Where should I start

Hi OP, you can start by looking up "weightloss injections" and reading about them and how they work, then choosing which one to go for. I suggest this article might help get to the point quick enough.

https://onlinedoctor.asda.com/uk/wegovy-vs-mounjaro-vs-ozempic.html

Most here are on Mounjaro though so if you choose to go for it, you can read more about it.

is weight coming back after stoping injections ?
Yes and No. Weightloss injections are used in conjunction with proper diet (and exercise for those who're able to). Simply put, these injections help you to be consistent and stick to a calorie deficit which will help you lose weight. If you stop the injections and continue to stick to a calorie deficit, you will continue to lose weight or maintain your weightloss. If you stop the injections and start consuming more calories than you burn, you will start gaining weight, naturally.

There are other hormonal benefits to these injections which can also affect weightloss or weight gain. If you struggle with metabolic issues, then being on these injections may help 'fix' them which in turn will enable you to lose weight with a calorie deficit. If you come off the injections, your body may or may not work as well as if you were on them so you may or may not gain back some weight. Some people decide to stay on this medication longterm in order to continue treating these issues and maintain their weightloss.

If you decide to go for the injection, you can use this site www.monj.co.uk to find a list of reputable and GPhC-registered pharmacies to buy the injections from. You can buy from any provider from that list.

You can also check out threads on this Weightloss injections board and learn more about other people's weightloss journey, experiences, side effects and benefits. You can join any thread you want particularly December or January starter's thread where you'll find others like yourself who've just started or thinking of starting the weightloss medication.

Different people have different side effects and yes constipation is one of them. You'll just have to prepare for it, especially if you have a tendency to get constipated. Fibre rich foods and fibre supplements will help. Some people swear by Psyllium Husk supplements, there's Laxido, etc. You can also try some laxatives like Dulcolax, Senna, etc for temporary relief if you need it.

You can search for "constipation" in the threads here and different mounjaro UK groups online if you're on them (Facebook, Reddit, etc) and see what has worked for others.

This site has a comparison of reputable and GPhC registered providers.

monj.co.uk

Some companies do a subscription model so check what the deal is before signing up. Some offer additional services like coaching and extra levels of support. The actual medication is exactly the same wherever you get it from.

IMustBeInvisible · 31/12/2024 14:35

@Prammyy You can use well known pharmacies like Asda, Boots, Lloyd's, etc. They aren't the cheapest so if cost is a factor, some will do discount for first time customers. Some of the cheapest providers are Medexpress, IQdoctor, etc.

If you'd like a provider that also offers some sort of support or personal coaching, there's Voy, Numan, Juniper, etc but they're some of the most expensive.

'The best one' depends on what you're looking for but you can switch providers easily even if you choose one now for your first pen. You can check out the site posted already and see which pharmacies are more affordable from 2.5mg which is the starting dose for Mounjaro.

Prammyy · 31/12/2024 14:36

Not much don't need any advice only basic how to start dosage and don't want subscription. Just basic.

OP posts:
IMustBeInvisible · 31/12/2024 14:45

Then I'd just avoid the most expensive ones. Others do basic but are also there to answer any questions or advice on side effects and general guidance if needed at anytime as you're their customer/patient.

Whichever one you choose you'll have to go to their website, start a consultation/assessment online, answer all the questions honestly, give your GP details, provide any ID, pics or videos they require to confirm your weight and identity, then proceed to order. As a first time customer you'll only be able to order 2.5mg which is the starting dose. Pay and wait for your order to be approved. Once approved, they'll send you the confirmation and dispatch your pen. Once you receive it, read the instruction and patient leaflet on how to inject.

Prammyy · 31/12/2024 15:05

Thank you will they advise how and when to increase dosage ?

OP posts:
SilenceInside · 31/12/2024 15:09

The expected dosage schedule is to move up to the next dose after 4 weeks. That's what will be the suggested approach. However, most pharmacies will accept you ordering one level lower, the same dose, or one level higher when you come to order the next pen. I've been on 7.5mg for 3 pens now, and will likely be sticking on 7.5mg for my next order. I could choose to order 5mg or 10mg from my provider if I wanted to. The choice is up to me though.

IMustBeInvisible · 31/12/2024 15:23

@Prammyy
They may send you a reminder email to reorder your next pen but you'll generally need to order the next dosage yourself (the links I posted will help to know what is expected and what dosages are available).

As the pp said, the guidance is to stay on a dose for atleast 4 weeks (4 injections) then either move up the next dose or stay on the dose you're on if you're happy with it.

Simply put, after injecting your 3rd dose (or 4th dose if you intend to use the 'extra dose'), it's probably time to start thinking of ordering your next pen. For example, you can decide after 3 or 4 weeks if you want to stay on 2.5mg or go up to 5mg. Then go to the pharmacy website (either the one you already used or a different one from the list/site posted), answer the questions and order the dose you want in the same way you did 2.5mg.

Try to leave a week (5 business days) for re-ordering to make sure your pens get to you on time for any new dose. Some pharmacies approve and dispatch within a day or 2, some can take longer depending on delays.

Thank you for all advice but will you tell me which is supplier you use as I had a look and is lots to choose from and I know you knowledgeable.

I've used a few different ones from the list and I buy depending on which of them is the cheapest or easiest/fastest at the time of ordering. Oxford Online Pharmacy, Cloud Pharmacy, Pharmacy Online, Voy (No longer use).

Looking at the list on the site (photo attached) from the cheapest up (2.5mg): I can also suggest Oushk, IQ doctor, Pharmacy2u. Others are also good too.

You'll need to enter the discount code upon checkout for the price to reflect as this is the list with current general discount prices.

I'll see if the photo will be clearer here.

IMustBeInvisible · 31/12/2024 16:03

It doesn't seem to be any clearer, not sure why but you can go to the site and click the little up arrow next to 2.5mg (or any dose), it will arrange the providers from the cheapest to the most expensive for that dose. You can choose that way.

To check other doses, you have to click them too as the pharmacy order will change to reflect their prices for each dose. it doesn't do so automatically when you click one.
