Medexpress saying no

Stockpot1234 · 28/09/2024 13:34

Hi, I’m on my 3rd month of mounjaro and losing weight well, however I switch companies because of the discount for first timers. I’ve just tried ordering from medexpress and uploaded a photo, also a photo of past prescription and they’re telling me ‘no’. Just because I don’t look ‘obese’ anymore, but I’m still overweight and a bmi of 27. What do I do now? Do i get my money back or keep trying? TIA

I think I read somewhere that Medexpress don't take on anybody new under bmi 30. Could be completely wrong obviously 😁 and I am sure someone more knowledgable will be along soon!

I would get that refund and go elsewhere if I were you. Plenary of places to check for other good deals.

Thank you for replying. Silly isn’t it, especially if you have a copy of previous prescriptions. I understand the over 30 bmi thing, but they’re basically penalising people if they’re steadily losing weight and doing well. I may ring them and question them first.

It's worth following up with them to see if there's no other way for you to prove you're genuine.

However I'd also strongly advise finding a pharmacy with decent prices and sticking with them, rather than chasing discounts at this stage in your weight loss. They're all feeling the pressure to be legitimate (we're still early days in this weight loss medication and honestly fortunate that they still allow for online prescriptions) and this is going to be happening more often.

Stockpot1234 · 28/09/2024 18:30

Yes, that’s good advice, thank you 😊 I’m not too far off my goal so it’s frustrating but you’re right. Do you recommend anyone? I started with Manual but they’re around £230 now! Thank you 😊

I haven't heard of manual but that does sound expensive. I have switched to Oushk, they have £25 off until the end of the month. They also have maintenance plans with 15% discount and free delivery.

TheWildRoseBear · 28/09/2024 21:15

I would try Oushk. If your BMI is still about 25 then you won’t have an issue with previous prescription

Edited

Oushk is a safe bet, they also support maintenance which a lot of us are interested in.

If you aren't planning on staying on a low dose in the longer term, you could go with Cloud Pharmacy or Care Pharmacy, who have some of the lower prices I've seen consistently at the mid-high doses (I think both will keep prescribing until at least 25 BMI but they have varying responses when it comes to how long they will do that for)

Medexpress is only good if you can manage to get people to use your code, which has never happened to me 😄so I stopped using them after the first time because while they say they price match, they only apply that as a credit to your next order. So the current order would still be at their full price.

(I have so much to say on this topic 😆)

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 28/09/2024 22:09

I am using the Family Chemist who offer a consistently low price (even for the higher doses where Oushk are more expensive). They are very responsive to emails and easy to switch to. Also offer maintenance.

CesarSoubreyon · 29/09/2024 07:11

I changed to Oushk and they are brilliant. More expensive than some, but they do actual discounts occasionally rather than referral codes. The pharmacist Hira is excellent and offers advice directly to patients via consultations so it's a much more personalised service than many offer.

That sounds good, I’ll definitely look into them, thank you!

😂 thank you! I could chat about it all day too, it fascinates me.

You might be raising flags by changing companies often as the company does have responsibility when prescribing. Especially if your photo doesn’t look overweight/ obese.

Yes, you could be right. Thank you for your reply 😊

Good luck op!

The other great thing about Oushk is that you choose your delivery date. I was previously with Zava and hated the unpredictability of when it would come due to needing to be home to receive the delivery.

This thread has turned into an Oushk fan club but at least you know it's genuine as we don't get any incentives/ referral codes etc!

This is worrying given a lot of us will probably have to be on MJ long term.

OhHeyOwlFace · 29/09/2024 22:30

As advised by others, it's unwise to chop and change suppliers. I know it's tempting but you run the risk of being left without medication unfortunately

Yes it is. I’m wondering which supplier will still prescribe when at goal weight 😏

Do you know which supplier will keep prescribing when the majority or all the weight is lost?

I've been with medexpress since the start and recommend them usually!

I understand Oushk offer a more personalised service though so I'd give them a shout and if they affect you, just stick there

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 30/09/2024 09:02

@Stockpot1234 definitely TFC and Oushk. I have read of others but can't remember off the top of my head. If you are on Reddit, there a 'Mounjaro maintenance uk' sub with useful info

Stickthatupyourdojo · 30/09/2024 09:08

I've just moved from medexpress to Oushk with a BMI of 23. I did an online consultation with Hira (prescriber/owner) for £5 booked via their website to ensure I could explain my history and goals rather than risk doing the online form and being automatically rejected. I have been accepted and my next pen is on its way.

That is annoying though, I moved to medexpress with a BMI of around 27 from elsewhere but that was 3 months or so ago, I think they've really changed their business model and practises.
