Life after MJ injections.

Used MJ to lose 3 stone, 4 pens.

Am now at BMI of 23.3

I have 1 pen left but have decided not to use it.

I still have 7lbs left to target but I'm going it alone.

Last injection was 8 days ago.

The food noise hasn't come back for me in full force yet.

Yes I feel hungry now, didn't when on them but it's not obsessional or urgent

That’s really good to hear, I’m hoping now I’ve lost a chunk of the weight that motivation will keep me going. Good luck!

I’d also disagree with you here, I agree with the op, 23 is a good place to I’m for, with a half a stone either way leeway. 25 is a pound away from overweight basically. Not many health professionals would say as you are.

op, good luck, your plan sounds good.

So my weigh in days are Friday but jumped on today to see what's going on and am the same.

Am not sure what to do. Whether to keep on trying by myself a while to get to my goal or to just use the last pen I have in the fridge.

Had a cup of tea and 3 choccy biscuits last night just because DH offered, I don't even know why I did.

Maybe I should do 2.5mg of the pen for the 5 weeks.
Just to get me through the temptations of Christmas because I thought I would be fine but my sweet tooth obviously hasn't gone??

I’m on 10mg and my sweet tooth hasn’t gone at all. I’m going to carry on with mine until after Christmas otherwise it will all go to pot once there is chocolate around.

Maybe you should do the 2.5 until Christmas is over, it might just help through the tricky bit of Christmas food!

I tried to see what happens if you miss a dose and it says if its less than 4 days take it as normal, ig it's more than 4 days wait till your next injection day.
So I've taken 3.75mg.

The 4 injections (plus bonus dose) will take me to exactly NYE so then I am on my own.

I'm using this last month to properly track and calorie count in preparation for Jan when I just need to maintain.
Am going to start exercising too.

I think BMI 23 is a perfect goal. It's pretty much where I want to be as allows leeway for holidays and special occasions.
Personally I won't reduce my MJ dose until I hit my target. I then plan to work my way back down the doses and learn to maintain as food noise and hunger becomes more prominent. I am happy to accept I may never be without MJ. Even after 9 months on the medication I don't think I'm ready to trust myself/willpower to maintain my new healthy eating patterns. It took me years to get fat and I think it'll take me time to learn how I should eat to maintain a slim figure.
I'm interested in following how others get on, but for me losing the weight is probably less than half the battle, maintenance is where the magic needs to happen.

This is exactly how I feel about eventually hitting target, moving to maintenance.

'Luckily' I have a long way to go, so will be on MJ for at least another year. But, in my mind, I am prepared to take it for much longer (maybe forever, if I can) to give myself as slow and soft a move into maintenance as I can. I know from my past that losing weight is the relatively easy bit. It's the keeping it off that I find so very hard.

Hello, may I ask you - how long did it take you to lose the 3 stone? And how soon after first injection did you begin to see weight loss?

About 16 weeks.

Immediately, I lost 6lbs the first week.

@AfterMJ Thank you - thanks for the inspiration! I've been considering trying this for ages and you've swung it for me.

@AfterMJ I'm in a similar position but I've been on it since March. I went down to 2.5 for 4 weeks and started to feel hungry and not in control so I'm back on 3.75. I'll stay on this until January and see where I am. My bmi is just under 24 now and I'm also aiming for 22.5-23. Agree is not an accurate measure for everyone but it's a good starting point.
I don't feel ready to go without. I have pens to last me 6 months or so on low doses and hope by then I'll be confident enough to go solo.

It feels a bit scary doesn't it.

I feel like I'm better off being at the goal weight so I'm just maintaining rather than coming off it and still trying to lose more.

Going to try really hard the next 5 weeks to hit target so I'm starting in the right place in January.

I feel like coming off it is when the real work starts.

I've spent my whole life gaining.

I want this to be the end of that cycle.

I really like being a healthy weight :(

@AfterMJ I agree it's not realistic to come off and try to lose. It's hard enough to maintain! If anything I want to be 2-3 lbs lower so as I have a bit of flexibility and don't panic!

I used to be slim and remember my habits from back then. Weirdly I used to just live off food on the go!

eg fruit pots, meal deals, low calorie ready meals.

I never really cooked as I spent a lot of time outside the house. I don’t think I’ll go back to buying quick food like this every day, but my takeaway from this approach is being conscious of portion sizes and getting the right nutrients in.
