@Missreginafalange I feel the same.. I liken it to indifference. Itโ€™s so freeing.

@KolaKoalaKan Well done on the loss!

@Mummy20213x0 Youโ€™re doing great. Happy for you! My clothes are also so much roomier. Iโ€™ve had a couple of comments too.

@TheOtherSide21 Incredible loss! Hope the new dose works well for you.

@financialcareerstuff That was so nice to read. I agree with you. Sometimes I feel like crying with happiness. I will stay on it for the rest of my life if I need to.

@Vegemite123 Great loss well done. I understand about the wobblyness. I still have 6st/39kg to go so it all feels very far away. But we will keep going!

@memememe Fab, well done. Jab day for me tomorrow too. Iโ€™m going to do the 5mg.. fuck it lol. Iโ€™ll keep you all updated.

@FuckOffGerms Username makes me howl. So happy for you well done!!!

@Fizzleaway1 Lovely pics Fizz. We also had a nice walk today. Usually I would dread it because I hate getting sweaty, but it was much easier.

@rockingbird Also did a roast and had pretty much fuck all. I donโ€™t blame you about not telling anyone. The shit you see on here from other posters is enough to put you off. I am kind of dreading meals out in the run up to Xmas as thereโ€™s no way Iโ€™m going to be able to eat loads of food.

@recklessgran are you ok?

ItsMintUpNorth · 10/11/2024 20:43

End of week 5 for me today and after having next to no suppression this past week, sugar cravings returning and staying the same all week I've just bitten the bullet and taken 5mg. My plan was to continue with 2.5 or move up to 3.75 but I started considering the 5mg and before I knew it I'd done it Grin. Really hoping I am ok but this week was realistically the best for me to go up a dose as I am wfh everyday which is very rare.

ItsMintUpNorth · 10/11/2024 20:48

Also despite weight staying the same (12lbs in 5 weeks) I've had two NSV, in 5 weeks I've gone from the loosest hook on bras to the tightest as I've lost 3in under busy and also a close colleague remarked 'that skirt is bloody huge on you around the waist now'. She doesn't know I'm taking MJ but I bought it the week before I started and at the time we had a conversation about how well it fit as I'd got it in Tesco's and couldn't try it on at the time.

I cooked huge Sunday roast for our family and the neighbours today - so a houseful โ˜บ๏ธ I struggled to eat much at all.! It's quite bizarre I just don't fancy anything. I'm expecting the shaky/sickly feeling again tomorrow morning..hence me being mindful what went in. The struggle is real, mon-Fri I can control what goes in as I'm pretty much alone, I am however finding it hard to eat much and the pressure to so in front of others is immense! Anyone else finding that? I've told no one I'm using the jab as I don't want the judgemental comments from others.

I wouldn't force yourself to eat in front of others. Partly because people might not actually notice. And partly because if it's obvious you're trying to make good choices, it explains why you've lost weight.

I don't want people thinking that I've lost weight from injections. I'm planning to get back into running, so hopefully that will "explain" it.

ShineyHappyPeeple · 10/11/2024 21:30

These threads move fast!

Week 5 for me on 2.5mg (I used the hard twist method to get the bonus dose) and I noticed more of an appetite. I didn't exercise at all due to tiredness with a busy work week (and a bit of laziness thrown in), haven't had enough water and have enjoyed a few chocolates!

In all, I lost 0.5kg / 1lb. I've just taken 3.75mg from my 5mg pen by counting 45 clicks. I'll see how that goes.

I really need to force myself to exercise as I'm worried about losing muscle mass. Has anyone else upped their strength work?

HansHolbein · 10/11/2024 21:33

@ShineyHappyPeeple Happy that itโ€™s going well for you.

This week is the first week that Iโ€™ve done exercise. Husband is doing it with me. We are doing 20 mins of kettlebell (sp?) work every other day. On the non day we are doing 20 mins of yoga. The odd walk here and there. I have an active job which helps. Just do little bits each day. Find a 10-15 min beginner workout thing on YouTube. I feel loads better for it!

Fizzleaway1 · 10/11/2024 21:54

@rockingbird no oneโ€™s really noticed what Iv been eating. My parents and husband know Iโ€™m on it so they know why Iโ€™m eating less and the people I work with/everyone else donโ€™t pay any attention to what I eat so itโ€™s not a problem.

