Hi all! Sorry was all over the place last week. Checking in day for me today and … I’m at 30 BMI, woop woop!

I’ve had a nice and steady 2lbs per week for the last two weeks which has been nice, officially on the SheMed app its 0 last week and -4lbs this week but that’s just because I couldn’t do my check in at the normal time last week.

But this week I am now officially ;) under 13st (yay new stone bracket!) and officially bang on 30 bmi, and because my morning check in is always 2lbs lighter than the official weigh in (no clothes and phone in hand!) I’m taking the win that I’m under 30 BMI, because I am, for about 5 mins until I put clothes on. 😜.

So congrats to me I’m now officially Overweight (a chub chub) 😂, but given I started as Morbidly Obese (a big fatty chub chub) , then dropped to Obese (fat & chubby) now being Overweight is win. (I’m calling myself all these names people! No one else! Don’t come at me 😂! )

So say it with me yay ! Chub chub!

GoldLeader · 18/07/2025 10:40

Also for the other bits-
I got an email saying the blood test was coming up but then heard nothing, presume it might be triggered now I’ve jabbed?

last week was first dose of 10mg for me, feels no different to moving up as before tbh. For me the only side effect in 6 months has been coldness. The intense chill at previously normal temperatures, which is resolved by extra clothes/ heating up. But it’s been a while since it’s been an issue.

question for others- how are people getting rid of the pens? I have been keeping all these finished pens in the fridge tbh, and now I’ve just got a giant stack of them, don’t really want to throw them in the bin, has anyone tried any of the recycling options at pharmacies yet?

My goal on my nhs app has always been 24 bmi, totally arbitrary, it’s just what I put in there over a decade ago (longer?) when I downloaded the app. At the beginning of this I thought that was a pipe dream but it’s been the aim, it’ll get me to a ‘healthy’ bmi but I don’t need to go lower. I think that’s between 10st and 10st 5lbs (I’m between hight’s ).

Next mini goal for me is 12st 7lbs. That will be 5stone loss. I’m currently at 12.10 in the morning and 12.12 officially. So will take a couple of weeks but will be a great mile stone!

(Although I’m currently at 29.5 kgs lost, I don’t really use kgs in life, but I might take a mini win next week of 30kg loss if I can loose 0.5lbs!) 😅

congrats all!

travelforthesoul · 18/07/2025 13:56

well done!

Im down a lb this week, which I thought was good considering that I have had many many ice creams over the past couple of weeks. Im steady and I feel good about this, clothes in smaller sizes are fitting and my usual clothes are far too big, its huge wins.

My she med doesnt tell me my BMI, so I will go and calculate it, just to see

LazyArsedMagician · 18/07/2025 21:02

Haven't checked in for about a month so thought I'd come back!

I was a bit dejected last time as the scales were being stubborn, I was plateauing at still 90kg/33.5BMI. I was convinced my next pen would be at 10mg but I've been continued at 7.5mg which is fine.

BEST news though - the plateau seems to have shifted, and the scales are going down again! I weighed in at 87.5kg last week and am pretty certain I'll be down another kg or so at tomorrow's weigh in.

I've also had an email from SheMed to say I need to complete another blood test, which honestly I'm quite excited about. So many of my markers were in the red with my first one, I'm hoping a couple of those have moved a little as well.

I still have an entire stone to go before I'm back into the 'overweight' rather than 'obese' category which is a bit depressing, but I'm over the moon with everything so far. I just look like a plump mum now, rather than a really really fat woman. I mentioned non-scale victories before - but I hadn't realised my bloody EARLOBES had got so fat they were sticking out! They aren't anymore!

I'm also only 7lb away from my pre-pregnancy weight....PS that was nearly 17 years ago <cringe>!

Start weight: 108kg
Current weight: 87.5kg
Goal weight: 60ish kg
Height:164cm
Age: 42
Shots taken: 25ish?

BestDIL · 21/07/2025 10:53

Sounds like everyone is going well. Well done on all your mini victories. My next one is another 3.8lbs away but that will mean 5st loss (3st from MJ, 1st from SlimPod and 1st from Orlistat).

Big party this weekend, celebrating my 60th which was two weeks ago and my son's 21st which is the end of August. 24 family members descending on us which will be the first time we have got everyone together for at least 10 years. I'm so looking forward to it. Hubby is BBQing - he says he's happy doing it as it means he doesn't have to talk to everyone 😂

I took my blood test last week. It's such a nightmare for me, my body doesn't like parting with blood and after 10 minutes there was only a small amount collected so they sent me another kit! However, the results came in late on Saturday night and it was a full set of results.

My cholesterol is not that good so I have some work to do on that. All the heart markers were in the red but not far into the red so I'm going to look back at the last bloods my GP did and compare. All the other results were firmly in the green which is very good.

