Life after MJ injections.

AfterMJ · 22/11/2024 16:49

Used MJ to lose 3 stone, 4 pens.

Am now at BMI of 23.3

I have 1 pen left but have decided not to use it.

I still have 7lbs left to target but I'm going it alone.

Last injection was 8 days ago.

Good luck! Has your appetite come back? Mine came back after 8 days a days but on a much lower dose and I am really looking forward to my next pen arriving!! X

AfterMJ · 22/11/2024 16:51

I'm still not back to having the cravings like I used to. Still not feeling hugely hungry and still feeling full quickly.

AF is due. Lost 2.5lbs the last week.

Feeling worried about being able to do it myself and maintaining but I just don't want to start another pen as I was having some aches and pains in tummy.

I only got up to 5mg. I didn't want to go higher.

Interested in this. Congrats on your weight loss ! I bet you feel so much better in yourself, I know I do!
I'm due to stop after this month, I have 3 injections left on 5mg then that's it I'm done. I've lost just over 2 stone so far since mid September. I want to lose another 8 pounds and I'll be what I used to before kids 😆 dreading trying to keep it off and the chocolate cravings coming back...
would be good to keep this thread going for others ready to stop 👍🏻

wizzywig · 22/11/2024 16:56

I'm scared stiff of stopping

MounjaroUser1233 · 22/11/2024 18:11

I am really worried about AF as mine are all over the place due to menopause and the week before I am always totally ravenous; I eat so much. Wondering if I will be less hungry on MJ or if it'll be blocking out all the additional, PMS-related food noise completely. I really hope it is the latter 😬

@mrstumbler so you lost a stone a month? Thats amazing!!

AfterMJ · 24/11/2024 12:32

So 10 days since my last injection.

It's not been as bad as expected.

Food noise it definitely back but I don't have the compulsion like I did before I started MJ

Perhaps because I'm actually enjoying being quite slim and don't want to risk losing that?

One change is I am wanting breakfast again so am having a little porridge in the mornings.

I really want to be down another 5lbs before Christmas.

Oh and the pains/aches I was having in my sides have completely gone so thwy must have been MJ related.

Haven't brought my self to bin the unused 5mg pen yet just because it feels like throwing £150 in the bin 😭😭

You don’t need to be another 5lb down if your BMI is 23….
Please have a realistic idea of what a sensible target for maintenance is… I would suggest BMI 25.

Sorry? 25 is the very minimum to not be overweight.

At 25llBMI just a 2lb gain and I would be classed as overweight again!
You think I should gain weight to be on the cusp of overweight? 🤔

18 to 25 is the healthy range.

Another 5 to 7 lbs loss will take me to the middle of the healthy range.

Placemarking as I'll be following your journey with interest OP- good luck! I'm on wegovy but really scared of stopping. I just LOVE living without food noise and cravings and just eating intuitively without worrying about food. I want to live like this forever but know I can't take it forever.

It's very freeing isn't it.

My hope is that habit may have influenced my brain by now, so that time spend on injections has broken the habit of eating constantly.

Yes absolutely I think that . If your natural tendency is to be overweight then being at the top of the healthy range is the right place to be .

I’d also disagree with you here, I agree with the op, 23 is a good place to I’m for, with a half a stone either way leeway. 25 is a pound away from overweight basically. Not many health professionals would say as you are.

op, good luck, your plan sounds good.

My natural tendency isn't to be over weight, trauma and bad choices made me morbidly obese.

Nothing about that is natural or what my body wanted to do.

And I've spent years addressing that

NCfor24 · 24/11/2024 13:41

I think BMI 23 is a perfect goal. It's pretty much where I want to be as allows leeway for holidays and special occasions.
Personally I won't reduce my MJ dose until I hit my target. I then plan to work my way back down the doses and learn to maintain as food noise and hunger becomes more prominent. I am happy to accept I may never be without MJ. Even after 9 months on the medication I don't think I'm ready to trust myself/willpower to maintain my new healthy eating patterns. It took me years to get fat and I think it'll take me time to learn how I should eat to maintain a slim figure.
I'm interested in following how others get on, but for me losing the weight is probably less than half the battle, maintenance is where the magic needs to happen.

mrstumbler · 24/11/2024 13:42

@MounjaroUser1233 Yeah, the first week I lost 9lbs, I think alot of it was water weight in the beginning. Then after that initial first loss it was around 2lbs a week and has been ever since which I think is a steady weight loss now

AfterMJ · 24/11/2024 13:43

I agree with the maintenance thing.

I'm in a slightly different situation as I lost 80% of it and maintained for a year before starting mounjaro, so I feel confident I can maintain

Really interested in updates OP if you can bear to keep posting- I am really appreciating the food silence rather than noise and don't want to go back. How long were you using the injection? I wonder if it's easier if you have been on it for a while? Does it stick better?

Keep us updated OP! I’m 5 weeks post MJ and there’s no doubting it requires will power, as medication was easy as it was removing hunger and cravings.

Ive fluctuated in the 5 weeks and am around 2lbs heavier than when I stopped, but some days I’m lighter, some days not.

I’ve upped my steps and am starting swimming again but whatever happens I don’t want to medicate again so it’s all down to me now and how much I want to remain thinner

frecklejuice · 24/11/2024 18:17

I have just started a new 10mg pen but have decided to make this my last, I've lost 46lbs and my bmi isn't where I'd like it to be but I feel like it's given me the kickstart I needed and I only need to lose around another stone.

I'm bored of feeling rubbish for the few days of the jab, whatever the mg. So I'm going to try it on my own but I'm terrified it's all going to pile back on.

Good luck to everyone stopping.

eeeeeeeee · 25/11/2024 07:31

Well done! Keep us updated.

I have reached 24.9 BMI now but want to keep going with MJ until I have lost a bit more. I don’t want to take the medication forever but when the time comes, I’m considering lowering the dose before I stop completely. Really interesting in how you get on though

Summerhillsquare · 25/11/2024 07:55

Well the advice is to titrate down and not stop suddenly. I will be doing that after Christmas. It's taken a long time for my body to adjust to weight loss after a few years of obesity (skin drape, muscle loss), and I am trying to be gentle on it. Originally I thought I'd do 3 months but I know now that wasn't realistic.

I didn’t know about titrating down, I’ve just gone up to 10mg. I’m going to email med express and see which dose they advise next.

Whoever said they want to feel like this forever is so right, the lack of obsession/noise around food is amazing.

The food noise hasn't come back for me in full force yet.

Yes I feel hungry now, didn't when on them but it's not obsessional or urgent
