Slowly stepping up doses and feel so unwell on 8.75

This is all done with the permission of my prescriber.

I had very few side effects on 2.5mg, and so after two months when I wasn't finding it as impactful we agreed I'd step up to 3.75

I tend to stick to each "normal" dose for two months and then the step up dose for a month.

I took my first 8.75 on Tuesday and I just feel awful. I feel sick, I've barely eaten today (an apple and a protein coffee), my head hurts, I feel weak, I'm going hot and cold.

What on earth do i do???

Op, I really think this so called Dr is just a chancer.

Whats worrying you about going it alone?

Snozzlemaid · 10/01/2025 18:09

Wow. You are being ripped off and given advice that goes against the prescribing rules for this medication.
No genuine prescriber would advise you take anything other than the correct dose for each pen.

Take a look here at the genuine registered pharmacies you can buy it from a lot cheaper. https://monj.co.uk

What a charlatan.

If you have genuine concerns about the service he’s selling you can report him to the GMC.

They're a private doctor near me, I don't want to name them because it's very outing

You are protecting the wrong person here.

I think it just seems so overwhelming, having no support.

I did manage most of my dinner, even though that was just a pizza wrap. Better than nothing

It's not no support though, all prescribers will be contactable via messaging. Some offer coaching too if you want that level of interaction. Still likely to be cheaper than this doctor chap.

Gettingslimmer · 10/01/2025 20:23

Op, many suppliers offer monthly coaching etc. I’m not sure what you find overwhelming, but you can get this. As said. Oushk is one popular on here.

can you explain what you’re finding overwhelming?

Pashazade · 10/01/2025 20:24

OP I was 222lbs when I started. You've done really well so far but you don't need this pushy kind of support. Join one of the mounjaro threads, maybe one that matches the month you started. You'll find lots of ladies in a similar place to you who will be happy to help you find your way forward. You're definitely being ripped off. I started in September and I am still only on 5mg. I haven't needed to go higher. If I had medical concerns I could contact a doctor via the Asda pharmacy page. They offer plenty of support but blood tests are way over the top and the push to get you to increase just isn't necessary assuming you are still losing.

Snatherwang · 11/01/2025 11:44

I’m also not sure telling you to ‘go elsewhere if you don’t agree with my dosing schedule’ is support….

LostGhost · 11/01/2025 16:18

If 7.5 was working you didn't need to move up. I'm going into my 5th month on 7.5

I'd also say you're being ripped off. I'm with Cloud who aren't the cheapest but I paid £155 for my 7.5

My understanding is you should only move up after two things are no longer happening

  1. You have no surpression
  2. you're not losing weight.

If you are feeling surpressed and are losing weight you can stay where you are.

Also are you double dosing a 7.5 (a full dose plus extra?) or short dosing a 10mg pen? Either way it's an expensive way of doing it.