Off now to do some shopping to get an outfit for the party. Oh the joy, I can go to normal shops and know I can just pick up my size rather than having to look and then order the "fat" size online!

Have a good week all x

BestDIL · 24/07/2025 14:44

Check in day for me. Only 0.4lbs off which I'm disappointed with. I've been weighing every day for the last two weeks and my weight seems to dip and then go back up on weigh-in day. I've attached pics to show you. Not sure what is causing this but seems strange that the blip is weigh in day!

Congratulations!!!
I too am in a plagued and thought scales moving (they did 1kg last week) but back to staying the same sadly!

So funny you mentioned earlobes… I was just thinking today that mine look saggier than they used to 😆
I am at about my pre-pregnancy weight (107kg) from 13 years ago but I look nothing like I did. Tummy sadly very big still and jelly like currently and cut in half by my new smaller sized tighter shorts 🙄

Not feeling great today to be honest. Very deflated!

It’s been life changing for me. Happy to answer any questions you have. Most of us have been on MJ since January so will be well placed to help.😊

FancyFlapjack · 27/07/2025 13:34

Hey all - I have just signed up to SheMed and am awaiting my blood test kit! Super nervous about it all of a sudden but just hope it finally helps me. I am so self conscious about my weight - like if I have to sit next to someone on the train I only sit on half the seat so they don't feel like the fat woman is encroaching on their space. I have actually purposefully missed my bus stop before as the bus was so full and packed at the front I could not face the thought of having to squeeze past all those people being so big! So excited but nervous too - just hope the blood test goes ok.

Reginaphalangeeeee · 27/07/2025 19:50

Welcome @FancyFlapjack
It's straight forward once you start. I remember well the fear of the first injection and the doubt I felt.
If I could go back in time and post to that version of me inwouod say…
Do it already!!! You will not regret it! It is not like any other attempt you have been through. For me… 4 stone in 6 months-how much you would you pay right now to have that sort of magic with a truly eye opening perspective on your eating habits.
The group will help answer questions and time will show you the way.

Good luck!

BestDIL · 27/07/2025 21:34

@FancyFlapjack welcome from me too!

I started in January and I’ve lost just over 3st. My life has changed beyond belief and I am now happy to share a seat on a bus, sofa, train because although I still have 2st to go, I’m now a 14bottom rather than an 18!

Good luck, don’t worry about the jab, honestly it’s painless but to be honest I’d take a bit of pain for the way I feel now.

SassyPoet · 29/07/2025 20:30

Hey I’m thinking of trying this, do you fulfil the 12 months and do you take this forever to maintain your target weight? Thank you

Yes to 12 months. The future unknown for many of us but I anti ipating needing it forever!!

BestDIL · 29/07/2025 23:45

@SassyPoet. Yes, I have committed to 12 months and am also anticipating being on this forever or for as long as I can afford it. I have been on a constant diet for the last 20 years and can honestly say that this is the first time I have sight of my target weight in all that time. I believe there may be other providers who will be cheaper when I am maintaining but for now the reassurance of the weekly check-ins and the fact that decisions such as dose are made by professionals makes me feel that I am really being looked after by SheMed.

SassyPoet · 30/07/2025 08:46

Thank you both- Do contraceptives get affected as I have a coil fitted- so sorry to ask so many questions x

kittykarate · 30/07/2025 09:22

Hormonal contraceptive can be affected, particularly oral contraceptive. If it's a copper coil you'll be fine.

Ooh, can’t help with this. I had an early menopause in my late 30’s and have been free from pregnancy worries for almost 20 years!

Hi all!

Check-in day for me, nice to see some new peeps joining, welcome!

This week has been a bit of a surprising win. I lost 5lbs this week, which given how far in am seems a bit nuts.

It was my 3rd jab of 10mg last week and while haven’t been having any side affects I definitely felt like general effect of the medication was boosted when I moved up to 10mg. The week before there were moments when I had a cup of tea, then immediately felt full. So I was constantly trying to get some food in me but just stopping feeing ‘full’. Then I lost 2lbs that week and was totally fine with that. This week (3rd week on 10mg) it felt like 10mg had ‘settled’ and I could eat fine and crack on with a full meal. And I have been- proper meals every day! Yet somehow lost 5lbs?!

I have ligit eaten an entire pack of halloumi this week by myself, and cheese is supposed to be a no-go moderation thing. 😂 It’s like it’s catching up from the week before, weird.

Benifit is—-> I’ve reached 5st loss since starting. I’m now ‘officially’ down by 5st 2lbs.

