratulations you wee gorgeous woman!! I feel like a cheerleader with my pom poms shimmying wooohooooo.

NippyNinjaCrab · 30/01/2025 19:53

Ps I feel I've been way off track since Sunday so I need to get back on the energetic walks again. Xx

NippyNinjaCrab · 30/01/2025 19:55

Pps @Azuresky68 yes! Ice cream, that's one thing I cannot have at all! I love it, any flavour just a tub or a nice bowl, it's my downfall definitely and on a holiday i cannot go to the sweet section. X

owlyboo · 30/01/2025 19:59

Thanks @NippyNinjaCrab ! Love my little cheerleader celebration! Ive also been way off with my walking this week! The rain has put a hold on both walking and couch to 5k. After I feel over in the ice it's made me more wary of just going out in any weather 😂 hopefully the weather is better next week.

Fancied a fizzy pop today (used to drink loads pre MJ and have gone right off fizzy but suddenly fancied one today so had one... big mistake! Threw it up 30 mins later! All of it... 🤢🤢

AuntieDote · 30/01/2025 20:23

Oh my word, I’m just back from a gym class. So this gym is really just classes - there’s all sorts of HIIT and serious weights stuff downstairs, then upstairs is more Pilates, yoga, stretch and tone type stuff.

So fair I’ve been doing the upstairs ones - some are tough but the kind of tough I can cope with - push myself and really feel it the next day, but I’m capable of getting myself home and they don’t make me throw up! Tonight I tried one downstairs that one of the trainers talked me into saying it really just focused on strength, technique lifting weights, was quite chill compared to the others etc etc. Fuck me if that was chill then the others would actually land me in hospital I think! I don’t know how I stopped myself throwing up (still might), I had to sit in my car for 20 minutes before I felt like I had it together enough to drive home and every single gear change/ turn of the steering wheel was painful - I don’t think I’ll be able to move tomorrow.

Back to the upstairs classes I go!

I started these as I got a reduced rate on special offer, first month was mega cheap, this month and next are manageable then at the end of Feb it’s back up to the usual extortionate price so I will have to move on and find another more budget friendly option. I would like some kind of weights/ strength training or really just any kind of class that doesn’t start you off at level 100 but actually teaches you the different skills/ movements and then lets you build up - they all say they are for any ability and you can adapt them but it’s pretty much always a lie.

Yikes, hearing this makes me absolutely terrified about the 6 week strength training course I've roped myself into from 10th Feb. I had all the warnings - the very efficient saleswoman said in passing "you will ache the next day" that I now realise is code for "make up a bed on the sofa as you'll not be able drag your arse upstairs", but I blithely carried on signing up. WHY!! Hope you've got the Radox in or someone to rub linament.....

@owlyboo I have ambitions for couch to 5k. I have been diligently researching it for at least 2 years without actually taking the next step and strapping on some trainers. There is now 3 stone less of me to cart around however, so maybe it's time. How have you found it?

20bloodypounds · 30/01/2025 21:05

Oh No @AuntieDote that sounds brutal. I went to our gym once and asked for instruction on using the weights machines. I'd been unwell for about a year previously so needed something gradual to build up my stamina and strength. The PT just didn't get it and sort of stomped off eventually saying "Well if you don't want to put the work in..." Where I live everything is either extreme bootcamp with someone shouting at you, or over-50s seated movement class with the blue-rinse brigade. There were some great Tai Chi classes, but the instructor moved away and I haven't yet found anything else I really like. I often walk to the shops and carry my shopping home in my rucksack, I think that counts as weight training Grin (especially if there's a couple of bottle of wine in there!)

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/01/2025 21:07

Oh no @owlyboo. Too fizzy. Sugary ?

I can’t drink Pepsi max since preg with dd

too sweet

poor you @AuntieDote

owlyboo · 30/01/2025 21:11

Oh no @AuntieDote !! Maybe back to upstairs and build up to it a bit more 😳 sounds brutal!

@whethertheweather I've found it fine but I haven't started week two yet this week as the weather has been AWFUL! so hoping to get back to it this weekend/next week. Go for it. The nhs app one is good as you can pick who's speaking and have your own music playing at the same time.

@Blondeshavemorefun not sugar as was a Coke Zero... but probably the fizz. Body just not used to it. Felt fine after chucking up!

weaselyeyes · 30/01/2025 21:23

Blimey, it's all brutality and vomit in here today! Some of us having been having a more laid back time of it, thankfully!

I planted my celebrating-reaching-10.5-stone hedge saplings today, which was cold but gratifying. This evening whilst doing the shopping I idly eyed up some jeans in Sainsbury's, mainly sparked by a thread on MN extolling their virtues and cheapness. I haven't worn jeans for years, opting for elastic waisted smart jogger type things to accommodate my endless weight fluctuations (now held up with a belt, a prayer and full of holes). My daughter nicked my jeans and I didn't fight her for them as I couldn't fit into them! Anyway, I saw a short leg (hard to find), relaxed fit pair for SIX POUNDS, so thought it was worth making an aspirational purchase so I could aim to get into them when I'm nearer to target. I got them home and they actually fit! Ladies, they're a size 12 - this is astonishing to me!

Now, I must issue a few caveats. I had to wiggle into them somewhat - largely manoeuvring the flappy apron of wrinkled doom so I could get them on. Then I have to say they don't actually look fabulous - due to the flabby apron of wrinkled doom being somewhat apparent. However, they'd be quite respectable with a longer top, and I hope the apron might diminish a little so that I look less like I'm trying to shoplift a draught excluder. So I may not wear them quite yet, but it's nice to know I could.

Shoplifting a draught excluder though snorts 😂

I thought velcro fanny flaps was good. I love this thread!
