This is a place for anyone thinking of starting GLP-1 (Mounjaro or Wegovy) injections. No silly questions, just ask and I’ll do my best to answer them

Ah, yikes, attacking and calling posters the mysogynistic term Karen is really not having the effect you think it will.

What causes the reflux and diarrhoea that people say is a side effect? If you already get reflux because of chronic gastritis or hiatal hernia does that mean you shouldn't take it?

I had really bad indigestion every day before taking it and haven't had it since, it's been six months. I used to have to take omeprazole every day and never take it now.

I have woken twice with acid in my mouth. Once was when I had a hot chocolate late at night. The other time was when I had a glass of wine at night.

I don't drink or eat anything after 6 pm now except of course water, but don't miss it and certainly don't miss the reflux.

The trend I'm seeing on here and other forums is that it tends to be people who are heavily restricting foods or eating greasy/stodgy foods that experience most side effects. That isn't based on scientific research just anecdotally what I'm seeing, and it makes sense to me. Mounjaro slows down your digestion, so what you eat sits in your guts longer than it would normally, if that's a Chinese takeaway then it's going to irritate. Mounjaro also increases insulin sensitivity so if you are restricting to 500 calories a day then you are likely to have low blood sugar which casuals nausea, dizziness and tiredness,

You need to implement a health, reasonable diet, plenty of protein and fibre, fresh veg and fruit, lean meats, dairy without sweeteners...

Thank you - really helpful. I imagine that losing weight will be beneficial to my hiatus hernia anyway so the possible side effects are unlikely to be as bad as staying overweight.
