Mounjaro no effect??

I had my first dose of 2.5g Tuesday night and I feel no different. Has anyone had this? I still feel hungry, I still think about food, I am still able to eat. The only difference is that I don't fancy my usual coffee and I have a lot more energy.

Source?

The mounjaro website for prescribers. You can access it.

bloody hell ghough, at least google.

KitsyWitsy · 08/11/2024 19:03

i know how to google, thanks. I was asking because the official site just shows data for 5, 10 and 15mg and you are saying that there is proof that 2.5mg has no effect on A1C? I can’t find a source for that. All I see is ‘A1C reduced at all doses’.

Since mine and many other people’s sugar has been reduced on the lowest dose, I just wonder where you would get that from? Do you think nothing can possibly happen for you until you get to the ‘magical therapeutic dose of 5mg?!” So funny how so many people, including me have lost up to a stone on 2.5.

I’m afraid it is you who is incorrect. 2.5mg is treatment initiation and is proven to have no glycemic control impact. It is not therapeutic.

I thought the whole point about tirzepatide Vs semaglutide is that the former has multiple known effects (regulates blood sugar by stimulating insulin secretion AND suppressing glucagon secretion AND slows gastric transit). It affects satiety in more than one way way, and that's before you get into the anecdotal reports of effects on addictive behaviour and anxiety.

OP, You absolutely should still feel hunger, still be able to eat and still think about food on Mounjaro. If you can't, you need to talk to your HCP about dosage. If you are aiming to achieve complete suppression you should talk to your GP.

What Mounjaro should do is modify your experience of these responses so they are less overwhelming. Ideally you want to be able to notice a tolerable level of hunger and choose to respond to that with healthy and appropriately-sized food choices.

OK, this makes sense. It closely describes where I am at now. I have just seen so many people, online and in RL, say they have zero food noise and total appetite suppression. I guess having manageable hunger and then making good decisions, is what will allow this to continue as a lifestyle.😊

Nope. No cigar, I'm afraid.

There are no results for 2.5mg because just like 7.5mg and 12.5mg they did not keep anyone on those doses in the studies. If you struggle to understand trial results then you might also post in threads telling posters that 7.5mg and 12.5mg have no impact and are also, in your understanding of the term, 'non-therapeutic'.

It is utterly incorrect and a leap of imagination to assume that they are non therapeutic doses and that the results somehow show that. They simply have not been studied in the trials.

Doggymummar · 08/11/2024 19:56

I'm about to start 7.5 this month and have no weight loss yet I'm not expecting any till 10

Any reason why you are only expecting this at 10?

Oh my, please apply logic. Really just think about it. For one moment. How do you think they knew on the 2.5..why are you so desperate to think you know better than the scientists who created this drug, more than the manufacturer, and declare 2.5 as therapeutic. Do you do this for other drugs? Or is it just mounjaro you’re a self proclaimed dispute the manufacturers findings I know better everyone position?

Ceebs85 · 08/11/2024 21:23

I had almost no appetite suppression all 4 weeks on 2.5 but took my first 5mg on Wednesday and have had absolutely no interest in food since then 🙃

How have you got on with the 7.5? I done 4 weeks of 2.5 with a 2lb loss and am now in week 7 of 5mg with a 4lb loss so around 6lb altogether! Am just wondering if the 7.5 might be my dose where I see some good loss like many others have on the lower doses!

SooooHungry · 25/01/2025 09:39

Sorry, I know this is an old thread, but I struggled on 2.5mg and now on 5mg I only get the odd day with suppression and still find myself hungry on lots of days. I know what the med can do because when I have days of suppression it's incredible and something I'd never experienced before mounjaro. However, those days are rare and I feel I need much higher doses.

I was just wondering if you could update me OP and let me know how you r getting on? Did 7.5mg or 10mg start to make a difference?

What about others on this thread, has the mounjaro effect kicked in? At what dose?

Thanks. I'm just needing some motivation to keep going ...

I've lost nearly 4 stone since May which is slow compared to others but I've lost the majority of it over the past few months, when I went up to 10mg it was a game changer for me.

Titasaducksarse · 25/01/2025 09:47

Blimey that's a lot of money to spend to need to get to 10mg to feel any benefit. I'd honestly be so disheartened.

ThinkingOfColours · 27/01/2025 22:44

One thing is that Mounjara hasn’t been available that long in the UK, so seeing how different people get on with it is quite interesting. There seems to be a lot of variety.

At 2.5 and 5 mg there has only been a little suppression for me; just odd days; and I’ve only lost about 5 lbs. I might have to wait till 7.5 - 10 + mg to get any noticeable impact.

I think needing a higher dose - 10 mg to 15 mg for effect is quite common, at least from what I’ve read on the American chat boards (it’s been around in the US for longer).

ThinkingOfColours · 28/01/2025 13:26

PS. Best to ignore @IrisPallida . She’s always popping up on these threads, totally rude to other posters as well as ill-informed (ie. talking gibberish).

Ffs give it time
have you not read up about it?
yes some people do not feel much effects from 2.5

No need to be unpleasant. The OP is clearly just hopeful for a quick response to it, like most people would be.

OP - try not to worry and just give it time. Some don't notice any difference until they are prescribed a higher dose. The 2.5mg dose is really just to get the body used to it rather than actually a treatment. Best of luck.