I was so worried about people noticing me not eating and questioning it but when I told my best friend I had started taking MJ and expressed these concerns she told me to get a grip and it was all in my head, and you know what she was right! I've eaten in social situations at least once a week and not a single person has said anything even when I've ordered a starter as a main. I've realised though that I had actually been feeling self conscious eating in social situations for a while except it used to be because I was ordering a big meal plus an extra side or the biggest greasiest burger, but again people probably didn't even think twice.

I agree with your friend. No one cares what others are eating or how much they are eating. Iv been out for loads of meals and I have never thought twice about what someone has ordered.

I think unless someone is going to the extreme one way or anotherโ€ฆ so a massive main and 3 sides and 2 puddings V a glass of water and a carrot stick while everyone else is eating a full meal then no one pays attention.

I think it depends on the person. Iโ€™ve a couple of friends with food issues, one very obese and she watches what people eat like a hawk and the twice Iโ€™ve had dinner with her since starting this in the last month both times sheโ€™s commented โ€œnot eating much?โ€ โ€œYou not eating ?โ€ And pointedly looked at my plate.

i was out a couple of times last week and no one said anything, but they did look at my plate, so I think some people do notice, they just donโ€™t comment, others do comment, depends on who it is.

Relaxedandchilled · 11/11/2024 06:26

Well Iโ€™m a full four weeks in, my boozy pound has come off, and taken another one with it, and although sat is my weigh day, Iโ€™m a stone down. Whoop! Loose on average a couple of pounds a week with the first week obviously being a big one, hence why this month is a stone in a month.

im so pleased. Still got so much more to go, 3 stone and 7 pounds, another 5 pounds and I shall be out the obese category and into overweight.

rockingbird · 11/11/2024 06:30

Thanks all, I need to lighten up and stay in my lane โ˜บ๏ธ

From my own observations the 48 hr mark seems to be when the shaky/sickness kicks in! It seems to die down by Thursday fortunately .. I aim to drink water and try to eat little and often. Haven't been sick so far which is an improvement on wks1&2 so I'll take that as a win! Happy Monday to you all xx

Omg had my 4th jab last night and Iโ€™ve never had the sulphur burps before but today ๐Ÿคฎ how do people deal with this all the time I feel like Iโ€™m going to vomit ๐Ÿ˜ญ had no weight loss week 3 either.. but did lose 10lb the first 2 weeks so trying not to get down over it

I think this is to do with what you eat. On mounjaro you need to be effectively lean meats, veg, salads etc, once you get into fatty or too carby food it seems to cause digestive issues like the sulphur burps. I think itโ€™s also advised to eat like this by the manufacturer.

I spent a lot of time yesterday feeling sorry for myself and in tears. My weightloss (8lb in 4 weeks) really upset me and after seeing fantastic numbers here I felt my usual feelings of self doubt and inadequacy. I talked to DH and we both agreed I should stop as the feelings of failure were getting me down. I was also constipated and have had indigestion since going up to 5mg on Friday, with little appetite supression etc (it all fizzled out by week 4)
Well I woke up this morning and I think the 5mg has kicked in and I feel like I did in week 2. I have been to the loo and lost a lb since Saturday. All motivation is back. I think my body had almost got the drug out of my sysytem and 5mg is the starting dose for me. I know it is different for everyone, but it is so hard when you see fantastic losses on 2.5mg after decades of feeling a failure already.

letshavetea · 11/11/2024 07:17

Morning all! I took my seventh 2.5 mg dose last night. In six weeks Iโ€™ve lost 5 and 3/4 pounds. This isnโ€™t a lot, but Iโ€™ll just keep going. Off on holiday for two weeks and when I come back Iโ€™ve got a 5mg pen in the fridge. I deliberately held off going up until I came back.

But 2 lbs a week is really good, most people lose 1-2 a week, after the week one water loss.

i agree 2.5 does very little, this medicine can have significant t side effects and clearly the way to mitigate that is to prepare the body to take it and go up slowly.

I took my first 5mg on sat, and I feel great, literally no side effects, no nausea, constipation, the runs, nothing. I just feel great.

hopeishere · 11/11/2024 07:58

I've just finished week five and have lost a stone. I've gone into the 14 stone bracket which is great. Frustratingly I've just pooped - bet that would have been another 1lb off!! Also no one has noticed I've lost any weight so shows how big I am! I can see a bit of difference in my face.

