Anyone else have to stop taking Mounjaro because of the side effects?

I so wanted it to work! And it did, but I felt so awful, even at the lowest dose, that it just wasn’t worth it. I chucked it in after six weeks.
Several of my friends have had practically no side effects, lost loads of weight and look amazing.
Am I alone or do other people have similar tales of MJ disappointment?

As an update today I feel absolutely back to normal thank goodness. Side effects lasted 6 days.

I’m stopping mounjaro because as good as it’s been (I’ve lost 22lbs in 5 2.5mg doses) the side effects aren’t worth it.

BMI is now 28 down from 31.5 so will continue with calorie deficit and the gym myself. Fully expecting to gain a little but can’t go on being as poorly as that.

Glad you’re feeling better.

That’s what I’m doing, dieting without weight loss injections due to side effects. It’s harder but possible.

I only had to use one dose of 2.5mg (once) and after about 2 days, I got the smelly burps, no bowel movement, then diarrhea and then constipation; the whole package. My bowel is still slow 8 days later. However, what made me stop was the dizziness and feeling of low blood sugar and low blood pressure. I would lay down to sleep and it would feel like I was fainting/dying. In panic, I would get up and check my blood pressure, which always came back normal. This happened whenever I laid down. I was eating a balanced diet and drinking very well. I had to stop because something definitely wasn't right. I thought, "what if I passed out in my sleep?". I have about 35 kg to lose but I had to quit. I am now considering drinking psyllium husks before my meal as a way to calm my hunger instead. So yes, like you OP, I had bad reactions and oh, I added about 5 to 6kg in a week! Could be water or something, but everything was just off! You are not alone.

I don't know U.K. regulations but in the US the lowest doses (0.25mg ozempic and 2.5mg mounjaro) aren't licensed as therapeutic doses, only for titration. Doctors can't prescribe them for more than a month. The data say that most people require at least twice that to see therapeutic benefit; the smaller doses only exist so you don't get violently ill.

But loads of people do lose weight on 2.5ml. In fact it's the dramatic losses in the first few weeks in my friends that prompted me to give it a go.
I wanted it to help with my drinking ( which it seems to be doing).
The weight isn't shifting quickly so I will probably stop after the next 4 week cycle
I'm going up to 5ml which is worrying me re side effects.

I think I’m going to have to stop. 4th week of 2.5mg. Had mild constipation and belching but was otherwise ok. After the 4th jab developed horrendous diarrhoea and now off work. Imodium not really helping. Having to sit up in bed as whole of GI tract seems to be gurgling and have reflux too. Thought I was going to faint on the loo as the bowel was so explosive. No appetite. Day 5 after the last injection and really hope it wears off soon.

I've stopped after 5 months. The only side affect I have encountered is hair loss but its now so extreme that I have to stop. I've been taking a cocktail of vitamins, use a full Kerastase hair care regime, eat so much protein, changed my hair dryer, straighteners etc but to no avail.
I have a lot of new baby hairs across my whole head but have lost considerably more hairs from my length.
The final straw for me was on a teams work meeting yesterday, I could see how thin my hair was and could see daylight through what was the thickest part.
I was only taking 5mg having stayed on 2.5 for 3 months and 5mg for 2 months. I have lost 2.5 Stone and my bmi is now 31. Im hoping my stomach has shrunk and I can calorie count with exercise and continue to lose.
I have a new pen in the fridge and was meant to inject today but I've decided to stop.

One injection and side effects started within hours. I plan to stop. I'm taking it for diabetes, but my A1C was not that high. I think I'll switch to Metformin.

Just to offer a bit of hope. After this post I had 10 days off, counted clicks on the pen to a half dose and thereafter have been fine. I’m still on a very low dose 3.75mg now some 4 months in but have lost 23kg and am almost normal BMI. I still feel a bit urgh the day after the jab but nothing that stops me doing normal activities.

Appreciate for some the side effects are intolerable and persistent. But for many the effects will wear off.