I’ve also started to sell the clothes I bought a couple of months ago after needing new clothes the first time round. Nuts. Started size 20 and bought a bunch at 16/14 now the 16’s are too big and I’m moving to 12s (and 10’s?!)

here’s my graph with the progress. Xx

This is fantastic news. Well done you! 5lbs in a week at this stage is brilliant and to have reached 5st is even better. How much more do you have to go? My goal is 10/12 but that was starting at 20/22. I'm currently 14/16 and have about 2st to go.

I lost 1.8lbs this week which I'm happy with. My weekly average according to Shotsy is 1.7lbs which is nice and steady. I have now done two pens of 10mg and the next one is 10mg too. It took me a few weeks to get over the side effects, I, too couldn't eat but now its better. The food noise has completely disappeared and I think that 10mg might just be my "sweet spot".

GoldLeader · 01/08/2025 17:41

@BestDIL yeah it starting 10mg didn’t feel like I was having side affects just that it was super effective.

my goal is to get to a 24 BMI, to just be officially in a healthy weight range, which I honestly can’t remember ever being, except maybe in my late teens? (Maybe not even then!) I think I need to be 10 st to 10st 5lbs somewhere in that range to be a 24bmi. Which is another 2st ish. Started 17st 7lbs, currently 12st 5lbs. But for only 7 months it seems like it’s flown by!

I’ve always been chubby, not like really big until the last 5-10 years. But I was a solid 27-30 bmi even when I was younger and at the gym loads and eating terribly to try and loose weight . It would be really nice to be a healthy bmi, and done in a healthy way (at least it feels like it’s healthy!) I’m not doing a stupid fad diet, I’m just eating small healthy regular meals, which before I just couldn’t seem to do, I’d get cravings then eat a bunch of crap then starve myself to compensate and repeat!

LazyArsedMagician · 09/08/2025 09:38

So I'm about half way through my year with SheMed. I've lost a lot and am feeling much better, but I can't help feeling disappointed. The good news is that overall, I'm losing just shy of 2lb per week, but I feel like I'm eating so little. Most days I have fruit during the day and one evening meal, which I'm not calorie counting all the time, but I have this week. I'm averaging between 800-1300 calories a day, I'm still in the Obese category, and I'm stalling every other week at the moment. I don't know why my body is holding onto this weight? It is disheartening, but I know if I wasn't on Mounjaro I'd have crashed and burned by now. This alone makes me think I'm going to have to take this for life. It's also difficult to plan meals for a family of five when three are teenage boys and making it suitable for us all!

The above sounds quite pessimistic and depressed - honestly I'm not, it's more a reflection. I was hoping to be closer to 26 kg down after 27 shots but it's been pretty steady. Just annoying that one singular day of snacking on crisps while I gossip with my sister gave me a kg back on 🙄. My Shotsy goal is when I'm down into the overweight category for BMI rather than an actual goal weight!

Start weight: 108kg
Current weight: 84.9kg
Goal weight: 60ish kg
Height:164cm
Age: 42
Shots taken: 25ish?

My SheMed journey
LazyArsedMagician · 09/08/2025 09:43

Oh forgot to mention - had my blood test results back and am pleased that everything is going down. Still alarmingly high for cholesterol (but honestly there's probably a genetic component to that as my mum's is also high and she's not overweight) but I'm officially out of the pre-diabetic stage, although to be fair I was only just in it lol! Was hoping they'd redone the thyroid function but they didn't.

GoldLeader · 11/08/2025 12:50

@LazyArsedMagician im hoping you’re feeling better, you really are doing so well!

And sometimes the faster weight loss isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. My belly and butt seem to have been ok for skin elasticity, but my neck is looking proper like a chicken every morning. Never ever had an issue with that before. Needs glooping with moisturiser before I step out the door every day!

Also I mentioned a while back my boobs were holding out ok, yeah that flipped a couple of weeks ago, they had their own mini whoosh and I’m pretty sure I need to drop a cup size now!

and this week…. It’s bingo wings! The top of my arms look so small and round, but now I have massive flaps underneath 🫣. Honestly I can wave my arms and flap them around it’s ridiculous 😅.

so yeah I’m really hoping I’m given time my skin will figure itself out, but I think my speed on the weight loss isn’t helping.

GoldLeader · 11/08/2025 12:55

Also re the colesterol- I had my work Bupa health assessment just before I started Mounjaro. Like 3 days before. I wanted to make sure everything was ok separately and not rely on SheMed (because I hadn’t been using them yet and hadn’t heard of them!)

and my Bupa health assessment colesterol came back totally fine, but SheMed colesterol came back high. To be honest, I trust Bupa more than SheMed on this.

as far as I’ve seen literally every single person who has taken the SheMed blood test has come back with high colesterol. And I’m not sure that’s real. I get the feeling the SheMed range for ‘high’ is different.
