Waiting for my 1st monjaro delivery

I'm absolutely petrified and excited and worried and I just want it to arrive.

If anyone wants to hold my hand please do it's nerve-wracking isn't it!

I haven't told anyone apart from my husband so don't have friends to support me but I have a LOT of weight to loose my BMI is 49.7! It feels absolutely impossible to loose weight anynother way and since being on HRT for an early menopause at 37.

Can I join please? My first delivery should be coming today and I will be injecting today. I’m at 200lbs and haven’t been in a healthy BMI since before having kids (oldest almost 8!)

Snacking is a huge issue for me so I am really hoping Mounjaro helps with this. My meals tend to be pretty good it’s just all the extra crap I eat!

My husband is aware and supportive but no one else is real life knows but I think I will be open if I feel it is working for me.

good luck to everyone!

Of course you can!

Snacking has really been the big thing that has absolutely disappeared. Inhave Judy eaten an apple and that's the 1st thing inhave had today and haven't been hungry.

I'm not surenother people really need to know as long as you have 1 or 2 who do and you can always come here. I found there is a log of anger in the public about the weightloss jabs that I have decided not to say anything. There have been posts in local groups that have had so much anger I think I'll just keep the info to myself and stay away from any possible negativity!

@JaroSally

I weighed in and I've lost 5.2lbs!! I'm thrilled!

Food intake has been good. I work in a school and get fed at lunchtimes - there's a massive salad bar so that makes my life easier!! Especially as I work full days and don't get home until 6.30om most nights, and play hockey, so am busy.

I tend to stick to a protein shake/yogurt in the morning - I can't stomach more than that - I've never been good at breakfast.

Salad for lunch with mixed beans, and a protein like boiled egg/tuna/ham with some homemade soup, followed by melon. I'll start to get bored with that soon though so need to shake it up.

If I need a snack I have some nuts.

And then a normal evening meal with the family, just slightly less. This week I've had spag bol, roast chicken thighs and veg with sweet potato, shepherds pie, chicken casserole etc. I cook most evenings and they are made healthily.

The biggest thing for me is no wine!! At all since Sunday. And no mindless snacking.

My Nutracheck is set at 1500 calories. Before MJ I would have been ravenous on that. I've done it easily this week. I've still felt hungry when it's time to eat, but nothing major and have eaten less and been fuller more quickly. So I'm in a calorie deficit for my food, and then when you take into account any exercise calories as well, I am well under.

Todays food hasn't gone on yet but I'm
playing hockey so likely to be porridge for breakfast, whatever the other team feed us for match teas, I'll take a protein shake with me, and we're going to have a Chinese and some wine tonight. But I'll choose something simple from the Chinese I think, like duck, or noodles.

Second jab tonight!!

That's a great loss what you are doing is clearly working well so keep it up!

How are you finding your energy levels?

Well done @AlwaysTimeForWine.

Well, it's the morning after the first injection for me and no side effects - perhaps a slight headache but I often feel a bit like that when I wake up.

I am a bit hungry so I suspect I won't be one of those 'I just couldn't eat' folks. I'm making myself banana and date porridge which I'm looking forward to.

So far so good.

I think the can't eat people are on the higher ones perhaps the 5 or 7.5 will do that for us!

@JaroSally thats so good to hear about the snacking- for me it seems constant. I eat when I’m making the kids food and my own food - just mindless eating that I can’t ever seem to control.

I have officially just done my first jab - much easier than I expected. I feel nervous about the side effects but also really excited for what this could mean for me.

Ive Done the food shop and got myself some protein shakes for the week as I’ve read the importance of keeping up the protein and as a veggie I do struggle with this. Dinners I’m hoping to keep the same as they are generally healthy as is my lunch - if I can get a handle on my snacking I really think this can work.

First morning after the jab and I feel ok. Maybe a bit of dry mouth but that could be from the heating being on. I think the real test will come later when I start cooking a roast and how much I try to consume while I am cooking!

How did you find yesterday and this morning?

I have also had a dry mouth but on tbe plus side i have been drinking plenty because of it!

OP posts:
twinkydink · 25/11/2024 12:53

Very limited side effects if any - maybe a slight dry mouth and headache.

Yesterday I had a roast at 2pm and then nothing else after that. That’s unheard of for me!

it’s like a I can see food now but don’t have to eat it - such a strange feeling not wanting to stuff my face constantly.

How are you finding it?

BagQueenBee · 25/11/2024 20:51

Day 4 for me, no real side effects, maybe a little bloated, but not uncomfortable really.

Cant say I don’t think about food, but I am thinking about what I can eat, trying to eat often, had 2 poached eggs and whole meal toast lunch time, some grapes and water, so I know I need to eat more, but I’m struggling…..

What is everyone eating?

twinkydink · 26/11/2024 06:31

I struggled with dinner last night - could have easily not eaten but that would have meant I had only had 650 calories!! I ended up having some rice and veg with soy sauce.

