Mounjaro 1.25mg anyone?

Hi all,

Have recently taken the plunge after trawling through all of the wonderful and insightful information on this site (the community on here is amazing!)

Today marks the start of my third week and third injection (2.5mg starter dose). I have had great suppression and really pleased with my current weight loss.

SW: 93.2kg
CW: 88.1kg

So a loss of 5kg/11lb in two weeks...

HOWEVER it's not all rainbows and butterflies. I have been suffering from diarrhoea. It's infrequent, but enough to make me consider stopping (it's very urgent and I'm afraid I may get caught short on the school run).

I don't get on with loperamide as I find it bungs me up and the when I do go it's almost as bad.

So I'm debating two options:

  1. Splitting the dose and injecting twice a week (not overly convinced this will make a difference as the diarrhoea doesn't directly follow an injection)
  1. Trying a half dose of 1.25 by counting clicks (yes I know technically we aren't supposed to, but I'm comfortable with getting the bonus dose so I'm already breaking alll the rules lol)

Would love to hear if anyone has done either option, particularly 2!

Thanks so much!

I might be being thick but aren’t they the same option?

I think try a half dose and see how it settles- if you’re ok 3/4 days later take the second half.

JazBag · 11/09/2024 21:43

Hi @Blink282,

Thanks for the reply- I wasn't that clear I'm saying cut the dose down to 1.25mg for the week as an option (so half the normal starting dose).

In my head I'm thinking it's working for me at 2.5mg, so would I get suppression on a lower dose and would my body tolerate it better, much like going back down a dose further down the line.

Just desperate to find a way to make it work! Smile

I think all you can do is give it a try? I did have over a week of diarrhoea on 2.5 but it did eventually pass ( we won't talk of my sprint through M&S 😬). Hope you feel better soon

WeAllHaveWings · 11/09/2024 22:49

I had constipation rather than diahorrea (although there was a couple of days in the first 2-3 weeks I had diahorrea too just to keep me on my toes!)

For me the side effects and extreme suppression started to lessen towards the end of the first pen and I was more comfortable. 12 weeks now and I am still <5mg and 💩 nearly normally again! 😂

If you drop to 1.25mg you might find you need to face the 2.5mg increase again later, so depending on how bad it is might be worth powering through now and asking prescriber or pharmacy if there is anything else they can give you to help with it.

fairydust11 · 11/09/2024 23:00

Op, I did the half dose for a month, after a month on 2.5 & losing 11lb, at first my side effects reduced (tiredness is the biggie for me) but then the tiredness came back the 2nd week on 1.25, so I gradually increased my dose back to 2.5 & now I still suffer with tiredness, but the 2.5 isn’t working as well as it did the first time around & I don’t feel suppressed at all…I’m going to have to increase to 5 to see if that makes a difference, I think the lower doses do get your body more used to it, but I’ve found that means the lower dose (which worked great first time around) isn’t doing anything for me anymore. Maybe try it for a week to see how it feels?

Happyearlyretirement · 12/09/2024 09:42

I had so much suppression, I really had to go down as I couldn’t look at food. And my mood was off. I went to 40 clicks of my 2.5 pen this gives 1.6, it’s working for me 2 weeks in. I can now sit down and eat a small portion of food without feeling nauseous and my mood is lifting.
of course this is all off licence so no prescriber can advise microdosing as it’s not been part of any clinical trials. I have googled information and feel knowledgeable to make an informed choice that works for me. I will titrate the dose when I feel it’s no longer working.

MargoLivebetter · 12/09/2024 11:04

I have had such savage repression and appetite loss at 2.5, that I've extended each injection by a day, so I am only injecting every 8 days. That has helped a bit and means that I do get a bit of symptom subsidence for the last 3/4 days each week. That might be another option to consider @JazBag

JazBag · 12/09/2024 13:52

This is all so interesting. It's fascinating how people react so differently to it. I'd assume that they e got to be doing research into lower dosage as some people have great suppression from the start!

Just an update in case anyone stumbles across this... I ended up taking the 2.5mg a day late (I just thought f it I've gotta persevere!)

BUT have cut out dairy and so far.... no diarrhoea!

I miss cheese 😂
Xxx

Has the reduced dose affected anyone’s weight loss?! Only I’m having the same problem and want to reduce too.

thanks x

Happyearlyretirement · 19/09/2024 22:53

I’ve only lost a 1lb a week on 1-6 but at least I can eat and I’m sure I will loose some more as I titrate up. I’m much happier with myself and can now have earthy meals,

Jeanette44 · 17/11/2024 20:30

I was taking manjarno 2.5mg for a month it started making me anxious and panicky. Could I do just 1.25mg do you think. Xx

crumbsonmyface · 17/11/2024 21:33

@Jeanette44 - I did this as my first week of 2.5mg sent me into anxiety/panic hell and I couldn't cope. I've been on 1.25mg the last 5 weeks and anxiety totally reduced. In total I've lost 10.8lb - so slower than some people, but I'm ok with that as the side effects were too much.

Catty123Ma · 06/05/2025 07:01

hi there.. a bit late to this post but maybe you can help..

