  1. overeat (obv)
  2. stay up late doing nothing. This was a real issue, now I just go to bed about 10pm
  3. take too much codeine
  4. drink much alcohol (I’m ‘forcing myself to have a glass!’)

is this a miracle drug?

Great thread @Shinydress!
This is definitely the drug of the future, that’s for sure!

Amazingly I seem to have given up on my Diet Coke addiction, after 30 yrs of drinking it everyday I haven’t had any for well over a month, can even walk happily past it in the grocery shop without any feelings of picking up another jumbo box of the stuff!!

ShiftAMountain · 02/10/2024 10:42

It's really early days for me (week 2) but I am noticing already that I am spending less money. All those silly little impulse buys that add up over the month - somehow they are not happening.

It's very strange.

Oh wow! I am hoping to start it soon but just for the food side. If I could give up Coke Zero too that would be absolutely amazing. That has always been even harder than food

Orangesandlemons77 · 02/10/2024 14:13

Not drinking alcohol here either.

Ellepff · 02/10/2024 15:28

I’ve cut my caffeine - coke zero and tea. I still have some of each but not all day and I’ll leave some in the mug or can.

I didn’t think of it @Shinydress but you’re right! I’m going to bed sensibly!

Cerialkiller · 02/10/2024 15:36

Not me, but there is lots of anecdotal evidence that it helps with lots of addictive behaviour including smoking, gambling and shopping. Anything that gives you a high basically.

I've been less inclined to sit procrastinating. I think because I don't get the usual pleasure from my distraction tasks, you tube etc.

Been biting and picking at my nails less I've just realised. I've actually had to start cutting them with clippers.

I've started writing a book because I feel like I should be doing something and it might as well be productive, plus started jogging.

I have however lost my desire to cook much. I'm a big foodie and i don't feel motivated to try new stuff now. I think because less hunger/desire for food.

Pinkbendyman · 02/10/2024 15:54

Great thread!

  1. Stopped drinking Pepsi Max and other pop - sparkling water with ice and lime now
  2. Stopped ordering takeaways
  3. Stopped taking sumatriptan for migraines
  4. Stopped taking Cocodamol for back pain

MJ surely is a miracle!

Moonshiners · 02/10/2024 15:59

This thread also backs up my long held belief that diet drinks are absolute bollocks and serve to make us hungrier.

ruethewhirl · 02/10/2024 16:01

Currently considering going on it. Has anyone found it helps with sugar cravings?

Are the injections very painful?

MounjaroHereICome · 02/10/2024 16:10

Thanks for the thread, OP.

Mounjaro has:

  1. Calmed my brain chatter. My mind is quieter and I no longer feel so restless. Including the snacking food noise. So I don't feel like snacking anymore.

  2. I no longer have a strong urge to have my usual caramel chocolate buttons! Oh my god!! Never saw this coming. It's like a turn off switch. Even if I have it I can't finish a small bag (took me 3 days to do so) when I'd usually do in one sitting.

  3. When I think of my fav toffee cake, I feel nothing! Nothing! Haven't had that since.

  4. I feel hungry, I eat a few pieces/small bit and I'm full (not stuffed, just satisfied and no longer hungry) till the next time I feel hungry. Nothing else in between. It's like I finally can feel the "Stop" button whereas I used to eat past that and not realise it till I'm stuffed.

  5. I still drink my coke zero but no longer have the strong taste for it. It's just a drink like water to me now.

  6. I drink water much more now and water doesn't taste bland to me anymore.

  7. It's like it's fixed/balanced my palate so that things aren't giving my tongue a high or low, just neutral.

Now lost 3kg in 2wks. 2 of that in the first week. Going into the 3rd week.

I didn't have specifically sugar cravings, but yes it stops you wanting to snack or binge, you feel full and satisfied with a small portion. I don't have any interest in sweet things at all anymore, I haven't eaten a biscuit, cake, sweet or chocolate in 3 months now. Even artificial sweetener is too much.

