I had my first dose of 2.5g Tuesday night and I feel no different. Has anyone had this? I still feel hungry, I still think about food, I am still able to eat. The only difference is that I don't fancy my usual coffee and I have a lot more energy.

Ffs give it time
have you not read up about it?
yes some people do not feel much effects from 2.5

StaySpicy · 07/11/2024 09:41

Little to no difference here. I'm hoping being on my period has something to do with still wanting to eat and that next week I'll see some effect.

BuildingABetterMe · 07/11/2024 09:44

@User364837 I have read up loads thanks. Lots of people have said they have not had weightless on 2.5g but I haven't read anyone saying that they haven't had appetite suppression or change to food thoughts. But thanks for your helpful post.

@StaySpicy now that is an interesting thought as I am on my period too. Fingers crossed it is that.x

Dp didn't feel the difference till he was on a much higher dose and only then did it kick in and he started losing weight

SilenceInside · 07/11/2024 09:50

It can take between 8 to 72 hours for the medication to be fully in effect and many people don't get much effect on the initial starting dose, which isn't intended to produce weight loss potentially for the whole 4 weeks that you're on it. Some people need to get to the higher doses before it works effectively for them. It's a long-term process.

TheShellBeach · 07/11/2024 09:51

You need to give it more time OP, before you start worrying. It's very normal for people not to notice much difference after their first injection.

And remember that 2.5mg isn't a treatment dose. It's just to get your body acclimatised to tirzepatide.

TinkerTiger · 07/11/2024 09:56

Weight loss is only a bonus for some on this dose. This is more to get you used to the drug. It also builds up in you every week you take a dose, so you'll feel it more with every week.

GrimDamnFanjo · 07/11/2024 10:09

2.5 is not a treatment dose.

MounjaroUser1233 · 07/11/2024 10:16

I am sorry it hasn't affected you yet. That is understandably frustrating. Like others have said the initial 4 weeks are to get you used to it, and it's a non therapeutic dose. I don't think that is made very clear by the online companies selling it although I'm sure it is there somewhere.
FWIW I had effects pretty much immediately the first week but then after almost two weeks on 2.5mg it's worn off and last night I had a big binge ☹ which is really disappointing and I'm annoyed at myself! I am now wondering if what I experienced initiially was a placebo effect?! Whatever it was, it was nice whilst it lasted! Am now impatiently waiting to go up to 5mg and see if that works. Good luck x

IWantToSeeMyFeetAgain · 07/11/2024 10:25

I have felt a big difference between 2.5mg and 5mg - I had my first 5mg dose on Saturday and have little desire to eat, let alone raid the snack cupboard.

Don’t be downhearted; it’s a marathon not a sprint.

winersrollingin · 07/11/2024 10:33

I think it needs a couple of days to kick in and will be worse on your period. Remember it's a hormone too

RunSlowTalkFast · 07/11/2024 10:56

I've found 2.5mg had no noticeable affect for me, I'm 5 weeks in, it's frustrating!

Due to take my first 5mg dose later today, fingers crossed it does something!

Edited

I meant the actual booklet with the medicine 🙄

Stick with it and give it time. I didn't start having the big losses that others get on the lower dose until I hit 7.5mg. I was literally just about to quit because I was spending a lot with little results when it just magically started to work. The journey is different for everyone and I've learned not to compare myself with others.

RunSlowTalkFast · 07/11/2024 11:52

OP ignore the rude poster. Some people come on mumsnet because it gives them an anonymous outlet to post things that make them feel smug and superior.

It has been frustrating getting no effect from 2.5mg because so many people seem to get a huge effect from it. I'm going to soldier on with 5mg though.

UpUpUpU · 07/11/2024 12:02

Give it time OP.

I had immediate appetite suppression to the extreme on my first week. This started to wear off after 4 days. I am on week 6 now and I have found that days completely vary. some days I can barely eat and others I feel really hungry, will eat more and then be suppressed again the next day. I feel like it's a natural response for your body to top up when you haven't eaten enough and I am working really hard to ensure I am eating consistently each day to avoid this.

I went up to 3.75 last week as felt it was wearing off a little with the suppression but I didnt feel great so have gone back to 2.5. I had 2.5 on Tuesday night. Was quite hungry yesterday but fully suppressed today and having to force some food down.

Just take each day as it comes. Make healthy choices and keep a diary of how it is working day by day.

KitsyWitsy · 07/11/2024 15:01

It worked immediately for me and many others. People are so rude to people on here. Obviously, people are hoping it will work immediately for them too.

You might be one of the unfortunate ones who have to be at a higher dose. Just stick with it, I guess.

VioletCrawleyForever · 07/11/2024 15:05

I noticed very little difference until I went up to 5mg.

It's not therapeutic until 5mg. 2.5mg is getting you used to it.

2.5mg IS therapeutic for many, many people. For others, they find that they need to get to the highest doses before there is a THERAPEUTIC effect and 5mg is therefore NOT therapeutic.

I do wish people would stop parroting the results of a study that they do not understand using words that they also do not understand.

Mysticmaiden2024 · 07/11/2024 22:11

I injected on a Wednesday night and don't remember any suppression until the Sunday, so 3 days after injecting. I had almost thought it wasn't working on me until it kicked in heavily. So enjoy the few normal days while you can!

VioletCrawleyForever · 08/11/2024 01:01

@IrisPallida

And I wish people wouldn't be rude aresholes but you can't get all you wish for in life.

I’m afraid it is you who is incorrect. 2.5mg is treatment initiation and is proven to have no glycemic control impact. It is not therapeutic.

KitsyWitsy · 08/11/2024 08:25

2.5mg definitely controlled my blood sugar. I am T2D. What is the source for that?

I think I am a super responder though. It’s really affected me right from a couple of hours from starting it.
