Started MJ on Sunday and no effect - just me?

Feeling really disappointed, please convince me I am not immune! First jab on Sunday, I think I did it properly and certainly felt very headachey and a little nauseous that evening. But absolutely no appetite suppression yesterday and today! I know it says that 2.5mg is not a therapeutic dose, and just to get you used to it, but everyone on here seems to have had great losses from the get go. So I was really hoping I’d feel the effects and get a small taste of the benefits.
Anyone else not felt it from the start? I am quite big at BMI 39, if that might make a difference.

I'm just coming up to the end of the first week myself and having read all the info I think the 2.5mg month is not meant to be a "theraputic" dose compared to when it increases. It's to prepare your body and make sure you're not getting any significant side effects as you increase the dosage slowly to a level where you start losing weight - so I'd persevere!

There's a supportive thread on here somewhere about people who are losing more slowly and not seeing that big initial whoosh of weight loss. It does seem like the higher your BMI to start with, the longer it takes for medication to build up enough to the level where it starts working.

I was the same as you OP and didnt feel different the first week. However now I'm on week 10 and have lost 1.5stone.
It will kick in!

So I meant to say to contine is that some people who are maybe seeing bigger losses at the start are either smaller so it's working more quickly ("theraputic dose" reached sooner than if they had a higher BMI), or psychosomatic (they started anticipating the effects before they happened, so were already eating less in those first weeks and losing weight that way).

ChaChaChooey · 30/07/2024 12:10

I’ve had good losses but I started a week after a quite significant (non weight related) jaw surgery so was somewhat limited on food choices already, it’s hard to unpack what is Mounjaro appetite suppression and what is CBA to eat tasty food X because it’s painful/more effort than pleasure.

It’s very early days so try not to compare yourself with others, you don’t know the whole story of their lives and over time the fast initial losers and the slow and steady losers tend to even out.
Commit to it for a month or 3 and then decide if it’s worthwhile/working for you when you have a bigger/longer data set to look back over.
Best wishes!

Don't give up! I've told myself that I need to take these jabs for at least 6 months before I can evaluate if they're working (so far I've been on them 6 days and have lost a princely total of 1.5lbs - but my weight can go up or down 5lbs just from eating crisps or not drinking enough water so I don't even know if that's "real" loss yet)

There are so many weight loss injection threads, but I thought I'd start this for anyone feeling a bit deflated by their slower than average loses. It...

Wow that’s great. Did you start noticing when you moved to 5mg?

Yes that makes sense if it takes longer if you’re bigger. And I’m sure there is a bit of a psychological effect. I am quite entrenched in my bad habits to be honest too. A lot of what I eat is in search of a dopamine hit, a hangover from when life was really quite miserable for a lot of years and I wasn’t getting much pleasure anywhere else. I’m not in the habit of watching what I eat, which must make it a slower start…

@ChaChaChooey thank you, you’re right about having it time, I know I need to. It was just such a scary decision to try it I was hoping it would be immediately rewarding.
huge admiration to you starting it whilst recovering from surgery x

@Xiaoxiong I don’t want to join the slow losers’ club but… think you’re probably right! And it does look supportive - thanks for the link 😀
