Hi all! My mounjaro pen just got here! Feel so excited, but also so nervous that I feel a bit... squicky in my tummy 🥴😳

Nerves mainly cos of my anxiety. What if I die type silliness 🤦‍♀️ ill get over it. But also cos I'm alone with my (feral)one year old and I'm worried ill get super sick! Won't know til I try it. So ill get over it!

So I need to top up shop today and I'm trying to think of meals that I will enjoy but that are based on protein and veg type stuff, i also eat lots of dairy. No carbs I would rather use tummy space on protein I don't need many carbs as not that active really. I also need easy and quick (cos of said one year old who is yet to walk, but thinks the house is his very own climbing frame so can't be left alone for long incase he falls!)

I'm thinking stuff like chicken wraps (carbs but not too many), coleslaw and chicken, some easy stuff really.

Does anyone have any ideas please to help me craft a shopping list? Preferably as cheap as possible to offset the cost of the injection pen!

Thanks in advance ☺️

It's weird I genuinely didn't feel anything. Worried neighbour was pissed up and did it wrong 😂 he does like a drink but he has to inject four times a day for years for diabetes.

If I was diabetic I'd be FUCKED. I'd make a useless iv drug user also. My son is late for bed cos I was fannying about 🤦‍♀️😂

But it's done now. I feel skinny already! Not really, I'm fucking starving for the blue cheese and Brie and ryvita I have in the kitchen.

And so it begins!

Well done. I found it didn't kick in until the second day (I am also on the first week did first one on Sat night). Now don't really feel hungry and have been eating 800-900 calories per day. Think it takes time to get what you're eating right too, it is a long term project!

Yeah I'm not feeling it yet. I just had a chicken cheese and salad wrap on wholewheat. Want another. This is my issue. Night time when baby is in bed, its "my time" and I eat and watch TV. I can't eat in the day cos I can't relax. It's so weird this relationship with food. Not just me either, no doubt. I'd like to eat well across the board really. Do you want to share how much you have to lose? For me it's 5 stone. I'd like to get to 9stone

How are you feeling today?

SomeonTookMyAnonymousUserName · 15/08/2024 16:14

My first pen has arrived today!!

I think I'll start Monday as I need to wait for alcohol wipes to be delivered. Plus, I always think Monday is a good day to start!

I have to admit, I'm excited and panicking in equal measure. On one hand, I might finally be slim after 30-odd years of dieting, but on the other hand, what if it doesn't work for me - nothing else has!

in the same situation as yourself - my first pen arrived and I did my first jab yesterday....... talk about getting nervous. But I did it. Food wise I am tracking everything using my fitness pal. Following the advice given on previous threads to aim for high protein intake .
My situation is possibly a bit different to most as I have a bmi of 43 and weigh 124kg . It doesnt help that 8 years ago I had a disc collapse in my neck which then compressed and inflamed the spinal cord. I am still struggling from the results of this - I have been left with a very wobbly balance and a case of drop foot. As a result my weight has rocketed up - I have started to have issues with knees just collapsing under me - and if i bend over to pick anything up - yep I fall over. which all became reasons not to exercise because it hurt - so the weight continued to go on and the cycle continued . So My main reason for starting on Mounjaro was to basically kickstart me weightloss and for me to start to embed good habits. Once i can get some of the weight off then there will be less pressure on my knees/back etc and IT WILL be easier to exercise. NO more excuses

Good luck!
For me it's hard to tell just yet. No side effects, I only just ate something (that's usual for me, normally I'll wait til son goes bed then binge) but was starving so I had chicken salad was lovely. I don't feel full, but I also don't feel starving, and I ate with my son for a change. So that was nice!

So I'm not sure yet!

How strange! Tonight I had the choice between a pizza that needed eating before it goes off, and that just needed chucking in the oven. Or a baby potato and mint salad that is much more faff.

The salad won, I wasn't repulsed by the pizza I just didn't fancy it. The salad was fucking glorious and delicious. The pizza is now in the bin.

How brilliant!

That's great to hear.
Sounds like it's working for you.
It's amazing stuff for sure.

Luvvies · 17/08/2024 07:51

Great news! Well done. I hope you're feeling good today.

PonyPatter44 · 17/08/2024 08:45

It's amazing stuff - I've been fat & food obsessed for 40 years, and suddenly it's all gone. Well, the fat is going slowly, but the food obsession is gone. I still love cooking and reading about food, but the obsessive need to stuff food in my face has evaporated

I absolutely get the craving to "eat clean" as well. I eat so much fruit and salad now. We get through A LOT of chicken thighs in our house 😄. But... I also eat blue cheese, steak, omelettes, whatever I want when I fancy it, because now my body has an off switch and I am happy to leave my plate when I'm done.

Luvvies · 18/08/2024 09:54

So good to hear these stories I'm taking my first jab later today! Had what I suspect was my last pizza yesterday....

NikKai · 21/08/2024 17:16

I went to the pharmacy today to weigh myself. I weighed myself just over a week ago, 89 (and a bit) kg. Been on mounjaro a week, and did it today, just over 87 kg..
What is this sorcery? 😊