Looking for some advice please! I have about 25lb/10kg to lose following 2 back to back pregnancies. I cannot shift the weight.. so I am considering trying Mounjaro.

I have a lot of friends that have been on it and I have found that they have lost weight so fast.. I am in no rush what so ever and the speed of this loss scares me. I would be very happy with a pound or 2lb per week.. if possible. I would love to listen to my body and build better habits while I lose.. I feel the speed of the way my friends have lost weight won’t work for me.. I am also extremely conscious of hair loss.. which is why I was hoping for very slow and steady.

Has anyone worked with a provider that micro dosed from the beginning. I appreciate that the regulated and tested dose is 2.5 .. but I am just looking for some advice on how I could make this work best for me.. thanks so much 🙏🏻

Snm86 · 08/05/2025 11:24

@Catty123Ma

Hi lovely,

I came across this thread, as I've just taken a 1.25 dose, and wanted to see if there are any others with feedback on it.

Basically, I started MJ (2.5) in January, it made me very poorly, I was throwing up 12-24 hours after i jabbed, bad diarrhea, horrendous stomach cramps, and Sulphur burps, yet all of my friends barely had any symptoms, and I'm a large girl, therefore i expected less of a reaction to it.

After the 3rd week, which was the worst week, I was throwing up at work and felt awful, I decided enough was enough, and didn't take it again, however I felt somewhat cheated that it hadn't worked for me.

Last evening a couple of my friends came over, and both are also on MJ, one is a midwife, and has been on it for 3 months, and has lost 3 stone, the other friend is 2 weeks in with very little effect, but feels fine, and persevering.

My midwife friend uses a separate syringe to extract and inject her doses, as she was feeling sick a dizzy on higher doses, so she suggested for me to take half the dose to see how i got on, which I have done, and so far it feel fine... tonight will be the test if I start being sick etc; as I've been told that MJ peaks at 12 hours after the jab.

So, providing I'm fine on 1.25, i will manually extracting my doses going forward, and will increase each week by 0.25 and will manage it that way, to allow my body to gradually get used to it.

I hope this post helps you, and maybe some others that managing the doses to suit you and your body is totally fine, and will more than likely help people to have a more positive experience, as not everyone reacts the same to MJ.

Catty123Ma · 09/05/2025 21:53

@Snm86thank you very much for your story. Really appreciate that. I’m really just trying to approach my journey very cautiously, and this has given me faith it’s possible. So how do you make it work with your provider? I am such a novice, if you manually extract does your dose last longer or will you need to dump due to the expiration. Also, how has things gone.. have your side effects calmed down?

Colli9 · 06/06/2025 09:31

@Snm86 I have also started on 1.25 as I was too scared to go for 2.5 so far so good suppression is high enough for me, but its only been 3 days...

Catty123Ma · 06/06/2025 13:24

on my second week I went up to 2. In total iv lost 4lb and I am absolutely delighted with that.. I’m happy with a lb per week. I will stay at 2 as long as I’m losing, took my 3rd injection today. No side effects at all, still eating regular healthy meals but stopping with full and rarely snacking. Good luck on your journey!

Snm86 · 07/06/2025 05:53

@Catty123Ma sorry lovely, I’d not seen your responses, I’m so glad it’s going well for you!

im also having a much better experience, I be lost around 8lb in 4 weeks on the lower doses and im also happy with that. I’ve just ordered another 2.5 pen, and plan to do the same with smaller doses.

and yes, the pen does last longer if you have smaller doses, however I’ve been injecting every 5 days as it was wearing off, but I’m ok with that 😊

I hope you continue on with a positive MJ journey xx

5amisthenew7am · 07/06/2025 07:31

I had this problem and I solved it by spacing my doses 10 days apart instead of 7. I get good suppression from 2.5mg and it lasts for nearly 10 days.

The half life is 5 days so it probably works really well taking a smaller dose every 5 days - it’s just harder to remember when to take it! It probably means you have a steady amount of it in your system so smaller peaks and troughs. Which I imagine is better in terms of side effects. I might try this.

Ameliazzza · 02/09/2025 14:52

Week 1 headache, mind. Week 2 .severe diarrhoea for 2 days, fainting and sweating on 2.5 mg. I have dropped to 1.25 mg so far so good 🤞

proname · 02/09/2025 22:30

My first month I did 2.5mg every week. Then i switched to 1.25mg every 5 days to minimise side effects.
In 4 months, i have lost about 13kg (about 2 stones). My hair is falling too.
I am considering moving to 1.5mg every 5 days as i have been stalling the past 3 weeks (i have been poorly too).
@Snm86you dont need to extra t the 1.25mg dose with a syringe (except if it is the 5th dose), you can halves the clicks (instead of 60, do 30)

Millionaura · 14/10/2025 19:52

I have just gone down to 1.25 this week. 2.5 has worked in terms of loss but the side effects have been debilitating. Nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea.
It was so bad I didn’t take anything last week at all.

I am hoping to lose still on 1.25 if I don’t I may have to consider an alternative. How is everyone else getting on?

FiFi1964 · 15/10/2025 19:18

Please could someone do a video of how to dial 1.25mg into the pen. Im not sure from reading peoples comments, how to do it. Thanks
