This is a place for anyone thinking of starting GLP-1 (Mounjaro or Wegovy) injections. No silly questions, just ask and I’ll do my best to answer them

What causes the reflux and diarrhoea that people say is a side effect? If you already get reflux because of chronic gastritis or hiatal hernia does that mean you shouldn't take it?

HansHolbein · 14/11/2024 21:07

Welcome to Mumsnet.

How far along are you into taking WLI?

TheBoldHelper · 14/11/2024 21:47

The sub forum is littered with people asking advice and getting answers, so I’m surprised a little at your thread, can you maybe explain your qualifications here?

Idontjetwashthefucker · 14/11/2024 21:51

I agree with PP, there's loads of posts about the injections on the weight loss boards. Why should we ask you?

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 14/11/2024 21:58

Could you start by giving us a summary of your medical or pharmaceutical qualifications, please?

Sure, won’t take long, none! I’m just a user wishing to help with any question I can. I sure won’t be issuing any medical type advise as I wouldn’t know the answer, just my experience

Hi, I’m 3 weeks in, so new, just thought I might be of help to people that were thinking of starting

Why would you be surprised? It is what it says it is. Like you say, there a lot of duplication across Mumsnet, why would you be surprised at another? I’m surprised you’re surprised.

You don’t have to ask me anything, just an opportunity for you to do so

I can’t tell you the cause of side effects from a medical perspective, only that in my experience the only time that I’ve had any real noticeable side effect (reflux for me) was when I over indulged one night. Went as quickly as it came, but was a lesson to listen to how full I was getting and to not carry on eating as I used to. Regarding your previous condition, you’d be best to talk with a clinician about that specifically

What a very odd thread to start! Why do you think you have anything of use to tell people above anyone else on this forum? You're barely into your first month! If people have questions they will post a thread and people who actually know the answers will respond. Absolutely no need for you to post this thread at all.

TheBoldHelper · 15/11/2024 07:10

This is a little odd op.

IMustBeInvisible · 15/11/2024 08:09

A bit odd.

Your thread title suggests you have questions for people who're thinking about starting.

Your OP suggests you actually want people who're thinking about starting to ask you questions about MJ.

Your answer to one question suggests your intention is for people to ask you questions about your own journey on MJ.

Three different meanings.

It's really an odd thread but kudos for wanting to help. Your thread just hasn't been thought through. If you have some answers from your experience like we all do, feel free to reply to threads where people ask specific questions that you can answer from your experience. That's probably the best way to help at this time. Welcome to Mounjaro and the board.

IMustBeInvisible · 15/11/2024 08:23

Also, if you're intention is the 3rd one - for people to ask you questions about your journey, of course you can start thread on that and make it clear it's an AMA (Ask Me Anything) thread about your experience.

Can't imagine why anyone would be interested though 🤷🏼‍♀️

TheBoldHelper · 15/11/2024 08:56

Op, i think it’s admirable to want to help people, but you surely know you are a. newbie yourself and one of the least experienced on here, and that nearly every poster, in the thousands and thousands of posts is , either or both, asking for advice and helping each other.

So to name change to position yourself as a “weight loss helper”, when you’ve only been on it 3 weeks, and then start a thread to direct people to you as the expert here to help is an unusual decision. That’s what people are surprised at.

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 15/11/2024 09:35

If you stick around this board you will see that there a steady stream of questions from people who are considering GLP1, with whom you can share your wisdom and experience.

Checkthemeaning · 15/11/2024 09:40

I'm 4 months in (and 2 stone down as of this morning, yay!) so us long timers might be a little bit more informed due to the stages of going up the various MG's.

Feel free to ask us anything you like this OP 🤣

Anonymousess · 15/11/2024 10:27

How interesting. I have been on MJ since August and I’m still learning things all the time. Thinking back to when I was 3 weeks in, I absolutely was still a newbie and figuring things out and asking loads of questions myself. I don’t think someone 3 weeks in is in the right position to give advice to others in a dedicated thread.
