I thought I was going to have to call an ambulance yesterday… 😵‍💫

Before MJ I was regular in my daily visit to the loo 😬. A cup of coffee in the morning and off I would go!

Anyhow the frequency of my time on the loo has greatly reduced!

However yesterday, I thought I was going to:
a) die with pain
b) have to call an ambulance

I needed the loo, except 😳😳😳 it was too big to come out 😳😳😳 so think, half in, half out and NOT budging!

I’ve never given birth other than by c section but a friend said it’s almost like doing an enormous and very painful poo, which I didn’t understand, until yesterday.

I sat for 20 mins trying to visualise it coming out, breathing, relaxing, not getting stressed and then…. I asked my daughter (bless her wee heart) to bring me my phone and I started to google… and how dangerous constipation is!

The embarrassment factor and knowing it had to come out eventually meant I wasn’t going to call an ambulance before anyone says anything, but it fleetingly came into my mind, what on earth will I do? What would I do if this happened when I wasn’t at home?!

Another website said to lie on the ground with legs higher than pelvis, which I did and then walked around a bit. This worked, thankfully! 😅

I’m not going to describe the size other than 😳

Anyway the point of my lighthearted but painful lesson, is that I need more fibre in my diet.

Lunch yesterday was salmon and wholemeal pasta, don’t really feel like pasta these days.

I’ll definitely be seeing how I can avoid this in future.

Hopefully no one is too offended by my description 😬

Like other psyllium husk works for me but you need to make sure you are drinking about 2 lts of clear fluids a day - water, squash, black coffee, tea without milk.....

Not just to help with constipation but also because your body uses water in the process of breaking down fat so you need to make sure it has enough to work with.

Puréed prunes baby pouches. One of those got to work within a couple of hours after a 5 day standoff for me 😂

I had this a few weeks back. I was sweating shaking and crying. It blocked the toilet. I didn't look but my oh said it was as thick as my arm and about 9 inches ling. It really hurts. I take a Dulcolax 12 now on Saturday night and go normally on a Sunday.

I had a similar experience with a side effect of a painkiller I was prescribed. It was very scary as I had no idea what was happening!

Two teaspoons of inulin in my morning coffee keep things soft and moving for me. It's a soluble fibre. I used to eat porridge in the morning, which contains soluble fibre too, but haven't been able to for a long time as it spiked my blood glucose, so I use inulin instead. I have been taking Ozempic for a year or so and am still regular. Also lots of fibrous green veg, particularly broccoli, cabbage and brussels sprouts because those are the ones that I like anyway.

Assuming you're a woman, if you have a poo that won't take the last step you can try pushing it from the inside of your vagina with your thumb. A midwife told me this trick. It can help to pop it out if your muscles aren't doing the trick.

Twenty years on mumsnet and this is the best thing I've ever read. Sublime.

And if you don’t want to use your fingers, you can use one of these.

I take one Psyllium Husk capsule every evening before dinner with a big glass of water. That, as well as lots of fibre in my diet and lots of water means I haven't had constipation once in the 5 weeks I've been on it so far.

I am very regular though and go every morning without fail. So taking the Psyllium in the evening helps with that I think.

Chia seeds sprinkled on most of my meals seems to be helping...

Daily chia seeds for breakfast does the trick for me.

I’m currently in the throes of constipation! Only had one episode since October but I had my 3rd 7.5g injection yesterday and I’m hideously bunged up. I have used a suppository earlier but no real effect except some hideous liquid diarrhoea whilst the evil impacted culprit is still lurking! Last time I couldn’t even wee for hours- spent 4 hours in the bathroom! Have just had another dulcoease.
My own fault as I haven’t eaten enough fibre (not hungry) and ate a tiny bit of fatty food last night when family came over. Just about to have a bath to see if it relaxes me!!

Put Vaseline up your bum before you go. Helps it to move along.

Source: lifelong sufferer of severe constipation due to a genetic condition. Now due to giving birth to real babies as well as faecal ones I think have a mild rectocele prolapse too. Fun fun fun!

Also hot prune juice
