So I have sadly had to take 3 weeks off MJ due to financial issues.

What I've noticed:

Inflammation is back. Pain, breathlessness, feeling boiling hot, red skin

IBS-D - needing to go 7-10 times a day, Mj made this once to twice a day

General control in life:
felt more in control of my life on MJ

CALM

I Was experiencing less perimenopausal rage on MJ

Food noise obviously

Please share your non weight related side effects

Sleep apnea greatly reduced
ankles no longer stiff or swollen
can now do a good 30 mins in the gym, up from ten , 3 weeks ago
calmer, no more anxious jittery feeling

Thehop · 02/11/2024 18:48

My ankles are a normal size

I can reach to wipe my own bottom post poo.

hoarahloux · 02/11/2024 19:15

I've only recently seen someone else post about this - my asthma has improved. I know asthma is caused by inflammation and Mounjaro helps with that, but I still couldn't quite believe it was improving my asthma symptoms.

Arielsmummy · 02/11/2024 19:18

It's helped some of my peri menopause symptoms.
I used to be addicted to fizzy drinks, like 5-7 cans a day - now I have half a can at the most
I've gone off alcohol. And I've heard it can help with things like that. I only used to drink once a fortnight, now I don't even want to do that

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 02/11/2024 19:20

I have rosacea and I know my inflammation is high. I wonder if this stuff could help with my rosacea?

Menopausalsourpuss · 02/11/2024 19:53

Snoring (sleep better in general) and asthma.

WeAllHaveWings · 02/11/2024 21:51

Hot swollen ankles and swollen feet disappeared in first 3-4 weeks

Acid reflux has reduced greatly and I have been off my prescription omezraprole for 3 weeks now only needing 1-2 rennies a day. I had been on it for 7 years and any previous attempts to stop, I was very uncomfortable the day after stopping.

TwentyBillion · 03/11/2024 00:00

Has the snoring and sleep apnea stopped because of weight loss?

hoarahloux · 03/11/2024 00:07

Snoring (sleep better in general) and asthma.

Can I ask how it's helped with your asthma? Only because I thought I was kidding myself that mine had improved because no one ever mentioned it as a side effect.

GrimDamnFanjo · 03/11/2024 04:09

Aversion to alcohol?

Summerhillsquare · 03/11/2024 05:44

My asthma has more or less vanished. Cured my nicotine addiction overnight, I don't even think about it now. I'd already given up drinking alcohol but again it's not even a thought in my head any more.

So odd!

usernother · 03/11/2024 05:51

Not mounjaro but another weight loss jab, my stress incontinence has disappeared. It came back when I had a break for a while so definitely not due to the weight loss.

PotatoBreadForTheWin · 03/11/2024 06:23

I'm sleeping so much better. Also I just feel less stressed in general. I have a stressful job which used to affect me quite a lot but now I just don't feel so emotionally affected by it. It's very strange but I love it!

Also completely gone off alcohol.

Has the snoring and sleep apnea stopped because of weight loss?

For me no. I’ve only lost ten pounds and had the apnea when I was lighter than I am now.

olympicsrock · 03/11/2024 06:38

The snoring and sleep apnoea is because you have lost weight from your neck - it’s one of the first places to lose from.
I have had an aversion to alcohol .

I am not sure this is correct, the drug is currently in trials to cure sleep apnea, it seems to be something to do with inflammation.

CobaltRewind · 03/11/2024 08:07

I’ve written about this before so hopefully people aren’t fed up of me saying it!

Unexpected advantages of MJ

  1. aversion to alcohol
  2. extremely minimised desire to eat sugar, if any
  3. Control of ADHD symptoms, much less impulsive and mood has stabilised
  4. I just feel I can cope better with life, better focus, more productive
  5. Getting more sleep
  6. Aversion to processed food, even ‘nice’ fancy weekend food makes me 🤢 so I’m cooking proper food
  7. I found a lump in my breast as my boobs have got smaller, I wouldn’t have found it had I not been bra shopping… still waiting to find out what’s next on this

Disadvantages

  1. Nausea, definitely more manageable
  2. watching other people eat makes me feel like I’m going to gag

I want to stay on this forever… even the cutting out of sugar and alcohol is amazing for me as I was definitely addicted to sugar and dependent on alcohol.

GinForBreakfast · 03/11/2024 08:18

Fascinating thread, thanks OP.

wonder how much of the improvements are down to the specific effects of the drug or down to the reduction of processed foods and sugar in particular.

I read that it is being considered for many other uses.

Sajacas · 03/11/2024 08:24

A lot of the related symptoms above are due to insulin resistance and weight loss jabs help improve insulin resistance.
If you want to learn a bit more about how the jabs work watch this very informative video:

My chronic headaches have disappeared. I've gone from daily headaches which was completely debilitating to two a month related to my menstrual cycle. It's been pretty life changing for me.

Blueberrymuffin8 · 03/11/2024 08:47

Could anyone tell me where the most affordable place to buy this is? The price range seems to differ greatly!

TwentyBillion · 03/11/2024 08:48

@TheBoldHelper how interesting!

I'm currently waiting for sleep clinic appointment for sleep apnea. I've lost over a stone but doesn't seem to have made a difference.

I sadly have not noticed any other benefits apart from losing weight. Albeit losing slowly.

When dose did you all start noticing these changes? I'm on 5ml.

I’m still on 2.5.

it seems evidentially it reduces by 66percent obstructive sleep apnea. Some doctors are thinking that might just be losing weight, others think it is the drug hence the tests, for me, it is the drug. As I’ve had sleep apnea for a long time and at a much lower weight,

Bibulous · 03/11/2024 09:37

I've only been in it for a few weeks and my general mood has improved a lot. I'm not over-eating and then hating myself for being "weak". Instead I'm feeling positive and in control. It's been a very long time since I felt like this.

My interest in alcohol has also dropped a lot. I'd got into the habit of having a few on Saturday nights and used to really look forward to it but that's gone. We're going to the local pub for Sunday lunch later and I'm not sure I can be bothered to have anything alcoholic.

I've had chronic tension headaches for ages now and it's really affecting my life. When I google I can only find hits about MJ causing headaches not reducing them. I'd be really interested to hear more about this as I'd do anything to get rid of them