I feel I've cut down a lot on what I eat though and am wondering what else can go while retaining a long term relationship with food.

I'm going to try 3.75 this week and see how I get on.

Oh no! 8lbs is a fantastic weight loss! Thats 2lbs a week which is what it should be. Most people only lose so much in their first week as its water weight.

I know itโ€™s hard and you talk about some issues with feeling inadaquate but please donโ€™t compare yourself. We will all lose at different rates but we will all get there in the end if we stick with it.

So glad 5mg has kicked in for you.

Fizzleaway1 · 11/11/2024 08:03

@hopeishere I donโ€™t look any different either ๐Ÿ˜‚ maybe my face looks a tiny bit slimmer but thatโ€™s it.

@letshavetea have a lovely holiday. enjoy.

@Relaxedandchilled well done on being a stone down.

I know a loss is a loss, but I will be honest, I am a bit pissed off with the loss. I was hoping for more by now, even my body measurements have not changed.

I am going up to the 5mg a week early and DP is having the remaining 2 X 2.5mg jabs (assuming we can get the bonus dose out) to see if they get with it ok, before potentially signing up for a full course.

I have had minimal side effects and the suppression has probably been lasting until about Thursday (after jabbing on a Monday) so I have been getting through the weekend on willpower alone.

As long as the side effects are ok, I am happy to up my dose each month until I get where I need to.

UpUpUpU · 11/11/2024 09:35

Morning all, haven't updated in a while as have been super busy!

I started at a BMI of 29 as I had a condition which put me in the category of being able to get it at a lower BMI. I carry all my weight around my stomach and my prescriber was happy it was an appropriate treatment for me.

I am just at the end of week 6 now. I have remained on 2.5mg as it is working for me at this.

My 6 week goal was to have lost half a stone for my gradation this week so I don't look so lumpy in my dress. I have weighed in today and I am a full stone down! I only weigh every 2 weeks as I weigh on a Boditrax machine and dont have scales at home. I have been losing a kg every week which feels achievable to keep off.

So:
SW 74kg (BMI 29)
CW 67.5kg (BMI 26.4)
Total Loss = 6.5kg
GW 66kg (64kg is the top end of the healthy BMI but that feels too thin for me)

I now feel my dress is actually a little too big so will have a mooch around the shops today to see if I can find a smaller dress!

HansHolbein · 11/11/2024 10:33

@Relaxedandchilled Fantastic, well done. Bet you feel great!

@rockingbird Wishing you the very best for this week and that the nausea STAYS AWAY! Banished!

@IlovetoKnitandRead Really sorry to read youโ€™re struggling. Good for you for carrying on. Donโ€™t let it beat you! You can do it! A lot of people have really good results from 5mg onwards so please hold out for that. Also, people like me who have lost a lot initially, might find it slows right down and you overtake them! Obviously itโ€™s not a competition and we canโ€™t control what we lose but as long as you keep at it, keep at a deficit, and make manageable changes.. you will lose weight. We are all here for you so keep talking to us.

@letshavetea Brilliant, well done. Jealous of your holiday! Have an amazing time!

@hopeishere Congratulations! Well done! I bet you can feel the difference already, even if nobody else can yet. I know what you mean, about cutting stuff out. We have to make this work long term for if/when we come off, so donโ€™t remove too much stuff. You have to enjoy life and you deserve to enjoy it. Have you been feeling ok on it? Any side effects?

@DeltaAlphaDelta79 I understand why youโ€™re pissed off. But youโ€™re still here and youโ€™re still persevering. Glad youโ€™ve had no side effects because if you had, youโ€™d be even more pissed! 5mg might be the magic number for you. Hope you have a good week.

@UpUpUpU Fab!!! Lovely update. Glad youโ€™re feeling good! Hope you find a wonderful dress and congratulations on graduating! What did you study?

Relaxedandchilled · 11/11/2024 10:38

@HansHolbein thank you, yes, but in my mind Iโ€™m aware of how much more Iโ€™ve to lose, itโ€™s a long old road really.

im seeing the doc for a check up later this week and really hoping I can start to reduce my bp meds as I took it at home and my machine measures high and it was quite low even on that, so maybe I can reduce one of my meds a little. Fingers crossed.