I think I’m so used to having pasta or something really carb heavy for dinner I’m struggling for ideas. I’m going to pick up some hummus this week so I can have that with some veg when I’m really not feeling like eating.

Houmous sounds like a great idea. And you'll be getting some decent protein and fibre.

What about a protein shake?

twinkydink · 27/11/2024 14:50

I really don’t want to get into the habit of missing meals or just having a shake because I’m not sure that’s sustainable long term. I have one in the morning so I’m really keen to still have a proper meal at lunch and dinner. Planning a veggie curry tonight and hoping I can just have a smaller plate.

how are you getting on meal wise?

HellofromJohnCraven · 27/11/2024 15:31

I am 14 weeks in.
Injections are fine and easy. I have lost 26lbs so far. BMI has gone from 33 to 28.

That is sensible. I have a protein shake for breakfast so wouldn't want to have another in the day as well.

My meals are good! Protein shake for brekkie. Lunch is a cup of soup at the school canteen - usually homemade and veg based, followed by a salad with mixed beans, and a boiled egg. Sometimes tuna or ham or chicken added. A slice of melon to finish. Boring but the same every day as I know I can get it in the school dining room.

Dinners are normal food. Tonight I'm doing roast chicken. Yesterday was salmon, rice and veg, casserole, bolognese. Steak tomorrow. Smaller portions at dinner but not by much.

I have zero help from MJ today. And I'm only W2D4. I could have eaten everything in sight and have had to use serious willpower to stick to my food plan. 😫

AlwaysTimeForWine · 28/11/2024 10:24

@twinkydink How was your veggies curry? Hope you saved some for me 😛

twinkydink · 28/11/2024 18:12

@AlwaysTimeForWine Just had the veggie curry it was lush!

Are You tracking your calories? I have always found it so difficult before because I was snacking so much I found I was missing stuff off and pretending i was in a defecit. It’s a lot easier now as I’m only eating 3 meals with maybe one snack! Feels like a far more accurate representation of what I’m eating!

Yes - I've been tracking my calories for the last 2 weeks. Religiously, everything that I eat.

I aim for 1400 a day. If I go over this a bit I don't stress about it. I weigh Sat morning so start tracking then.

Below - you can see my days calories in blue. Most days it's fine but was higher at the weekend - but still under my TDEE even before any exercise.

If you also look at purple, those are my calories burned by movement and exercise on top.

The green tick is the calories under, on top of my deficit already accounting for approx 700 a day

So I'm already set to be in a calorie deficit at 1400 and I don't rely on the exercise to get me under that.

And annoyingly the scales aren't moving at all this week. 🙄

Hopefully survived Christmas?!

twinkydink · 30/12/2024 14:39

@AlwaysTimeForWine I kept meaning to come back to this thread! Still really enjoying this process - I’ve had an awful bug since Xmas eve so I have barely eaten and MJ has had nothing to do with it! I’ve actually delayed taking my next jab by 2 days as I need to get some calories back in me.

Feels pretty mad to say I’ve lost 1st 6lbs but I reckon I would put about 5lbs of that down to the bug. So I can imagine the next couple of weeks I will lose very little. I’ve stuck on 2.5mg for my second pen as the suppression is still so strong

How is it going with you?

Oh no - that bug sounds horrible! I hope you start to feel better soon.

Well done on your weight loss so far! I'm sure it won't go back up if you're sensible when you reintroduce foods.

I've lost 16 lbs in 6.5 weeks so very happy with that.

I've gone up to a 5mg pen but will be spreading out. Did 3mg on Sat and going up a little but more next week. No plans to go higher than 3.75mg though - the pens just last longer!

Really chuffed as I've lost 22lbs in total with my own weight loss before MJ included. I'm down in the 14 stones for the first time in 4 years which feels bloody brilliant.

And on the whole I have minimal side effects. A bit of nausea, a lot of burps (but not sulphur ones!) and feeling quite full. That's about it.

How about you?

I’m so happy to hear everyone is doing well - seems so unusual on a weight loss thread especially at this time of year.

im not sure I would really say I’ve had any side effects - I had no idea what sulphur burps were until the last few days and then I feel like I see people posting about them constantly!

I did the bonus dose too- in my head I’m hoping that I can do 3 pens in total to get me to my goal and then I can decide if I think I need another. I took the first one of my second pen last night as I am finally getting over this cold/bug.

A pair of jeans that were previously pretty tight on me now just seem to fall off me. I have never been successful with any type of weight loss and I am just so happy I took the chance.

im hoping to start exercising again this week as I was doing really well with that before the illness. Are either of you getting much exercise in?

I usually exercise quite a bit. I play hockey so train once a week and play every weekend. But we're on the Xmas break so need to get my arse moving this week or I'll be painfully unfit for the first games back!

I go to strength sessions/bootcamps sporadically as well but need to prioritise those in the new year as feel like I'm losing muscle mass!

It's tough to fit it all in, on top of work and kids etc ..

How about you? What type of exercise do you like to do?