The injections don't hurt in the slightest. It's like pressing the non writing end of a biro against your skin. The actual needle is only 4mm long and it's incredibly fine.

Shinydress · 02/10/2024 16:39

I had some spaghetti hoops before and they tasted unbearably sweet!

takeaways too for me - I used to order 2-3 a week (sorry). And when I got the notion of getting one it was like I couldn’t stop it. It was happening.

Now I don’t contemplate it. Think of the ££££

I still think of takeaways (mostly because I’m lazy) but instead of being obsessed I just make something fast even if it’s boring.

I wanted a burrito the other day and instead of ordering one right away, I waited a day, made all the bits healthy from scratch and have been having one healthy burrito a day

a few months ago if I didn’t get it right away and takeout not homemade I’d be cranky and mean for days

I don't get any sugar cravings now because even grapes are too sweet while I'm taking this.
I eat loads of cucumbers and celery which was unheard of for me 😂

Orangesandlemons77 · 02/10/2024 18:57

An odd one here, I have gone really off meat and eggs, I was pescatarian to start with, but have got more kind of restricted in what I like to eat. Not sure 'restricted' is the correct word really, but more drawn to e.g. veggies and pulses etc. Still having yoghurt and milk, and quite fancy vegan stuff.

abracadabra1980 · 02/10/2024 20:11

Wow. Could this help with my bread and butter addiction?!

For sure. I now have 1 (small) piece of toast with butter and marmite everyday (as I still enjoy it) but that means I'm stuffed until I have lunch (usually small salad or soup) at 2pm and then something healthy for tea. My old diet was bread bread bread bread

What is the science behind this drug?

missy111 · 02/10/2024 21:18

Eat sweet foods.. as a lifetime sweet person (pudding rather than a starter every time!) I now don't want to eat sweet foods.
Also my Pepsi max addiction seems to have disappeared!

On a super positive note, it's definitely helping with my crohns and joint pain as well?

Timeforicecream · 02/10/2024 21:24

It actually is amazing. A few months ago I was reading through the threads here & thinking… yeah right! Then I decided to try it, lo and behold I’ve 1 stone off in 4 weeks.

@abracadabra1980 I work beside the most amazing cafe/deli/bakery ever to exist and would be in there at least once a day for my lunch (carb overload) and usually something very sweet & a large latte. Ive been in twice since I started the injections & both times I ordered a coffee & nothing else. Nothing appealed to me, it’s like I have a naturally slims person brain now. So yes it’s a wonder drug for sure.

no sweet cravings, my addiction to several things have disappeared, I only drink water & tea now & haven’t had fizzy drinks in ages.

@Shinydress i was having 2/3 takeaways weekly not counting the above so don’t feel bad. We get into bad habits & for me personally I (did) eat my feelings & it made me happy for a short time so money aside I don't regret it.

yes there are a few very insignificant downsides but my god are these worth it.

If it's dulling the dopamine seeking/dopamine high, presumably it's also killing your sex drive?

NCfor24 · 02/10/2024 21:33

I'm able to try a bit of something and be satisfied. 2 skittles sweets, maybe a Haribo the kids share... I regularly used to eat a sharebag of Sour Mix to myself.
Definitely addictive behaviour has been massively reduced. Alcohol intake now "normal", I suspect I was borderline alcoholic before.
I have an amazing reduction in anxiety type overthinking behaviour and am falling asleep easily.
Even if we take weight loss out of the equation, I think Mounjaro has still changed my life. My moods are more balanced and my perimenopause hormonal rages are totally gone. I'm happier with my husband. I'm less stressed and short tempered with the kids. I feel good.

8 weeks in. No side effects. Lost nearly 2 stone. Not wanting anything sugary, don't drink alcohol anyway but don't like soda anymore, also did like latte sachets at work now too sweet. If you look at the thread MJ August starters 5. Some great posters on there who are knowledgeable and motivated 😀
