Is there any point if I can only afford a few months

I have about 5 stone to lose - pretty daunting. I have started trying to make some changes whilst I consider injections with the idea that I would need to change habits long term.

Realistically I could only afford a few months medication so would need to treat injections as a boost whilst I start exercising and changing diet.

Would there be any point in this? I’ve tried reading and can’t decide.

Kick starting things sounds like a good idea - progress can be so difficult and slow you should take all the help you can get

This happens to me whenever I loose weight! I don't think I look that much difference in the mirror, but suddenly all my friends seem bigger! The airplane seats feel bigger and it's a bit like being in Alice in wonder land where my environment seems to have grown rather than me shrinking!!

I don't know how many times over the years ' I wish I could just throw money at this'. And now I can. Like you I don't plan to be on it long term but if I can shift the worst of it I'm hoping I can maintain without the injection s

Well done on the 2 stone loss @Bringon2025!
you must be thrilled. I’m sure it’s making a really positive impact on your children too as you probably are fitter and have more stamina with them.
I’m 2 months in and a stone and a half down and it has been well worth the money for me. I’ve been buying smaller clothes on Vinted, there are a lot of things I’d sacrifice financially before giving up the mounjaro which I calculate as costing me £25 a week. I already buy own brand food/ cleaning products etc but am considering selling some of my daughter’s untouched party dresses and fancy dress costumes work for 1 day on Vinted

Brilliant! Can I ask did you experience any sickness side effects - this is the thing that is putting me off as have phobia of being sick!

Jenasaurus · 26/03/2025 16:46

I started in October at 13 stone 10 and my BMI was 33. I am now 11 stone 5 and my BMI is 27. I can fit a size 12 and look OK. Not a fast loser but consistently losing a pound a week. My goal is 9 stone so a way to go but I know I won’t feel deprived on the injections like I would when I was following extreme diets like keto. I’m probably on it for life as diabetic though x

I don’t regret the money spent so far, I feel great. I haven’t noticeably saved money although I have bought a few things to wear and have spent less than normal. I will probably do another month or so.

@tillyandmilly side effects not bad, slight nausea a day after each injection. Day after upping dose each time felt horrible but wasn’t actually sick. Have ditched salt because that made me feel like I was going to be sick straight away.

3 months, maybe 4.

I’ve lost nearly 4 stone in under 5 months. It’s made a huge difference to every part of my life. I’d say do it and use the time to understand how you became overweight in the first place. I have a far better awareness of my own self sabotaging now.

Amazing OP!

Please TRY to stretch it out another couple of months. The more headway you can make whilst on the medication the better chance you have at continuing the weight loss.

Lose the crisp habit now, I managed this by having pickled onions, olives, pistachios and cashews as substitutes- you get the savoury hit without the crap.

You can really do this 💪🏼
